Takako normally would have flushed and tried to run away after a remark like the one she had just made toward the gym leader (her professor if we’re basing this of of the AU), but with all of the embarrassing exchanges that had happened in the past few months, she was going to make him laugh this time. Pulling out a pair of sunglasses, she placed them on her face and in a very serious manner replied:

Morty's lips twitched as though he were trying not to laugh, before he gave in and doubled over in laughter. It took him a good minute, hands on his knees, before he managed to stand up straight - or, at least, straighter - and respond. Of all things he'd expected to hear from Takako, that was not on his list.

"T-Taka...where did you even-" He paused to inhale, clearing his throat before attempting to speak again. "Apart from that...statement..." he giggled a little, "where did you even get those shades from?"

To be honest, he probably should've been asking why she'd called him that in the first place, but he was still trying to regain his composure as it was.

Another day, another visit with Morty. Nothing had seemed too out of the ordinary; there had been the usual hanging around and the usual snuggling, nothing too unusual. That was, until Falkner felt… something.

Face reddening quickly, he turned almost immediately to glare at Morty with wide eyes. He.. he hadn’t, had he? Never would he have thought that his friend would do something so bold. Maybe it was a mistake? Although, he had done some bold things in the past… Regardless, Falkner had gotten very flustered very quickly and, though a part of him wanted to, he wasn’t going to just act as if it hadn’t happened.

“What did you just do…”

Looking over at Falkner with what he hoped would come across as an innocent expression, Morty blinked owlishly. Maybe looking like a Noctowl would get him bonus points of some sort with whatever deity was supposed to be watching over him.

"I…adjusted..?" Well, it wasn’t a complete lie…but whether or not Falkner would push it was another matter entirely.

It wasn’t his fault that cuddling with the other Gym Leader was so comfortable, and his hand was already so close in the first place, so he hadn’t expected Falkner to notice. Okay, that was a lie; he knew Falkner would notice, but he hadn’t expected him to say anything. Sure, the majority of Morty’s efforts to get Falkner to notice his interest were falling flatter than a Stunfisk, but he wasn’t ready to just give up as of yet.

It was unexpected, really, to have been approached by anyone at this hour. Being a Gym Leader, he did his best to be available during the day, when most challengers (if any) were going to enter Ecruteak Gym. After hours, when the sun began to set, Morty took the opportunity to travel and let his Pokémon stretch. Then again, today he had started a little early.

Turning towards the voice, he quickly re-adjusted his line of sight. Was this a child, or a young adult? He squinted slightly, wondering if he could get some glasses without anyone noticing, and pushed his headband up. Looking a bit taken aback by the question, he took a moment to gather himself. This kid's sweater was very bright.

"Well, I wouldn't exactly say I'm the powerful one," he began with a smirk, although he tried to cover it with a friendly smile. If the kid didn't know, there was no reason to advertise his ability. "It's more so the teamwork between myself and my Pokémon. The stronger the bond, the further they'll help you get."

He gestured to his Sableye, which had scaled his form as he spoke and now rested on his head. "I'm actually out for a stroll with my personal team right now, if you'd like to join us?"
