Hello everyone, this is my first time actually writing something on here instead of just reposting. I just wanted to comment on the Gunil “situation”.

If you haven’t heard yet, he basically got kicked out of his group (Xdinary Heroes) for calling his sasaengs “these b*tches”. They have broken into the groups dorm multiple times and also put a gps on his personal vehicle. All of this got exposed by his ex girlfriend (who he dated for like 2 weeks) yesterday and earlier today JYPe released the official termination notice.

I don’t think I have to tell you how stupid and rushed this situation is. Half of the fandom didn’t even know about the controversy and only found out through the notice.

Now coming back to my original reason for writing this. I think we (especially fans of JYP groups) should be concerned. The literally kicked him out for showing normal human emotions. Like I would say the same things (or even worse stuff) about my stalkers. The true criminals get away without any consequences but his whole career is ruined. This shows once again that kpop companies don’t care about their idols as human beings. Sasaengs spend so much money on their idols that companies don’t even want to do anything against them.

With that being said, I hope everyone reading this will join us villains in being angry and loud about this situation. I doubt that JYPe will bring him back but we can still try an hope for the best.

I will try to link two petitions in the comments that you can sign if you want. Sending emails and filling out reports on JYPs website could also help. Other than that it would just really help if you could spread the word and continue to be loud. If anyone lives in korea and wants to send a protest truck, I’m sure there are a lot of villains on twitter who would donate money for that!

gunil being forced out is just....shocking. there was so little time between that person's leaked recording (OF A PRIVATE CONVERSATION? WHO THE FUCK?? DOES THAT????) and the company's announcement. they just severed him. now i assume they think they're on damage control.

it's such a brutal way of dealing with conflict. the kpop industry has once again proven that the loudest, most annoying and twisted fans have their hands on the company's throats by controlling the perception of public opinion.

if gunil was actually fed up enough to want to leave, fine. but there has GOT to be a more humane way of handling problems than cutting people out immediately. this is toxic industry culture that seems to be getting worse instead of better. the company is so deathly afraid of image problems.

their artists have a right to be upset when upsetting things happen, many of which ARE caused by fans! but if artists speak up, the hammer comes down on them for voicing dissatisfaction, never on fans for being terrible. because the REAL problem is that fans are not punishable, and they are the ones paying the money, so ultimately JYP works for them. the power structure is an inverted pyramid.

i’m absolutely infuriated about gunil. i can’t believe jype wouldn’t make a statement trying to explain what happened; they just kick him out???? and it’s INSANE to me that fans care SO much about him complaining about saesangs and everything. what idol ISNT complaining about their fans????

and what is a BAND going to do without a drummer and their LEADER????? i desperately hope the rest of the boys leave jype and they all regroup to form their own indie band. they don’t deserve any of this and im in absolute SHOCK that it even came to this point.

genuinely going through the five stages of grief right now i’m so fucking mad. i will get more writing out soon but this just doesn’t feel real.

if we're not even looking at this from an emotional standpoint. what the fuck are they supposed to do moving forward? perpetually having temporary drummers would be ridiculous with their schedules. trying to bring in a new permanent member would cause an even bigger division in the fandom and i doubt the other guys would be very keen on it. gunil was literally holding the band together. call me a doomer for being realistic but i can't see this as anything but a death sentence for the band

Had this conversation in the gc this morning, and it is truly shocking how badly jyp screwed this up.

If your employee is being harassed, and is so stressed out that they need to talk to someone, and feel their only option is a virtual stranger, it's on you to fix, not punish.

"I was relentlessly bullied, stalked, and harassed, and had an emotional reaction and now my career is over" isn't something that should happen.

What an awful thing that happened to this man. The girl who posted these should be sued, and honestly, I hope Gunil fights back (he won't, I know, but this is such bullshit and I'm so mad).

I hope he's able to continue making music, if that's what he wants; mostly, I hope he's safe and that he gets some help for his anxiety -- which JYP should've provided, instead of kicking him out.

The kpop industry needs to start doing something more about toxic fans and stalkers, before another person loses more than their career.

The precedent JYP has set with this heinous decision is gross and dangerous.

we know jype doesn’t protect their artists from sasaengs and puts so much pressure and responsibility on their group leaders that they have no one to confide in. skz has alluded to the first one (and we’ve seen it), and bang chan has publicly basically said as much about the second.

jype has now removed a leader who was venting to someone he thought he could trust in PRIVATE. no second chances, no hiatus, no apology begging for forgiveness. he was completely removed. the person he vented to recorded him sharing his frustrations after months of sasaengs violating the group’s privacy, including breaking into their dorm, which led to increased tensions within the group. instead of that person supporting him through a difficult time, they recorded him to “expose” him.

to find out the person you’re dating is no better than/is basically one of the sasaengs you were venting about and afraid of must be heartbreaking. i can’t imagine how it must feel to lean on someone for support, only for that person to do to you the exact thing you’d needed their support about to begin with, and to do it on a very public scale. i can’t imagine how lonely and isolating that must feel.

the fact that gunil’s private words of rightful fear and frustration and anger led to his immediate removal with no second chance, but junhan only received a slap on the wrist for his public use of jype messaging platforms (bubble) to share eugenicist ideology, is ridiculous.

your favorite idols are 100% talking shit about fans in private. they aren’t always specifying sasaengs. they don’t always mean the sasaengs. they are people who constantly have to change their number because it gets leaked, people who have to move because people show up to their houses, people who are constantly receiving death threats and vitriol, even from their non-sasaeng fans. it is common fucking sense that any human being in that situation would talk shit.

my heart breaks for gunil. i hope he has a therapist and a strong support network. i also hope he’s able to build his own career from this and show jype what they’re missing, but that’s for later. first and most importantly, i hope he’s able to get some help so he can process the repeated large scale betrayals he’s experienced. i hope he’s doing as okay as one could be given the circumstances.

gunil is a victim in all this to me, and it is devastating that he’s being punished for it.
