Hey so you know how people always talk about transmasc erasure? Coming across that paper on Tumblr discourse on transandrophobia reminded me of something.

When I was doing my criminology degree, I went to several professors with several thesis ideas, and all of them were denied. These were all ideas based on transmasculine crime and victimology stats. Every professor shot down every thesis I had on ideas related to transmasc victims of various crimes.

Their reasoning? There's no need for this. This is useless. Nobody is interested in reading about trans men and transmascs being victims of crimes. They wouldn't even let me do my thesis on estimating more accurate stats on transmasculine victims of homicide. Which is an INCREDIBLY important thing!

So yeah. Next time someone talks about how trans men and transmascs aren't victims as much, remember this. Researchers don't want to research this. They won't allow people who want to do so, to do so. I couldn't get anyone to advise me on these papers.

Imagine for a moment that we were having a discussion about trans womens struggles.

Someone says something like:

"Trans women are often viewed by society as being predatory men and this stereotype is incredibly harmful to trans women"

This is reasonable and true, it is backed by the material realities and experiences of trans women.

But what if someone responded with:

"Remove the word "trans" from this sentence and it sounds incredibly stupid! Women (cis women) aren't viewed by society as predators! Any trans woman who says she's been viewed as a predator for being a woman must not understand how the world works!"

We can agree that this is a ridiculous argument that ignores the reality of being a trans women in favor of projecting a cis-hetero-patriarchal view of gender onto trans women, while invalidating those who don't fit that framework.

Now take this and apply it to trans men.

Sometimes I feel really silly because I suck at acronyms and forget what all the important ones mean (including in transandrophobia discussions). It's a miracle I've not forgotten what tme/tma are. Probably from all the radfems drilling that into everyone's tumblr fyps ...

#I struggle with getting opposite words confused so with tme/tma it always takes me a while. like right and left #only reason I can remember which one is which is either if I spell it out in my head or see someone complaining about the tmes

my moroccan friend is stuck in the deportation center (hard to talk abt so dont ask me) and we're trying 2 get them out but at the same time theyre trying to organize help for a libyan queer person they met in there lol i really admire this kind of person like using their limited time on the phone to also try to arrange help for someone else. id like to think i would act the same way if i were ever imprisoned but who knows. hoping to not find out but you know how life is

so they got out (good) and got given an order to leave the country in 30 days (bad) so we are working w a lawyer whos an expert in this matter to see the options but theyre like really crazy w deporting ppl these days.. anyway funds are needed to not think abt rent food etc expenses after having a horrible week in this horribly violent prison + paying for legal counsel and representation .. Truly "cancel culture" doesn't exist because why did tadc not lose a huge chunk of its audience when it became known that a portion of the voice cast made n word jokes, and the creator of the show was like "well I don't think dark humour is bad" like...

It is not something you get to joke about as a non Black person. You don't get to laugh at the "absurdity" of someone saying the n word when there are also people in this world fully saying it and meaning it and Black people, who already go through so much, have to deal with being reminded of that trauma by a "joke".

I know it happened a long time ago but the response to it surfacing being that the fandom has become a place where people make n word jokes in response to the situation instead of treating it solemnly...
