Love is Vacant.
Do you watch my eyes flit away?
When our gaze lasts far too long
Do you feel my skin crawl
At the suddenness of your touch
My legs restless
So little is too much.
Is your heart beating fast
For a life that won’t last
For an emotionless kiss
Temporary bliss
with a heart as damaged as mine.
I long for your presence
Until it is here
Then I detest
To have you near
My body wants to feel
My mind knows there’s more
But I can’t let you go..
Oh God no.
That would mean
That I’d be all alone.

June 28, 1919: The Treaty of Versailles is Signed
On this day in 1919, Germany and Allied forces signed the Treaty of Versailles. The peace treaty is one of many that aided in ending World War I. The treaty, which was written mostly by the Allies, outlined harsh reparations payments for Germany. The Germans felt that the treaty was unfair and was an attempt to destroy the country. The continued resentment to the Treaty of Versailles eventually led to extreme German nationalism and provoked the start of World War II.
