I know I already made a post to this effect but it's so baffling to me when someone defends the fact that headphone jacks are slowly but surely getting phased out by smartphone manufacturers with some variations of "wireless headphones are more convenient anyway" bc like. If we're talking about convenience what I like about wired headphones is that they conveniently have a single plug that makes the same damn pair of headphones universally compatible with every single audio-output-capable device I own, from my phone and my computer to my fucking gameboy and my casette player, it doesn't get any more convenient than that.

no headphone jack - totally fine for people who like Bluetooth! doesn't bother them. completely unusable for any wired things just completely removes the option it's literally impossible for no discernable gain other than profit (no it doesn't make it waterproof)

this isn't a choice between wired or Bluetooth it's between the ABILITY to CHOOSE between Bluetooth or wired in the first place. maybe one option is more convenient For You but removing the option doesn't even help you....

The KIDS act (which contains KOSA) passed the US house, so I recommend calling your senators and telling them to vote in opposition. I don't think I need to stress the importance of being able to use the internet freely and without privacy barriers being breached.

There are many scripts online you can follow, many ways to tweak your message to fit your senator (ESPECIALLY if they are up for reelection this year). Whether it's a recording you reach or a real person, be straightforward, don't argue, just let your rep know that you are a constituent and you oppose the KIDS act, etc.

Here is where you can search for your senator... call, email, fax, bring them physical letters, show up in person to their offices if you are able.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but do not ever, ever, ever let someone guilt you into not transitioning. "But you're so pretty! You'll ruin your lovely body!" "But you're my [son/daughter/boyfriend/girlfriend/mom/dad/etc.]; I can't see you any other way!" "But we need more [badass butch lesbians/women in STEM/etc.] to show women that they can do anything!" "But we need good men like you to promote healthy masculinity!" <- None of these are reasons not to transition. Transition is for you, not for others. Other peoples' indignation or sadness over your transition is not your burden to bear, and other peoples' expectations for you are not moral obligations you must fulfill. all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.

People in the notes are saying "You can!" referring just to the hospital visitation part, and sure (depending). But people should have access to ALL of the benefits of marriage without needing to be married.

You should be able to add anyone you want on your health insurance plan.

You should be able to sponsor the visa of anyone you choose to move to your home country.

You should be able to name anyone you choose as the legal-from-birth legal coparent of any child you give birth to.

You should be able to apply for student aid on your own at any age.

And yes, yes, ideally healthcare and college should be free, international migration should be unrestricted, and the entire concept of legal parenthood should be rewritten from the ground up. But right now we're talking about marriage benefits.
