I know I’m a bit late. I found out a while ago. It’s sad to see that our favorite sonic fic blog was taken down. I hadn’t heard anything from Affinity so I’m not sure what happened.
Thankfully we can still enjoy her works on archive of our own, but it’s sad to see the blog go.
I still haven’t forgotten about this place. I still want to write, but IRL shit has happened and now I have legal matters to attend to. Hopefully when things calm down I can write again.
My passion is always there, just covered by the depression and stress.
Thanks for staying with me. I can’t wait to see you all again with the next post.
Hi!! I realised I haven’t seen you on my feed in a little bit so I wanted to send in something and just ask how you’re doing? Good I hope ^-^
hello hello! I’m doing well, thank you for checking in! As far as coming up on your feed, I don’t think I will be anymore—or in the near future at least ^^;
school starts back up for me very soon and, well, looking at my schedule for the year it turns out that graduate level courses are in fact quite vigorous LOLOL but more importantly, my interests kind of may have sort of shifted away from the sonic verse….yes I did shed a tear T^T
as this might be my last post on this blog, I’ll say some parting words: thank you everyone for sticking with me through the last half year! I’m so glad that my introduction to fan fiction was through this fandom. everyone here made it the most fun it could be, so I am grateful to have experienced it ^^♡
continue to live as happily and freely as you can, I’ll spend my every night wishing for it!!!
Thank you very much for being the torchbearer of the x reader community, Affi. I hope your studies go well!! (I’ll still be sending you updates on Chapter 4 of Walling home HAH. YOU’RE NOT GETTING AWAY FROM ME!)
I’ll be sure to carry the torch in your name ❤️ Though I definitely won’t be fast. I’m more like a tortoise lol, but I’ll reach the end!
Don't worry, guys. I'm still writing. I'm just slow, haha. ߹𖥦߹
I'm not gonna give a timeline because every time I give one I always fail to meet it so let's just say that chapter 4 of Walking Home will be soon-ish :tm:
In other news, I plan to change the aesthetic of my blog a bit. That will come later, probably after the release of chapter 4 or 5. Again, no timeline lol.
I want to thank everyone real quick for being a reader of mine! I really appreciate the feedback y'all are giving me in the discord server lol. I look forward to what the future holds!

⤷Silver The Hedgehog | fluff, one shot, request
summary: Silver takes you out on a date.
warnings: none! all fluff!
a/n: GIRL. YOU KNOW THAT I DON'T FORCE MYSELF TO DO SHITE HAHAHA.
FR though, your request was AMAZING. I just HAD to get it done. I. Was. INSPIRED!! THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD, BESTIE!!
P.S: Yes, I did block your main tumblr. I'm in on the secret ☆⌒(ゝᴗ ∂)
(Insert GIF here.)
The day is beautiful. The sun is shining, barely a cloud can be seen in the sky. Small tweety birds chirp as they fly past on a warm wind that's barely a whisper, tousling the silver quills of a nervous hedgehog. All of the signs of spring coming to a close and summer just begining.
Silver, the said hedgehog, bounces his leg as he sits at a metal table outside of The Quaint Cafe, waiting for his date. That date was you. His head rested against his hands, his mouth pursed and eyebrows scrunched in thought. Silver was early to his date, exceptionally early. He wanted to be there before you did, but ended up at the cafe a sheer two hours earlier than what was agreed.
Silver looked up at the street clock, the longest hand slowly ticking away the seconds. Five minutes until the agreed time. He looks back down to the table, shifting in his seat. Silver fidgets with his hands, his mind racing a mile a minute.
'What if they don't like me?' Silver questions to no one. 'What if they only agreed to meet because I was so insistent?' Silver twiddled his thumbs, looking back and forth between the street clock and his hands.
A little clink brings Silver back to reality. He looks up from his hands to see a small teacup in front of him. He looks up a little bit more to see... You. You're wearing your favorite "sun outfit", as you called it once. A cute little blue sundress and a woven wide brim sunhat. Silver looks back at the clock. It's still five minutes until the meet time. He got up from his chair quickly, accidentally bumping the table and almost making the teacup topple over.
"Oh! Um! I'm sorry," he says, his hands outward in a steady motion. You giggle at his goofiness. He looks back up at you, eyes bright in excitement but his face also showing confusion. "You're early!"
"I am!" You say in an enthusiastic way. "I had a feeling I was keeping you waiting." You grabbed onto your dress, moving towards the other chair at the table. Silver quickly moved behind you and scootched the chair out for you. You thanked him before continuing: "How long were you waiting here?"
Silver gave a nervous sound as he thought of what to say. 'Crap, what do I say? I can't say I've been waiting here for two hours!'
"... Two hours?" Silver realized what he said right before he sat down. His face went slightly pale as he scootched himself up to the table. 'Wait, hold on, I wasn't supposed to say that!'
The look on your face said it all: complete shock. 'Oh, man. Now I really messed it up!'
"I... Wow. I've never had someone do that for me before. I'm touched." You moved your hand to your chest, above your heart, and had a slight blush on your face that had changed from a shocked expression to a flattered one.
As the conversation lulled, a smell wafted up to Silver's nose. It smelled sweet, familiar... It smelled like warm apples! He looked down at the teacup he almost knocked over, noticing the scent came from it. Was it apple tea? "Did you... get this for me?" He asked. You nodded.
"Mhm. I heard you had a fondness for apples, so I ordered apple tea for you." The smile on your face was genuine and a kind sparkle shone in your eye, almost akin to the soft sunlight in the morning.
"That's so sweet of you... But what about your drink?" Silver's eyebrow scrunched upwards. He didn't want to be the only one with a drink. 'Since you got mine... Maybe I should buy you yours?' He thought.
"Don't worry, I got myself something fancy," you said, lightly waving a hand in dismissal. "Besides, I wanted to treat you. You're cute."
'Cute? They think I'm cute?' "Well, thanks! You're cute too! The color of your hair really brings out your eyes. I like it!"
"Oh, you're too sweet, Silver." You lean forward, your grin never leaving your face. The woven hat on your head slightly bending in the light wind, catching Silver's eye and reminding him of something.
"Say, you wear that hat a lot. It must be sentimental to you, where did you get it?"
"Oh, I do, don't I?" You put your hand on your head, feeling the ribbon that goes around the crown. "I got it from a childhood friend." Resting your hands back on the table, your gaze becomes melancholy for a mere moment before returning back to cheerful.
"Maybe I can meet them someday!" Silver responds brightly.
"Possibly!" You shrug, eyebrows raised. You lean back down on your elbows. "So, Silver," you start. "You never told me. What do you do for a living?"
"Oh! I'm a..." Silver trails off. 'Wait, I can't tell them I'm a time traveler, can I?' "Traveler!"
"So you're like Sonic? I guess being a hero pays the bills in its own way."
"I wouldn't consider myself a hero like Sonic is," he laughs nervously.
"No? How come? You save a lot of people. Heck, you even saved me a few times."
"I'm just a guy who's willing to step up is all!" Silver smiles goofily, cratching the back of his head. "Oh, look, your order is here."
A waitress approached, holding a parfait and some silverware. "Sorry it took a while. Here's your order."
"Thank you," you say as the waitress sets it down in front of you before leaving.
"What did you get?" Silver asked. You took the spoon and dug it into the parfait, scooping it into your mouth. You seemed to be in bliss from the taste.
"A parfait! It's not really a drink, but it's fancy!"
"It looks fancy!" Silver took a sip from the tea you got for him. It was a bit bitter, and slightly cold now, but it definitely tasted like apples!
The two of you chatted away the hours, the sun slowly crawling across the sky. Neither of you noticed the time getting away from you.
"Oh, goodness. Look at the time," you say, looking at your watch. Silver looks up at the street clock.
"Oh, yeah, you're right. It is late."
"Today was a lot of fun, Silver." You grab your bag, getting up from your seat. Silver follows suit.
"Can I walk you home?"
You look at him, a bit surprised before it melts into another smile. It seems like the both of you have been smiling nonstop all day. Silver's cheeks hurt from it. "My, how chivalrous! You might as well sweep me off my feet like a knight in shining armor."
"I'd do it any day!" You giggle at Silver's bold claim.
The two of you walk down the street, cars passing by. Silver's walking on the outside of the sidewalk, close to you. He looks to you from the corner of his eye as you both walk in silence. He can't help but think about how cute you are. 'Out of the two of us, they're definitely the cuter one.'
You slowly come to a stop, pointing at a building "This is my apartment."
"Oh, wow. I didn't think you lived in the city center." For some reason, it struck him as familiar.
"Yeah, it makes commuting easier." You walk up the stairs and turn around. You're slightly taller than Silver now, he has to look up at you. "Thanks for walking me home."
"It's no problem."
"Say, Silver... Would you like to go on another date?"
"Another date?" 'Did she enjoy it that much?'
"Mhm. How about we go minigolfing?"
"Minigolfing?"
"Have you never heard of it before?"
"I can't say that I have." Silver shakes his head.
"Well... It's easier to show than explain. How about next week? We'll meet at the cafe again."
Silver nods. "Sure, that works for me."
"Great!" You lean down, kissing Silver on the forehead. 'Huh?!' "Thank's for the lovely date, Silver. I had a lot of fun." You turn towards the apartment complex's main entrance, opening the door with your keys. "Good night."
"Good... Good night." Silver waves as you disappear behind the door. He turns around, his limbs feeling like Jelly.
'Was that... Confirmation?! She likes me?' "Yes!" Silver yelled, twirling in the air with his telekenisis powers.

a/n: This was LITERALLY the fastest I've EVER wrote a fic. I know that it's shorter than usual, but this is just a short little thing to get me back into writing. Now, I just need to make the GIF for Affi's request... New to animation so I don't know what I'm doing lol. Sorry it's taking so long, Affi!
P.S. I'll do the fancy colors and banners later, I have the codes on my main PC and not my laptop aaaaaa.
Edit: I forgot the tag list, oops.
The wind is warm and light as it passes through the small clearing by the lake, tousling your hair as you sit on the small, checkered picnic blanket, small sweets inside of the picnic basket waiting to be eaten and a set of tea sitting before you, steam still slowly rising from the cute cup. It was a wonderful day in Wonderland, as it was every day, but today was extra special. Not for any particular reason, though.
As You sat there, breathing in the warm yet cool wind, you started to hear a slight humming. Soon enough, the humming turned into singing and you couldn't help but find yourself humming along. It was a beautiful tune and you wanted to join in on the festivity. Getting up, you looked around trying to find where the singing was coming from, slowly inching towards the lake.
You found yourself at the edge of the lake, peering into its crystal-clear water. You stared at your reflection, its image undisturbed from the wind, seeing it singing the heavenly tune. Ah, what wonder! You wanted to join your reflection, in its sublime performance.
You took a step into the lake. It's cold, but you took another step. The chilling water seeped into your shoes. It was uncomfortable at first, but after a while, you got used to it. It was a warm day, after all.
You continued to step forward, staring at your undisturbed reflection with a smile on your face, humming along to the beautiful tune. You're waist-deep now. Your reflection started to disappear. You heard the singing going deeper into the lake. You wanted to follow!
With a moment to steel yourself, you dove into the lake, following your reflection. You sank deeper and deeper. Glass-like fish swam around you, creating bubbles. Your clothes billowed up around you as you continued to sink. Plants coiled around your ankles, it tickled! The singing beckoned you further down.
Your lungs started to burn a bit from the lack of oxygen, but you could go further. You were almost there! Just a little farther...
That's when something roughly grabbed your arm.
You were hoisted up with a grunt, water splashing as you suddenly rose to the surface. No! You wanted to hear the singing more! You wanted to join in!
You coughed and sputtered as the mysterious person hauled you out of the lake, grunting along the way with their gruff voice. "What were you doing?"
"I... I was..." you cough out water between your words. Your peculiar savior sets you down on the grass, your body shivering from the icy cold lake. "I don't... know."
The gruff figure rubs your back as you sit with your mouth covered, coughing. You look up to see that your savior was none other than the Cheshire Cat. You should faintly see the worried look on his face underneath his large hood as he kneels beside you.
"Oh," you try to speak despite your coughing. "It's you, Chesh. What are you doing here?"
Cheshire's facial expression stiffens, his mouth frowning. "Making sure that you're not being stupid." He was always overprotective towards you. You giggle, your coughing fit calming down. "You're not from here, so it's dangerous to be by yourself."
"You're always there for me, aren't you, Kitty?" You smile. Cheshire seems taken aback for a moment before his scowl returns to his face.
"'Kitty'?" He echoes, his face showing how the word is sour on his tongue. "I'm not a cat."
"But everyone calls you the Cheshire Cat."
"Think of it more as a title, not literally." Chesh moves to sit down, leaning on his hands behind him. The wind moves his hood just slightly, revealing more of his face. His eyes have a faraway look.
"Oh." You pause for a moment, looking at Chesh as he stared off into the distance. That's when you realized something: "Wait, if Cheshire isn't your name, then what is your name?"
The question brought Cheshire back suddenly, his gaze shifting to you. He seemed confused for a moment, looking away once again while muttering an 'um'.
"It's Shadow," he says, his face a slight tinge of red.
"Oh, wow!" you exclaim, "That's such a pretty name!"
"I... What?" Shadow asks. It seems that he's taken aback.
"You're the cool shadow that a tree casts on a hot, sunny day," you say, "Or, you're the darkness that shields small animals from predators!"
"Enough, I get it," Shadow stops you. He turns away, his face entirely red. It makes you want to giggle but you're a bit afraid he might yell at you again. You decide to let it be, scootching yourself a bit closer to Shadow and leaning on his shoulder. "What are you doing?"
"Can't I cuddle with my savior as an appreciation?" you say, innocently.
↝The forest had never put you on edge. In fact, there was something about the nature of it that was soothing, calming to your mind especially as you sat by a pond that marked the very center of it. This small clearing was your safe space, the place you wandered off to whenever your thoughts got a little too loud or people had gone a little too far. Being alone here never bothered you, not even when night had settled over the land and the crickets had begun to chirp their songs.
↝You brought a little music player with you this time in a spur of the moment longing for something you couldn’t quite describe. A soft melody played from it while you laid on your back to watch the stars through the blanket of trees that blocked most of the sky. In this summer night, you hadn’t worried about growing cold when you began to slowly doze off, tranquil in the scene that appeared right out of a fairy tail, nor had you worried of running into unexpected company when all the villagers nearby were pleasant and full of goodwill. So you lowered your guard, humming along to the song that filled the air and completely oblivious to the presence that had caught sight of you.
↝It wasn’t until you felt breathing fanning over your face that you stirred to attention, immediately coming face to face with a mouth full of sharp teeth. Your heart dropped, but out of instinct, you froze, your eye’s wide as you faced the sudden danger.
↝The sound of your name said in a deep, gravely voice wasn’t processed until the ferocious creature was repeating itself, too familiar in the way it called you.
↝“Sonic?!” you belatedly realized, exhaling loudly as your anxiety rolled off you in long waves. When you rolled onto your side so you could sit up, Sonic—identifiable by his signature blue color and brilliant emerald green eyes—grinned with amusement.
↝“Sorry for scaring you,” he said with an awkward chuckle, “but I saw you laying here and thought you were in trouble.”
↝You dramatically shook your head, “I’m more worried about you! What happened?! Why are you…this?”
↝“Huh?—Oh! I forgot this is what I looked like right now,” he held out his hand to inspect it before scratching his pointed ear, “That explains your reaction more.”
↝Confusion engulfed you at his nonchalance, making you wonder if this was a common occurrence—if it was, then you wondered how you had ever missed it. Rather than question him anymore, though, you watched his movements with open curiosity, “You look like some kind of werewolf.”
↝“I think that’s the point. Though this whole cursed appearance thing plays out a little differently when you’re a hedgehog.”
↝His thick coat of fur looked…so soft. You desire to touch it had you reaching a hand up as he finished speaking, “If this is supposed to be a cursed appearance, then you’re right. The teeth and claws look intense, but you look…a little bit cute actually…”
↝A barked laugh filled his chest before he sat down in front of you, “Right, I can totally believe you after you almost fainted the moment you saw me.”
↝“That is completely justified by the fact that you snuck up on me! Besides, the first thing I saw wasn’t you! It was you drooling, and if that isn’t a jump scare then I don’t know what is.”
↝“Sure, let’s pretend that’s true,” he said, ignoring the way you interrupted him to claim your truth, and continuing with, “You still can’t exactly call this feral look ‘cute’.”
↝“Says who?”
↝“Everyone. You should see the reactions I get whenever I’m spotted.”
↝“Can’t people tell it’s you? I mean you’re wearing the same exact shoes and have the same eyes. I feel like it’s almost common sense.”
↝“Most people don’t admire me the way you do, so how could they realize?”
↝It was meant to be taken playfully, you knew, but for some reason his banter seemed harder to deal with when he looked like this. Maybe it was the way his body language exposed his true emotions, or maybe it was the way he was twice as big now. Whatever the case, you shut your mouth at his words, feeling revealed by that wolfish grin.
↝Noticing, he tilted his head, “What’s wrong?”
↝“Nothing.”
↝He spent a second just watching you before he stretched his arms, “You know…this form makes it easier to hear things. Even the smallest sounds.”
↝When he finished, he stood up and moved towards you, walking the short distance on all fours before he sat behind you.
↝“For example,” he grabbed you by the waist, eliciting a surprised yelp from you as he lifted you up in the air only to pull you back into his lap. “I can hear how fast your heart is beating.”
↝You weren’t sure if the sudden warmth in your face was a product of a blush or if it was just the body heat that radiated from him, but you still flustered. Stiffly, you sat up straight, unable to even turn your head when you felt him leaning over your shoulder from behind.
↝“Though, as fun as it is to try to make you shy, I think I’d enjoy it more to finally call you mine.”
↝A choked chuckle had turned into a fit of laughter as you covered your face, “That…was so corny. Great timing though, I almost fell in love with you.”
↝Feeling proud of himself for shooing away your nervousness, he swayed his tail. “Well this is embarrassing then, cause I’ve already fallen.”
↝Turning in his grip to face him, you smiled apologetically. “Sorry, but my heart already has someone in it. Someone smaller, bluer, and more hedgehog like.”
↝“Gee, that sounds like some tough competition, but can can he do this…”
↝In a single motion, he tightened his arms around your waist and let himself fall down onto his back, bringing you with him as he laid you over his chest. He was just as soft as he looked, and just as soothing in his embrace. Using one arm to cushion his head, he kept the other on your back as you cuddled against him, sighing happily as you felt a faint vibration of a content purr
SHADOW
⛧It was the night of the full moon when you set up camp atop a small hill, excitedly awaiting the meteor shower that was predicted to happen soon. Although a faint regret filled you for not having had the company of your friends—all of whom had been occupied by one thing or another—you didn’t mind the peace of the silence, slowly falling into the comfort of the midnight stars. The small pit fire you started crackled in front of you, warming you more than the coffee you held in your hands but not quite enough when you still shivered from the breeze.
⛧The sudden appearance of a furred animal had made you let out a cry of surprise, panicking when your thoughts immediately assumed it to be a bear or some other kind of carnivorous creature. In your fright, you flinched away from the large presence, spilling your drink all over the ground as you tried to move away from it. How it had managed to sneak up on you so silently despite its bulk, you had no idea; not that it mattered when it was already less than a foot away from you…what was the rule of thumb for not being seen as prey by wild animals again?!
⛧But just as quickly, your anxiety turned to shock when you noticed a set of golden rings attached to the wrists and ankles of the beast. Although he was massive and much more dangerous than you remembered him to be, you paled as you guessed the creature’s identity. “Shadow?!” you gasped, heart racing as you took in the sight of him. The disgruntled stare the creature gave you was all the answer you needed. None but Shadow would ever look at you as if you just asked whether the sun was orange or yellow. “How many forms do you have?!”
⛧He exhaled sharply, rolling his eyes before randomly settling down beside you and letting his heavy head rest on your lap and catching you by complete surprise. Maybe it wasn’t him after all?! There was no way he’d behave like this…? You held your hands in the air, unsure of what to do with them as you asked, “…what are you doing?”
⛧“You don’t need to yell, I can hear you perfectly fine,” his voice was deeper and raspier, making your mouth gape. He shut his eyes so casually, as if he were taking a nap, entirely unbothered by your stupefied state.
⛧“Since when could you turn into…this—doom morph makes sense. Going super does too…but a wolf?”
⛧“I’m a werehog.”
⛧You dropped your hands to the side. “Ah, that explain everything. Thank you so much for making me understand. I’m sorry for ever doubting you.”
⛧A low rumble in his chest expressed his exasperation and he wrapped his arms around your midsection with a frown and a sharp flick of his tail, making your mind burst at the seams. Shadow? Affectionate? You knew the two of you were close enough to be considered friends, but never before had he ever touched you, much less cuddled! Whatever happened to him must have been truly life changing.
⛧“It’s pure negative energy from the chaos emeralds. Something went wrong when I was using one,” he explained after a moment.
⛧You ignored the fluttering of your heart at his behavior, completely confused by the suddenness of it and how unusual it was, but not entirely willing to separate yourself from it when he felt so soft and warm. Perhaps he felt bad for spilling your coffee and wanted to make up for it by sharing his body heat? A laughable idea, but romantic enough for you to want to believe. “Is it permanent? Come to think of it, I haven’t seen you in a few days—have you been hiding?”
⛧“No, it only happens at night. If you haven’t seen me it’s because I’m avoiding you,” he meant it to be a witty remark, falling back on a grumpy tone whenever he felt teased, but it came out less terse than he’d anticipated. Almost like a fact.
⛧You lowered a brow in question, “Me, specifically? Why?”
⛧He didn’t respond, choosing instead to breathe as if he were about to doze off.
⛧“Shadow?” you called, resting your hand on his forehead and digging your thumb into the space between his eyes, just enough so you could pull his lids open to peek, “Shadow.”
⛧You repeated his name, growing more childish as you did by lightly poking his cheek and lifting his lip to see his sharp teeth. Yet he was stubbornly ignoring you, successfully doing so until you reached up to feel his ears. You couldn’t help it! They just looked so much more inviting now that they were bigger and fluffier, and he wasn’t paying any attention to you anyways, so why couldn’t you?
⛧You hadn’t excepted him to jerked his head back, off your lap, when he felt your touch; he looked at you as if you had slandered his family name. When he finally responded, there was a subtle growl to his voice.
⛧“I don’t avoid you, I avoid this. What you do to me. It’s bad enough to deal with when I’m normal. It’s worse now when everything is heightened.”
⛧“Well, if you hate it so much then why are you still here?”
⛧“Because I hate it more when I’m not.”
⛧You stilled at his words, staring at him with a dumbfounded expression. With your mind reeling with joy at his…unique confession, you forgot to respond—something that Shadow took poorly when he pulled away from you, standing up with a grunt before turning to walk away.
⛧“Wait, where are you going?!” you scrambled up to follow him, taking two steps for each one of his. “You can’t just leave after saying something like that!”
⛧“I can.”
⛧“No! You can’t! Don’t you even care about what my response might be?”
⛧“I saw enough when you were staring at me.”
⛧“Sorry I wasn’t more gracious after hearing my longtime crush tell me they were utterly and obsessively in love with me!”
⛧He stopped and turned to you, still wearing a frowning expression as he said, “That’s not what I said.”
⛧You shrugged, “I summarized.”
⛧A scowl had made his appearance glisten with danger under the moonlight. “You’re playing games with someone who could tear you apart in less than a second.”
⛧The fact that he hadn’t, that he still stopped to talk with you, made you feel brave with your response, “That’s…kind of romantic.”
⛧He lifted his hands that had doubled in size, showing off the sharp claws that had tore through his gloves, “Don’t you care that I’m some big, hideous monster?”
⛧You gave him an obvious once over, dragging your gaze all along his form before shaking your head, “You look fine to me. Pretty as always.”
⛧“Pretty?” his tone was one that showed you he thought you were insane.
⛧Rolling your eyes, you crossed your arms over your chest, matching his exasperation as you told him, “Couldn’t you just kiss me after a confession instead of doubting that I could return your feelings?“
⛧“You never said you felt the same.”
⛧“Well, I do. A lot. And I never thought you would have reciprocated, so I’m really happy right now!”
⛧Shadow’s hardened expression faltered, waiting for you to say anything at all that might expose your lies, but you only watched him intently as you waited for him to do something. As if written by fate, a series of glittering lights caught both of your attention; the meteor shower you had waited so patiently for had started. “I almost forgot about that!” you gasped, reaching for Shadow’s hand so you could pull him back to your campsite. All the strength simmering in his body could not stop him from following you silently, helpless to the way your eyes reflected the light.
SILVER
ʚ♡ɞ Ever since Silver started acting strangely, you couldn’t shake the unease that had settled in your chest. He was never one to keep secrets, so when you confronted him, you saw right through the flimsy excuse he gave to explain his strange behavior before he suddenly took off, flying into the sky with a speed that left you stunned. Since then, he hadn’t returned and the worry in your heart had lead you to the outskirts of the village.
ʚ♡ɞ Spending the evening searching for him would have been fine if not for the recent rumors that had sprung whispers from the villagers. A ghostly knight, they gossiped, roamed outside the village borders, luring wandering travelers with promises of serving a forgotten king. Normally such an obvious tale wouldn’t have been acknowledged by you, but too many people had claimed they saw it, the deathly white body and the multiple swords it carried. It still hadn’t frightened you, but as the sky dimmed and the shadows rose, you couldn’t help but think about such a presence existing.
ʚ♡ɞ So when you suddenly heard movement, you froze along the path, straining your ears for the source…perhaps it was time to go home now. You could continue your search for the missing hedgehog tomorrow morning…
ʚ♡ɞ Another rustle seemed to follow you as you turned back the way you came and this time you couldn’t fight it. Nervousness bubbled up inside your chest, and you tried your best to act nonchalant, but you heart began to increase in its pace. Your fear was palpable to the senses of the being that lurked behind the brush of greenery, and it pulled a soft whine that made you immediately swivel around to face the danger. Against your better judgment, you followed the familiarity in your heart as you hesitantly called out, “…Silver?”
ʚ♡ɞ There was an eerie moment of silence so filled with your anxiousness that you had to hug yourself to keep from fiddling with your worry. Suddenly, there was a silhouette and you braced yourself for the worst as it grew in size when it emerged from the wall of bushes and trees. Holding your breath prevented you from letting out a stunned gasp when, from the darkness, a large figure stepped forward; it was tall with ghoulishly white fur and claws so sharp they could pass as blades. It was overwhelmingly fearsome…and incredibly pitiful with its ears pinned back and it’s posture hunched over in an attempt to appear smaller. You would have ran either way, but the golden eyes that watched you were ones you could never mistake.
ʚ♡ɞ “…Silver?” you called again, questioning your rationality
ʚ♡ɞ The creature nodded slowly, seeming unwilling to open its mouth
ʚ♡ɞ “Silver! What…how?!”
ʚ♡ɞ “I don’t know either,” he finally said and you realized why he hadn’t wanted to speak. Sharp, dangerous teeth peeked through his lips, looking capable of biting through anything. The idea made you shiver. “It just started one night. I’ve lost some of my memories of what happened, so I don’t know how to fix it either…are…do I scare you?”
ʚ♡ɞ You put a hand to your chest, “Only when you sneak up on me like that! Why didn’t you say anything sooner? I’ve been looking for you, I was worried that something bad happened after you flew away yesterday and I hadn’t seen you since!”
ʚ♡ɞ “I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to meet me like this…I didn’t want you to hate me,” his voice was more rough than usual but you still heard the insecurity in it.
ʚ♡ɞ “Hate you? How could I ever?! You’re still the same Silver I know…more or less.”
ʚ♡ɞ “More furry and less able to control myself,” he admitted, sitting down the way a dog would. “Another reason why I didn’t want to meet you like this. It’s like everything is heightened and it just feels more intense. I can smell your nerves and you—“
ʚ♡ɞ He snapped his mouth shut immediately, making you blink at him confused. “…and what?”
ʚ♡ɞ “Nothing!” he abruptly said.
ʚ♡ɞ You frowned, “Silver.”
ʚ♡ɞ Hesitation gripped him, but urges pried him open. He could feel his tail thumping against the ground as he took in your presence. “Uhm…each emotion has a scent. Yours changed when you saw me, but it’s nice…like the same smell of home.”
ʚ♡ɞ That…didn’t sound like it would work in your favor. Not when you had your own secrets from him, so you slowly motioned for him to continue, “…How much can you pick up…?”
ʚ♡ɞ “…All of it,” he sighed, turning his head to the side sheepishly, “your worry, your relief, your stress, your…love, and…interest…”
ʚ♡ɞ When you flushed at the exposure, he turned back to you with an apologetic smile as he said, “Embarrassment.”
ʚ♡ɞ “Okay! How about you cover your nose while we talk?” you asked, voiced high pitched as you waved your hands.
ʚ♡ɞ “It’s not just my nose, I can taste them too.”
ʚ♡ɞ “Taste?!”
ʚ♡ɞ He nodded, opening his mouth and letting his long tongue roll out in emphasis. “Everything is enhanced in size and ability.”
ʚ♡ɞ He swallowed his tongue, turning bashful as if he hadn’t held to power to hunt gods down, “if it makes you feel better…I feel the same way.”
ʚ♡ɞ “Embarrassed?”
ʚ♡ɞ “Yes. But also, uhm, love.”
ʚ♡ɞ “…Love like a friend…or more?”
ʚ♡ɞ “More.”
ʚ♡ɞ “Oh,” the confession made your heart race again, this time for different reason than fear.
ʚ♡ɞ He choked on his inhale, reeling back as he held out his hand to cover his muzzle. “Maybe we can discuss this later. During the day when I’m not like this. You’re making it hard to think when you smell so nice!”
ʚ♡ɞ You stammered, stepping forward in protest, “I didn’t even do anything!”
ʚ♡ɞ But he shook his head aggressively, “Your affection is drowning me and everything is heightened, remember?! I feel like I’m drowning in silk somehow! I’m leaving before I make any bad moves, I’ll meet you at your house in the morning so we can really talk, okay?”
ʚ♡ɞ You were left to process the event as he set off, running on all fours as the base of his heart began to thump with longing.
summary: Sonic takes you snowboarding for the first time.
warnings: None! All Fluff!
a/n: Sorry for the delay! Depression hit hard lol. I made this one first person because I was wanting to try something, hope you like it!
I sit on the seat of the ski lift, my feet dangling over a good 100ft drop. I’m shivering, though not from the cold. From the absolute fear that I have for my life. I absolutely, positively, hate heights. Sonic sits next to me, his elbow propped up on an arm rest as he stares at me, a teasing smile on his face. God, I’m so angry at him. Why did he persuade me to do this? How did he persuade me to do this? I’m a beginner, I shouldn’t be going straight to the top of the mountain!
I gripped Sonic’s hand tightly, fear encompassing my thoughts as I stare at the drop below us, slowly decreasing as we near the end of the line. The end of my life. I couldn’t blink. Sonic squeezed his hand back, making me flinch. I almost forgot that he was there. I looked over at him, my neck refusing to turn but I forced it to anyway. It’s an unpleasant feeling.
As I made contact with Sonic’s eyes I realized that his smile wasn’t teasing. It was worried. Oh, now I felt bad.
“We’re almost to the top,” Sonic said, breaking the silence. “Don’t worry.”
I blinked. It had been a while since I blinked. Ouch, dry eyes hurt. I gave Sonic an annoyed look, my eyebrows scrunching together as I frowned at him. “This is your fault, y’know!”
Sonic laughed. I could tell that he tried to keep it in with how his lips pressed together but it was an immediate failure. He laughed loudly, tears forming in his eyes. How was this that funny to him?! I scoffed and turned away, hot anger replacing the fear in my chest.
“How could I let you take me up here?” I vented. “Why did I even agree— ugh!” I cut myself off as Sonic continued to laugh. He was covering his mouth, trying his best to keep it in as best as he could. “How could you be laughing in this situation?!”
I turned towards him, parting our hands from their hold so I could use him as a punching bag. He defended himself, using his hands as a shield against my weak hits.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Sonic says in between his laughter. “WOAH—!” He shouts as the entire lift shakes, my own voice coming out as a shrill shriek. He grabs onto my shoulders tightly and I instinctively hug his torso as we wait for the lift to calm down.
“Careful, there! Don’t want you to fall off,” Sonic says in a light tone. I look up at him, my brows furrowed and my cheeks puffed out in anger and annoyance. “C’mon,” he chuckles, “don’t give me that look.”
“What look?” I ask, turning away with a huff and crossing my arms as I lean back in my seat, knowing fully well I was giving him a look.
“You always give me a look whenever you’re frustrated or annoyed,” Sonic says, indulging in my feigned ignorance with a teasing smirk.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, sir,” I responded, keeping the act going.
“Whatever you say, my dear,” Sonic continues. Shit, he used that pet name. My face flushes red. He knows that I’m not used to pet names!
“Sonic!” I protested, but he just grabbed my hand with a laugh before sliding off the ski lift onto the ground.
Oh. We’re here. I tense up.
“Don’t worry, it’s okay,” Sonic says in a soothing voice. He helps me off the ski lift before I’m taken back around to the bottom of the mountain in an almost never ending loop.I hold onto Sonic’s hands, our fingers intertwining. My face is still flushed red from the pet name. He smiles at me, one of his more brighter and innocent smiles. I feel like I’m falling for him all over again with just that smile.
Without warning, Sonic kissed my forehead with a chuckle before leading me forward. As we walked hand in hand I brushed my free hand against my forehead where he kissed me. I hide my face in the collar of my jacket, embarrassed.
As we reached the start of the ski path my eyes widened. I could see a beautiful scenery for miles ahead, all painted with a pinkish purple sky from the rising sun. I was frozen in my spot as I stared. Was this why Sonic wanted me to come up here? Now that I think about it he didn’t specifically say he wanted me to snowboard down the mountain.
I immediately feel guilty about my actions earlier. I turn to Sonic, opening my mouth to apologize, only to see him silently admiring the same view with a content smile on his face. I stared at him. Yeah, I really am falling for this goofball all over again.
Sonic noticed me staring, looking back at me with a chuckle before speaking: “Like what you see?” He wiggled his eyebrows.
I push Sonic away with a grunt, knocking him over and onto the snow.
“You wish!” I say before playfully sticking my tongue out at him.
“Oh, to only wish that my girlfriend would look at me like the morning sun on the mountain tops—“ Sonic said dramatically, only to be rudely interrupted by a snowball in the face.
“Oh, my, I wonder where that came from?” I say, feigning surprise as I walk away. “It seems like there’s a fiend throwing snowballs around!” I giggle to myself as I turn to face him, walking backwards. The look on Sonic’s bewildered face is priceless. Sonic gets up, a snowball in hand ready to be thrown at me, before he stops and drops the snowball, rushing forward.
“Wait— stop!”
My leg hits the trunk of a fallen tree, catching me off guard. I lose my balance and almost fall over it but Sonic was there before I could. He held my arm as I held his gaze, slowly setting me down on top of the trunk. I looked behind me, a bit afraid that I almost tumbled down the mountain. Thankfully, it was just regular snow instead of another long drop.
I looked behind back over at Sonic, who held my hand like his life depended on it. I raised my brow in confusion. “You could have just let me trip and laughed.”
“I could have… but why should I let a royal princess fall in the snow?”
Gosh, he can be smooth sometimes.
I decide to quickly change the subject, else Sonic will subject me to a face of burning coals
“So…” I start, retracting my hand from his, “Is this why you wanted me to come up here?” I gestured to the gorgeous view. Sonic scratched the back of his head, seeming shy, before swiping his index finger under his nose.
“Yeah. I wasn’t gonna actually make you snowboard down the entire mountain. That’d be cruel.”
“Really?”
“Of course! Unless.. you want to?” I stuck my tongue back out at him, my cheeks puffed out in annoyance. “Okay, okay!” Sonic raised his arms in defense. “Got it, no snowboarding down this slope.”
Sonic sat down next to me on the log. Silence grew between us, but it was comfortable. His arm slinked across my back, holding onto me tightly. I looked up to him, getting a thought in my head.
Should I act on it? I think I should.
I turn towards Sonic, attracting his attention, and cup his face in my hands. I’m a bit nervous, I’m not usually the one who initiates these things. Sonic looks at me quizzically, but before he figures out what I’m planning I should lean in… Sonic held my face in his hands.
Damn it, he figured it out.
Taking the lead, Sonic lightly kissed me on the lips. It was warm. It left a light tingling sensation.
Note: Y'all I wrote this as a joke, and to feed the Eggman fans briefly, but should I write Eggman for real? cuz I lowkey ate. Sonic is in this but Y/N has a sibling relationship with him and yes they are not underage so don't mistake it as love rivalry please 😭 Eat well @affinitytales 😉
Cw: Kidnapping, Stockholm Syndrome, human reader (Sorry! don't feel comfortable writing mobian x human), other than that just fluff!
🐸🧚🏼♀️🐸
Truth be told, you were more than capable of escaping this flimsy cage, but after seeing your captor, you changed your mind. Hi, your name was Y/N L/N, and it looked like you had Stockholm Syndrome as well as daddy issues, another thing to add to the endless list of issues. Amy will have a ball with this one.
His booming tone broke you out of your increasingly concerning thought trail with a start.
"Ah finally! I have succeeded in capturing at least one of Sonic's friends, well it is the human one but still, success at last!"
Wasssss it bad that that kinda turned you on- yes Y/N, yes it is bad to think that. But you couldn't help it, he was very handsome and so theatrical too, and besides he at least had goals in life; sure they were evil and villainous goals but still, better than most men these days.
You were snapped out of your daydreams yet again by realising you were staring when he spoke up again, less theatrical this time, aw shame.
"Why are you uh ahem... why are you looking at me like that?" He asked, his tone originally awkward, and almost nervous before he cleared his throat and changed his tone to a more commanding, bad move on his part.
"Oh, no reason..." You trailed off, you were completely crazy for being attracted to this guy right? I mean Sonic, one of your closest friends, is always saving the world from him... Butttt maybe a little romantic thoughts wouldn't be too bad, I mean what is he going to do? Lock you up again?
"You know..." You said, cutting him off from one of his rants about capturing you, it was very adorable to see him look so offended.
"May I ask why you choose to kidnap little old me?" You asked, innocently, leaning on the bars of your cage.
Eggman looked taken aback by the question before he answered gruffly.
"Well I uh saw you first so I- why are you asking me this?! Going to pawn all of these answers back to Sonic aren't you?!"
Okay, so he got defensive quickly, but they say the best men are the most guarded right?
You quickly shook your head before answering quickly, not wanting him to be upset with you.
"No, no, I would never, can't I ask questions?" You ask with an innocent gaze.
"Uh... I suppose so, but you better not share any of this with Sonic!" Eggman spoke, very unsure but not uncomfortable with the situation, though he did say your friend's name like a slur. Oh well, you did always like your men older...
You only got about three questions in (Ones that he explained in great detail so it wasn't completely your fault, geez this guy was endearingly lonely), before Sonic came busting in.
"Eggman! Hand them- What the hell?!" Sonic started before he saw you two simply talking, well Eggman was, you were just staring at him with a star-struck expression.
"Sonic?! What are you- Oh right" Eggman said outraged before he remembered that you were indeed technically his prisoner.
You gave Sonic a playful wave as he continued his usual speech.
"Let them go, Egghead!"
"Why should I do that? They have proved themselves to be quite useful" He retaliated back.
"Really?" You asked but before he could answer, if even was going to. Sonic surged forward into a spin-dash and broke the cage within a second effortlessly, scooping you up in his arms in a instant.
"Wha- Hey! My pr- I mean cage!" Eggman yelled.
"Your what?" You said gleefully, giving him a playful wink causing Eggman to falter for a moment. Sonic groaned but took the opportunity and zoomed off.
"Stop them!" Eggman yelled again as robots swarmed after you, but it was too late as you two were long gone.
After a very short amount of time, Sonic dropped you off back at your house, steadying you as you stumbled.
"Was it just me, or was he kinda into me?" You asked almost immediately, tugging your hair in a bashful way.
"Urgh, you are hopeless you know that? I mean Eggman? Really?"
"Oh shut up, you don't even have a girlfriend, probably couldn't get one anyway."
"Uh excuse you, I am the local hero, I could get a girl if I want, I just... don't."
"Whatever you say..."
There was a brief silence before you spoke up again.
Y/N IS SOO REAL FOR THIS. BACKFLIPPING THIS WAS SO SILLY AND CUTE I DID NOT EXPECT IT!!:&/&
wait some of my favorite details:
“but they say the best men are the most guarded right?”
yapper eggman becoming even worse when someone actually listens to what he has to say
“You think he will kidnap me again anytime soon?”

summary: You work on the arc as a scientist, but you’re the only one who treats him like a person.
warnings: None! All Fluff!
a/n: Due to unfortunate reasons (a video editing project kept corrupting itself and I couldn't fix it), this fic is going to be published as an outline. I wanted to keep my promise of sending out a full one-shot fic tonight but I had no time :(
More stuff was gonna be included, such as the comfort when Shadow questions why he's made/where he came from (if game/movie canon) but at the time of making the outline I didn't specify which canon I chose. I think I ended up mixing the two canons together, but it's been a hot minute and I didn't write the specifications down.
I really liked this prompt a lot so I will definitely try to make the actual fic later and post it on AO3. For now, I hope you like the outline <3
- You and one other scientist go to fetch Shadow for a checkup.
- You find him playing with Maria in her room.
- Shadow doesn’t want to get a checkup up but Maria tells him to go, saying it’s OK.
- The other scientist gets fed up and grabs his arm roughly, dragging Shadow out of the room.
- Shadow squeals in pain, desperately trying to get out of the scientist’s grip.
- You can see the tears in his eyes.
- You go up to the scientist and tell him to let you do it.
- He relents, grumbling how a “woman is always better at wrangling that thing.”
- Shadow immediately ducks behind Maria after being let go, gripping onto her colorful shirt.
- She’s trying to calm Shadow down but he’s having none of it.
- You approach calmly, kneeling down on the floor.
- You notice how tightly Shadow is clinging to Maria, and it makes your heart hurt.
- You smile, saying hi and introducing yourself to Shadow.
- “I know, checkups are scary. I hate them too.”
- The other scientist groans at your method.
- “I’ll make sure that it goes by as fast as possible.”
- You reach your hand out, palm faced upwards, waiting for Shadow to take it.
- He doesn’t.
- Shadow burrows himself more into Maria’s back.
- You lower your hand, thinking.
- That’s when an idea hits you.
- “Would it help if Maria comes with you?”
- The other scientist gasps, flabbergasted.
- Maria’s not allowed in the exam room.
- Shadow nods after a moment.
- Maria’s happy.
- She gets up immediately, taking Shadow’s hand.
- You get up as well, meeting the other scientist at the door.
- He chastises you for your decision, reminding you that Maria isn’t allowed in the exam room.
- You say that you know, but it’s the only way to get Shadow to cooperate.
- The scientist disagrees, you should have just dragged him out.
- “He doesn’t have a choice!” he shouts at you.
- “Is he sentient?”
- That catches him off-guard.
- “He is a child. He is his own person whether he’s an alien, experiment, or otherwise.
- “I suggest treating him like you would treat your own child, or do you want the chief to know about you-know-what?”
- The scientist stutters and storms off.
- You take Maria’s hand and start walking down the hall, glad your bluff worked.
- As the weeks go by, you’ve been designated as the person to go get Shadow for his checkups and tests.
- You even play with Maria and Shadow some days.
- Other days you’re supervising their more risky playtimes, making sure they’re not hurt.
- You’ve basically became the cool aunt.
- Soon enough, Shadow stops needing Maria to go with him for his checkups.
- The chief wasn’t too happy that Maria was around during the checkups, but, thankfully, he understood that it was the only way to keep Shadow calm.
This is the second ask scam that I've gotten today. I don't normally get them but this is getting ridiculous.
This is a warning: anybody who comes into either my DMs, inbox, or email, if you somehow get ahold of that, will be immediately blocked, deleted, and reported.
I suggest doing the same if anybody reading this gets them too.

summary: You help Shadow wash his quills.
warnings: None! All Fluff!
a/n: aaaaaaAAAAA!!! Sorry this one is late! I hope you like it anyway <3 Anyway, I'm honestly not too confident in this one. Mostly because I don't think I characterized Shadow all too well compared to my high school au but I think it's because I was putting too much thought into it instead of just letting it flow. To which, once I did start just letting myself just write, everything just started flowing a lot better!
Also sorry for the abrupt ending.
You sat down in your chair, the plush comfort immediately giving you relief from the stresses of your day. You sigh in contentment, breathing in the smell of your favorite candle as the fireplace next to you roared. It was a lovely overcast, the branches from the flower trees outside lightly tapped on your window from the wind. It was the perfect weather and atmosphere to read a book. You grabbed your current work-in-progress from the side table and set it in your lap, flipping to the pages where your bookmark was nestled in-between. The sound of pages lightly flipping as the fire in the fireplace crackled and popped filled the room, making you invested and immersed in the story.
As you were reaching the pinnacle of a very suspenseful chapter in your book, you heard the front door open and a loud crack of thunder roll overhead, making you whip your head towards the front door where a dark, menacing figure stood in the doorway. Your brain short-circuited. Your adrenaline was already raised due to your book, now a strange person was entering your home! You screamed in surprise, clutching your book, before noticing that it wasn't a serial killer here to murder you. It was just your boyfriend, Shadow.
Well, that's embarrassing.
You coughed and “calmly” set your book on the side table. Shadow raised an eyebrow towards you as he walked inside, another clap of thunder sounding out before he closed the door.
“Shadow, you scared me,” you said, trying to laugh away the fear. That's when you notice it: Shadow is absolutely caked in mud! “Shads, what happened? Are you okay?”
Shadow grumbled, looking away. The only thing you could hear was “Sonic,” and you weren't sure if you even heard that correctly.
Getting up from your chair, you approached Shadow, taking his hand. Shadow narrowed his eyes at you. You roll your eyes and scoff. “I'm not gonna do anything funny, I promise. C'mon, let's get you cleaned up.”
Shadow huffed as the two of you walked to the bathroom, you deviating to the supply closet while he continued inside, closing the door behind him. You sighed. You knew that Shadow was prideful, and if it was Sonic that caused this then his ego would be really bruised... You felt a bit guilty for indulging in your desire to take care of him, he's his own hedgehog after all. That would just bruise his Ego even more. You grab one of the shampoo bottles, looking over the label, before tucking it into your arm and grabbing a washcloth, some bar soap, and some towels. As you exit the room you wonder if you should just drop off the products and let him take care of himself.
“Okay, Shadow, I got the...” You say, trailing off as you open the door. The bathroom was already a mess. Shadow was kneeling in the middle of a mud puddle, barefoot, with his head over the tub. Your face pales, a little upset. You had just cleaned the bathroom this morning! It's okay, it's fine... This is what bathrooms are for. You take a deep breath. It's not Shadow's fault. You set the soap products and towels on the counter, the shampoo bottle making a loud noise. Shadow flinched slightly at it. Oops, you accidentally slammed it down. You didn't mean to do that.
Shadow lifted his hand out towards you, about to say your name, but you turned and left the room. You had back to the supply closet, grabbing more towels, the ones that have been stained with... something before walking back into the bathroom. You found Shadow sitting on the edge of the tub, looking at you. His face showed concern and a bit of guilt. You sighed and smiled at him, you couldn't get mad at such a trivial thing, could you?
Shadow scratched the back of his neck, looking down at the ground. “I'm sorry,” he started, but you wouldn't let him finish his sentence.
“Honey, it's okay,” you say, “This is what bathrooms are for. I can just clean it again later.” Shadow nodded at your response, but you could tell that he still felt a bit guilty.
You grabbed one of the stained towels, setting the rest on the counter, and tossed it directly onto the puddle on the floor before grabbing another, folding it, and setting it on the floor before kneeling on it, turning the tub faucet on. Shadow watched as you used your hand to test the temperature until it was warm enough.
“Okay,” you say, retracting your hand from the running water and standing up. “Hop in whenever you're ready.”
You walk to the counter, grabbing the shampoo and soaps before turning around and setting the products on the edge of the tub as Shadow gets in. You can hear him audibly start to relax with the quietest hum you've ever heard from a person. It's honestly adorable.
“Let me know if you need anything, okay?” You smile before turning to leave the room. Before you could get far, though, a hand catches onto your sleeve.
“Wait,” Shadow says. You stop and look back at him. You look into his dark, red eyes and the emotions that swirl behind them, though what those emotions are you're not too sure.
Shadow's a closed book, he doesn't like sharing his emotions with other people. The fact that the two of you are dating is even a miracle in itself. Shadow looks away for a moment, seemingly gathering his thoughts, but he doesn't let go.
“I.. apologize,” Shadow manages to get out. You turn to him fully, your attention entirely on him. “I ruined your evening. Messed up the bathroom that you just cleaned, interrupted your book...”
“Shadow,” you interrupt, kneeling in front of him so you're eye-level. “I said it's okay. Bathrooms are meant to get messy, and I can always resume a book later.” You cup his face in your hands, rubbing your thumbs along his cheeks with a smile on your face. Shadow melts into your touch, closing his eyes and breathing out.
Ultimately, you must let go. Shadow grumbles as you do, but then he raises and eyebrow as you grab the shampoo bottle off of the edge of the tub, squirting some of the product onto your hand.
“I can do this myself,” Shadow says, squinting his eyes in suspicion. You cup some of the water in the tub in your other hand after setting the shampoo bottle sound and letting it drop onto Shadow's head, the mud gliding down and into the warm water, staining it brown.
“I know,” you say simply, putting the shampoo onto Shadow's head and starting to scrub. “But I realized... That you probably couldn't get to this giant ant's nest that's on the back of your head.”
“What?” Shadow tries to reach around to feel if what you say is true. It wasn't, you just wanted to tease him.
“I'm joking,” you say, “You're always so easy to tease, Shadow.” You giggle, remembering the many times you made Shadow flustered. His flushed face is always so cute to you.
Shadow scoffs, “What's with you and always...” He trails off. Shadow was starting to relax in your ministrations, sighing as the tension of the day started the melt away.
“Hm?” You hum, stopping and leaning over his shoulder. “What was that, Shadow?” You tease.
“... Nothing,” he mumbles.
“If it's just nothing, then maybe I should just let you wash all this mud off?” You slowly lift your hands away from his hand, but he quickly grabs onto them and return your hands to his quills.
“I didn't say for you to stop,” Shadow says with a bit of a pout, his face flushed. He wasn't used to saying what he wanted, and it made you giggle.
“Oh, so you want me to keep going?“ you say, but Shadow only responds with a deep grumble, not really saying anything. You knew what he wanted, but you wanted to make him say it. “Shadow, I need you to use your words.”
“... Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
“I want you to keep going.”
“That's more like it,” you giggle, grabbing the shampoo bottle and lathering more onto his quills.
The room becomes quiet, the only sound in the room being your humming as you scrubbed Shadow's scalp. The water in the tub turned a dark brown and cold over the course of 30-ish minutes. You weren't really keeping track. Reaching down into the tub, you unplugged the drain, letting the muddy water drain before grabbing the detachable showerhead and turning on the water. As you aimed the showerhead towards Shadow's soapy head he suddenly turned around, grabbing your arm. You slipped in surprise at Shadow's sudden movement, making a small yelp. You blinked, your face was right in front of Shadow's as you practically on top of him. You could feel your cheeks turn red from the proximity. You could never get used to being so close to him, he's too hot.
“For someone's who's constantly teasing me,” He cups your face with his free hand, “You like to leave yourself open to counterattacks.”
“Um—” you didn't even get to start your thought before Shadow closes the distance between the two of you with a kiss.

summary: Shadow's worried, so he followed you to the library.
warnings: Miscommunication, Shadow's P.O.V.
a/n: Man, these kids really need to speak their minds. (I need to learn that, too.) Also, I injured my wrist, somehow(???), so this was written with a lot of pain lol.
Oh, and I decided on a theme song for this little series. Not because of the lyrics themselves, but Carly Rae Jepson's Call Me Maybe's vibe is very "hopeless romantic teenagers" lol.
On top of that, I do have an idea for the ending of Walking Home. Not exactly sure how we'll get there, but I'll certainly try to make it as entertaining as possible! ღ
P.S. There was an edit to the last chapter. See if you can find it!
P.P.S. This took WAYYY longer to write than I wanted it to, BUT IT TURNED OUT SO GOOD AAAAAAAAAAAAA-

Shadow approached the double doors to the school library, stopping. He had followed you in haste, not really thinking about what he would do once he found you. What would he say? What would he do? He can't exactly comfort you, could he? Well, isn't that why he followed you? Shadow closes his eyes and takes a breath through his nose, trying to calm his thoughts. Letting them run rampant right now isn't going to help the situation. Shadow balls his hand into a fist at his side while the other grips the strap of his backpack like a lifeline. He just had to make sure you were okay, nothing else. He didn't even have to talk to you.
With a huff of finality, Shadow gripped the handle of the door to the library, pushing it open with ease. A small tinkle of a bell rang out as the door opened, alerting the librarian at the desk who looked up from her book, which was poorly disguised as a magazine. A classic move many kids in his classes pulled when trying to use their phone during a time they shouldn't, though— for Shadow— it was a first to see someone trying to read an obvious erotica novel behind one. Shadow nodded to the librarian in greeting, who silently nodded back before returning to her debaucherous reading choice.
Turning away from the librarian's desk, Shadow headed deeper into the library. Normally, he would've asked the librarian where you went inside, but Shadow knew your favorite spot. Besides, he's pretty sure that miss librarian was too swathed in her book that she didn't know where you went. That's fine.
Shadow looked down the aisles as he walked through the library. For how quiet the library was, there were a lot more students here than he initially thought. He spotted a couple messing around, running between the aisles as one chases the other as silently they could without disrupting the whole library. Shadow rolled his eyes and sighed through his nose. He wouldn't admit it, but he was jealous.
As Shadow made one more turn he finally reached the back of the library, a popular spot for those who have a lot of studying to do or simply wish to sleep. That's where he found you; sitting at the center table with your face buried in your history textbook, your notebook to your right with pretty, color-coded, and curly handwriting. The table you sat at was your favorite spot; it got the best sunlight in the entire library. He often found you in sunlight. He liked the way the warm sun casted a halo around you, how it made you so sleepy but you were too stubborn to fall asleep in its warm embrace. Every time, though, you would always succumb to its sweet and warm embrace in the end.
Shadow shifted the strap of his bag on his shoulder, steeling himself. He didn't really want to distract you from your studies, but he promised himself that he would check in with you to see if you were alright. You looked bothered by the rumors, after all. Shadow put his free hand up to his mouth and coughed, trying to get your attention, but it didn't work. He coughed pretty loud too. That's when he noticed earbuds in your ears. You must be listening to your favorite low-fi music. He noticed that you liked the outdated stuff from the playlist you once showed him, songs from over 10-ish years ago. Shadow rubbed his fingers against his thumb in nervous hesitation before reaching forward and tapping you on the shoulder.
The reaction was immediate: a loud yelp that echoed off of the thick glass of the windows and a thump from you hitting your knee under the table, making your favorite thermos fall over, the liquid inside going all over the table. Thankfully, it was just water with ice.
“Ah, shit, shit, shit!” Shadow flinched back as you exclaimed as quietly as you could, scrambling to grab your jacket and soak up the water on the table before it could ruin any important papers. A 'Shhh!' comes from a nearby table, annoyed by the noise. You turn towards the shusher and respond with a heartfelt “Sorry!” before sighing and bending down to pick up the thermos that fell off the table.
Shadow felt really guilty. He didn't mean to scare you so badly. He scratched the back of his head, ruffling his quills. He looked back at you, the grip on his backpack strap tightening slightly. It's becoming a bad habit. “Do you mind if I... sit here?” He asked, tentatively.
“No— huh? I mean, yes! Yes, you can sit here. At the table. Here,” you cough, “Yes.” Crap, it was obvious he made you uncomfortable. He felt even more guilty now. He watched as you moved most of your items on the table, most of which were soaked along with your jacket. He noted that it was one of your comfier jackets. Damn it, he's just ruining your entire day at this point, isn't he? It was a bad idea to try and follow you.
Shadow pulled out the chair closest to him, dropping his bag on the floor beside him as he sat down. He dug through his backpack for his homework. By the time he pulled it out and looked back up at you, who had sat back down with a huff, a cloud had covered the sun, making you lose that ethereal glow. It made him a bit sad, but he can't control the weather. The two of you sat in silence as you continued studying your history textbook and Shadow started on his.
Shadow's mind started to swim with intruding thoughts. Every little motion of yours he was overthinking. Your scrunched face caused him worry, the tapping of your pencil gave him anxiety. He knew these were just your little quirks, which he found adorable, don't get him wrong, but the guilt was eating at him. He had to speak up. “Are you okay?”
You let out a startled 'huh?', looking up at him, surprise written on your face. “Oh, uh,” You look away, towards the window. Your gaze becomes distant. “Yeah, I'm okay.” It was another silent moment before you move your gaze back to your homework. Shadow wasn't convinced of your answer, his brows furrowing. That's when you look back up at Shadow, your expression beaming. “Thanks for asking, Shadow. I appreciate it.”
Shadow's heart skipped a beat. There's that smile he always liked. He smirked, giving a single chuckle through his nose. “I'm glad.” Shadow paused. He wanted to keep up a conversation with you. He wracked his brain as he watched you go back to your homework. He had to do it fast! What would he say, though? “Are you... going to the next track meet this weekend?”
Shadow caught you at a bad time. You were in the middle of taking a drink of whatever was left inside of your thermos, which probably was not a lot considering that it got dumped all over the table. Either way, he caught you off guard, yet again, causing you to accidentally inhale your water and choke on it. When will he stop ruining things? Shadow stood up, hovering over you. He didn't know what to do, the Heimlich maneuver that he just learned last week slipping out of his mind like sand. “I'm fine, I'm fine,” you said in between coughs. “You just caught me off guard, sorry!”
“It's okay,” Shadow replied, not really knowing how to reply to that. He sat back down in his seat. He looked at you, face full of worry. You looked at him and giggled a bit. Was something on his face? You shifted in your seat a bit.
“I'm gonna be busy on that day,” you finally said, fiddling with your mechanical pencil. Shadow's heart sunk. “Sadly, I got work!” You said with a sad smile. You had a job?
“I didn't know you had a job,” Shadow said, relaxing back in his chair. He was trying to look nonchalant, but he wasn't quite sure if it was working or if he just looked dumb.
“Uh, yeah. I work at the bowling alley. You know, the one down on main street.” Shadow knew that place. It wasn't exactly the safest spot, but the bowling alley was popular so it was safer than others. He was relieved that it wasn't any of the other bowling alleys in town.
“Maybe I'll visit,” Shadow said. Oops, he wasn't supposed to say that out loud. You looked at him, facial expression shocked. Did you hate the idea that much? He knew you didn't like him as much as he liked you, but your reaction did hurt him a little. Backpedaling, Shadow continued: “With the track team. Sonic's been saying he's been wanting to go. Bowling, I mean.”
“Oh,” you said, visibly deflating. Did you.. Not hate the idea? “Yeah, sure. It would make things at least a little lively there.” You gave a sad smile, eyebrows furrowed. You went back to your textbook as fast as the conversation ended.
It became awkward. You and Shadow worked on your homework in absolute silence, the only sounds were the rustling of paper and pencils writing. Shadow couldn't take it any longer. He set his pencil down, looking up to tell you the truth, that he wanted to visit so the two of you could hang out outside of school, but when he looked up he found you slumped over your textbook, asleep. The sun came out from the clouds in that moment, washing you in that warm, ethereal glow. He stared for what felt like forever but was only mere moments before he smiled, closing his textbook and putting it away along with his worksheets.
Shadow stood up and started gathering your things, putting them in your small messenger bag. He wasn't sure exactly how you liked things put away, so he hoped that what he was doing was good enough. He gingerly peeled you off of your textbook, replacing it with your jacket— which was has thankfully dried out already— and putting it in your bag before putting your back inside of his backpack so it's secure.
Shadow then moves you off of your jacket so he could put it inside of his backpack as well. He was glad that he had such a large backpack. Afterwards, he slung his bag over his shoulders and picked you up. You immediately clung to him in your sleep, getting comfortable in his arms. A small blush crept up on his face as he started to leave the library. This certainly wont quell the rumors anytime soon. That's when he heard you say his name as he walked out the library doors.
“Shadow,” you said, sleepily, almost slurring. Were you already awake? “I like you.”
Shadow froze in place. His face was entirely flushed. You liked him? Then he heard you lightly snore, continuing with something nonsensical. Oh. You were sleep talking. Shadow's heart sunk, his blush fading quickly. But... What if what you were saying in your sleep were your true feelings? If they were...
