Quiet nights in The Encanto

I spent a long long time on this. I think I’m finally getting the hang of perspective at least a little bit. Anyways, have a peaceful moment where the Madrigal triplets take a break from their chores (sort of in Julieta’s case) to spend time with their significant others.

Remember when I said I was going to make Emmanuel a girl? Well I did.

Introducing Marisol Madrigal the eldest of the second generation triplets.

I decided not to make her a door because it would be identical to the one I made before so instead I made a little fact sheet. I might do something similar for Soledad and Luciano because I want to play around with their colors some more. I figure Julieta’s side of the family is blue color coded, Pepa’s is warm color coded, maybe Bruno’s is more earth tones to go along with his green. I think his kids would have a splash of their own color, like Marisol’s dark blue skirt/vest, to kind of symbolize their own growth and changes after their Dad left. But, they always have the green of their Dad and red of their Mom somewhere.

Asking a child his opinion on where a house goes based on his vision of the future creates interesting questions about self fulfilling prophecies. Moral of the story, don’t ask the opinions of preschoolers when it comes to civic infrastructure.

Earlier this week I responded to a comment wondering what Bruno’s first vision was. And it got me thinking.

Unlike Julieta or Pepa who practice their gift rather instinctively, Bruno’s is extremely ritualized and controlled.

I bet as a kid the visions would come in chaotic little spurts. And precious baby Bruno not understanding cause and effect, or much of anything. Would tell people weird cryptic shit and the villagers wouldn’t know what to make of it.

“Why?”

“Because you get a cat”

“It’s going to rain”

“When?”

“I dunno, I’m not a weatherman”

“Oh, so you’re still engaged?”

“What do you mean still?”

“Beware the guy”

“What guy? What did he look like?”

“I don’t know… old?”

“How old?”

“I don’t know. Your age I guess?”

“I’m 35!!!!”

This one wasn’t actually a vision. Bruno sits behind this woman in church and he was sick of not being able to see the priest beyond her hat.

At last! The third second gen triplet! Luciano is the middle triplet, son of Bruno and my Oc Marguerite. He has the ability to basically earth bend. This is very useful to the town so he is on Abuela’s list of favorites. He inherited his Dad’s goofiness and theater kid energy. He also inherited his mother’s vibrancy and outgoingness.
