â do you think this is the end for us as a group ? â the questionâs plaintive, and hangs in the air between them both of them. sohyunâs eyes are averted, not wanting to display any sadness or desperation, but itâs apparent in the way she fumbles slightly, unable to open the can of beer.
worry surfaces in the space between them, falters the smile usually so well-adapted to his expression. his eyes glance from sohyun to the beer back to her face but heâs quick to glance away, to look elsewhere: to the television that plays movies he falls asleep, too. it brings him back to those memories, brings him back to the empty cans of beer on the coffee table, on the floor. he looks back at sohyun and breathes out his nose.Â
âi didnât know that... iâll keep that mind for next time.â he supposes there might be more other times because every day is never less troubling than the previous. element isnât in a great position, element isnât doing great. period. it worries him. worries sohyun too. he sees it.Â
the question is loaded, hits him hard like a freight train. colour drains from his face and he canât control the stunned expression growing, canât control the ominous sensation building the cracks of dry-walls.Â
âi donât...â the problem is, haneul doesnât have an answer. he canât read the minds of gold star, canât envision what theyâre ideas are ---- if they had any ideas. element seems like a well dried up. no water. they toss and toss buckets hoping for something but nothing. eventually, they give up throwing coins in too. it must be a waste to shell out money and get barely in return. but he shouldnât say this. âdo you need help?â he offers, changing topic for a second to collect an answer, any answer.Â
âiâm sure they have plans for us.â so vague, so in-between, but he isnât lying at least.Â
