Btw I really love that the protagonist is known around as "the hermit". Not only do I find it a great canon name that the fandom should use more bc it's more in line w the other names + rolls off the tongue better but also I think it's very compelling in its implications because the group that uses that name is the one over at the burnt house, refugees, and they use it like it's a well known spot. This isn't too strange after all up to 3 ppl visit you nightly so you're popular around but the title gives you an almost mystical quality like you're a figure beyond your identity you're The Hermit. There's something to be said about the lack of names but I won't here.

Issue I have however is, isn't it kinda weird or redundant? Like there's a weird skinny tall guy walking around outside and a crazy mf with a gun and there's hungry dogs like. I get many people are escaping but the title of the hermit feels silly bc it's not like there's life outside these walls. Everyone else is hiding with you.

This does make me think of the possibility of the hermit not being a new nickname but an old pre apocalypse one which would make perfect sense since, y'know, the hermit does very explicitly talk about disliking people and interaction and preferring to be alone. And has been for quite a few years now. (I feel insane about the implications about him but again, not here). I kinda love the idea of this little almost inside joke about yeah this guy never leaves the house what a weirdo eh? between neighbors becoming like an identity that transcends its original context and creates this figure of safety of home for those homeless almost historical like a landmark. Its just awesome.
