OK since the phrase TEHM has gained popularity HELLA fast, I decided I would put my two cents in because why the hell not amiright!?

First and for most I’m gonna say what it means; a TEHM is a Trans Exclusionary Homosexual Man, i.e a gay man who refuses to see trans men as actually men. This DOES NOT apply to gay men who don’t feel attraction towards trans men.

This term ONLY applies to gay men who don’t see trans men as men. However, you are not a TEHM if you won’t date a trans man but still think they are men.

You don’t have to be attracted to trans men (or trans people in general) but you should still see them as the gender they identify as.

My opinion:

The term TEHM is long overdue and really should’ve been a thing a while ago. If TERF is a thing then TEHMs should be a thing.

TEHMs are transphobic and don’t seem to get that no one is forcing them to date trans men and can’t fathom the idea of trans men wanting to be seen as, well, MEN.

It takes 0 seconds to respect people’s identities and pronouns, but it takes minutes, hours, days, and sometimes years to be a hateful asshat advocating against something that isn’t harming anyone.

I’ve seen a lot of hate go to @spill-the-gender-tea and other people because of this phrase. Stop reducing people to their genitals and let people be themselves.

I never knew so many people would be talking about this post but let me better explain what TRE’s are.

TRE’s are the bad apples of trans activism. Just like how Terfs are the bad apples in Radical Feminism.

Here are the most common characteristics of a TRE:

Lesbophobia and Homophobia- A lot of TRE’s target homosexuals because they believe they are the most privileged group in the LGBT+. When in reality everyone in the LGBT+ is oppressed. It’s not a contest to see who has the most oppression points but TRE’s treat it as such. Thus they make lesbophobic and homophobic comments towards homosexuals. Even going so far as sending rape and death threats.

Cotton Ceiling and Rape Advocacy- TRE’s believe that a lesbian or a gay man that doesn’t include the opposite sex in their dating pool is transphobic. They try to guilt young lesbians and gay men into thinking their sexuality is wrong and they should include the opposite sex as well. In reality homosexuality is a biological fact and is even witnessed in Nature. It’s something you can’t undo nor change but TRE’s think otherwise. They believe everyone should be bisexual in the name of progression. Also Cotton Ceiling is not a terf term. { A lot of people believe it is} That term was coined by a Canadian trans woman porn star and was further spread thanks to PlannedParenthood. So in short TRE’s love to guilt trip and act rapey towards lesbians and gay men for not wanting to include the opposite sex in their dating pool.

Spreading False Information- TRE’s will lie about anything to win an argument. Even going so far as spreading rumors. They target the younger LGBT+ generation because they are a lot more gulliable and easily persuaded than the older generation. False information can include lies about recent studies, news articles, historic events, even LGBT+ terms.

Safe Space Take Over- TRE’S believe no cis lesbians nor gay men should have an exclusive safe spaces of their own. They believe it’s transphobic. There are many news articles of this happening. Specially in London.

Trolling- A lot of TRE’s see trans activism as a joke. Like 4-Chan scum, they will play anyone that falls for their tricks like a violin. And believe it or not most TRE’s are CIS. So I hope the misconception of TRE’s only being trans ends soon because most of these cancerous ulcers are CIS.

I hope this clears things up a bit. In all activist groups you will always have your bad apples that will take things way too far and hurt the cause rather than help it.

I see that some of you don’t like the term extremist but the lengths TRE’s will go to just to hurt LG people is pretty extreme to me.

They’re friend not withstanding, I was speaking over a lesbian about lesbian sexuality. As someone who isn’t a lesbian, that isn’t OK.

And I was also disrespecting a pre-transition trans woman and her partner. I would defend the sexualities of gay and lesbian people who are attracted to trans people, and like I said, I would extend that to pre-T trans men and their gay male partners, so I SHOULD extend that to my fellow pre-E trans women and their lesbian partners.

Especially when a lesbian says lesbians are capable of feeling attraction to one. I am not a lesbian. Nor am I some arrogant radfem who thinks being a feminist (or even another lesbian) let’s me dictate the sexualities of people that aren’t me personally. Sexuality is a very complicated thing. The boxes we’ve created for said sexualities aren’t necessarily the be all end all of human sexuality.
