In case anyone is curious, it says “Rise chiizu shite ❤️” which means “Say cheese, Rise ❤️” lol. Worth noting that she’s called Rise-chii and not Risette in Japanese so it’s probably a pun (which I assume is why it’s written in hiragana and not katakana?) but don’t quote me on that part, I’m not confident.

So, I'm replaying Persona Q and just beat the second labyrinth but I got Teddie for my destined partner for the first time and I just-

That's so cute???? Like, one, great to know to that Yosuke's parents are happily married but also just, wow, Teddie really is part of the family. It's adorable to see how much he loves them.

Fun fact! In the Japanese version, he calls them Papa-san and Mama-san :)

For reference, Papa and Mama are generally used by young kids in the way Daddy and Mommy are.

“Kuma ne, kekkon wa jamete dakedo, Yosuke no Papa-san to Mama-san miteru to tottemo sutekina mono datte wakarun da”

The official translation is solid but just for clarity, a slightly more literal translation is along the lines of “As for Kuma, this is Kuma’s first time getting married, but when Kuma sees Yosuke’s Papa-san and Mama-san Kuma understands it’s a very beautiful thing.” His first person pronoun is a little clunky when translated directly lol you’ll have to bear with me on this one.

Interestingly, kekkon (marriage) is written in katakana instead of kanji, though this 100% checks for how Teddie is usually written.

For a second fun fact, Teddie is easily my favorite P4 character to translate for.

Sometimes I get doujinshi because I like the art or because I think it’ll appeal to my friends’ interests or for some fandom variety in my collection or whatever else, but sometimes I get it because it’s really, really funny. And my recent obsession has been with this like almost 300 page TOME from the 90s of sefikura. The art looks like THIS

Since it’s just the one, I’ll break it down!

Yosuke no (Yosuke’s) atusi (literally hot; means passionate) seien (cheering; vocal support) ni (source particle for passive verbs) sasaerare (to support; passive form) nagara (whilst) jounetsu teki ni (passion+word to make nouns adjectives+particle to make adjectives adverbs) utaiageta (to belt/sing with vigor; past tense)

I wasn’t expecting to post twice today, but my best friend and beta reader made a discovery!

My account is dedicated to the preservation and sharing of media that people otherwise may never get to experience, and that includes the translation work of others. There is a manga version of the Danganronpa demo simply titled Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei, which was given out as a preorder bonus. It was left untranslated for a long time.

As a translator, I refuse to step on someone else’s work, but we had trouble finding it so I’d like to inform anyone who didn’t already know that DeviantArt user Dianthacea translated it in 2023, and if possible I want to get some more eyes on it.

AMAZING news! I got cleared to start taking my brace off, so I’m finally back with another post!

This one is Kimi no Tamenara Suneru (I Would Die For You), a short Final Fantasy VII doujinshi originally published 3/19/2006 by Ryo Akizuki. It’s shippy towards zakkura, but it’s light enough on that you could read it platonically if you’d like.

Augh sorry I’ve been so quiet on here! I’ve barely been able to do anything with the broken wrist, but thankfully I have my next appointment in two days!

“Hey, are you heading home already today? Days without club activities actually leave you with too much time on your hands, don't they? I'm just wandering around like usual, though.

Say, do you know Aragaki-kun, the guy who got caught up in that violent incident the other day? I've been at Gekkoukan since elementary school, so I remember the day he transferred to the school. He and Sanada-kun, who also transferred around the same time, were really close even back then. Unlike now, Sanada-kun was quiet, or rather, he seemed a bit timid, and Aragaki-kun was always dragging him around. To a kid, it looked like a boss and his henchman, but Aragaki-kun probably thought back then in his childish heart "I'm doing this to protect that guy!".

...You know, I think about this a lot. When you lose someone important to you, the people left behind can never let go of the memories of when that person was alive and well, right? I won't tell them to let go, of course, and I think some people can use the lose as a springboard to become stronger, but if it can be avoided, you'd obviously want to avoid it. That's why, not just for the person's own sake but for the people around them too, saving a person's life is a truly meaningful thing.”

Finally found the segment in the official book, so I decided to fully translate it too. I think all of this is really cool to be honest. Even Keisuke’s point of view is actually pretty insightful

Life update! I got in for an orthopedic appointment (finally) and my wrist IS broken! Which I suppose it’s good to know it’s that and not a sprain but I have to keep it in a brace for at least four more weeks, so translations will continue to be extra slow (very hard to work on with one hand) :( sorry guys.
