Send me a ship...
and I’ll post a song that reminds me of that pairing.

Pixi had to hold back another round of giggles at the little wiggle Fox gave before his absolutely majestic pounce. This was supposed to be at least somewhat serious business, but it didn’t look like that was going to happen anytime soon. She had to give him props, though—that leap was ( to her knowledge ) flawless. It looked like he’d jumped off a spring-loaded platform, like a diving board or something.
As much as she wanted to jump in immediately, they had made a plan, and she was going to stick to it. Pixi kept her eyes peeled for any good openings. Fire Fox was doing a great job of distracting the akuma, but she didn’t want to accidentally knock him out of the way, or worse, inadvertently tie him to the hulking beast in her attempt to slow the thing.
The faerie chewed the inside of her cheek as she watched Fox practically dance around the akuma’s body. Just conjuring vines to restrain the akuma’s limbs would be tricky—it would have to be pretty fast if she was going to catch the akuma by surprise, so she couldn’t just have the vines wait until a good opportunity. And there weren’t any good places she could hide them, being in the middle of the square like this.
However…maybe all she needed was a few seconds. A grin appeared on Pixi’s face. If she focused her energy, she could feel the potential thrumming under the ground. Perfect. Making sure to stay as low as she could, Pixi slipped down the side of the building until she was hidden in the shadows of the alleyway. Gloved hands were placed atop the tiled pavement.
She still had to wait for the right moment, but as soon as she was sure Fire Fox was out of range, she felt magic flow through her arms and down through the concrete. Large green vines burst from the ground near the akuma’s feet, holding it steady for ( she hoped ) at least a solid ten seconds. The thing bellowed with rage as it realized what had happened, and tried to move forward despite the restraints.
As it raised its arms, more vines shot out from the ground, wrapping themselves around gem-covered forearms. The ruby should be properly exposed now, but they only had a short window; even from this distance, Pixi could feel that the plants were beginning to strain and snap under the tension.
“Fox! Now!”
Fire Fox barely had time to register the rumbling feeling beneath his feet before the pavement cracked apart in front of him. His eyes widened as thick vines sprang up from beneath and wrapped themselves around the akuma-who seemed just as surprised as he was. That was some power right there—
“Incredible…” He whispered under his breath, awestruck as he watched the akuma struggle in vain. In his mind Sykke echoed his amazement, and he was more than content to continue observing such an awesome display of plant-based power before her shout shook him into action.
“—Right!”
He shoots forward, sprinting towards the enraged akuma’s side. The ruby was in sight-though as soon as he tried to get it out it was clear that his original plan of grab-and-dash wasn’t quite going to cut it. The gem was set firmly in his holder, and try as he might he wasn’t making hardly any progress at all when it came to prying it loose. He could hear the creature still growling in frustration, as well as the what sounded distressingly similar to vines starting to break.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he groaned, putting both hands into it, a foot bracing against the akuma’s vine covered leg as he pulled. Pixi was doing wonderful with restraining it, but Fox knew it couldn’t last much longer, and that if the akuma got away there was no telling if they’d be able to catch him the same way again. “Come on, just a little more! Come o—“
There was an almost comical pop as the stone came loose from its socket, the sudden release sending Fox tumbling backwards quite away tail over ears. He rolled away from the akuma, the jewel flying out of his hands with the force of the impact to skitter across the street around him. That was great. What was also fantastic was that the akuma was absolutely infuriated by the loss of his jewel and was now looking at him with murder in its eyes. Yeah, this was turning out well.
“PiiIIXI—!“ His voice cracked a little as he called out, eyes widening as the akuma broke free and came barreling towards him, seemingly freed from its lumbering movements now that its keepsake was in danger. He scrambled backwards, legs pushing against the pavement as he lifted an arm, the shield on his wrist beginning to expand to try and protect himself against a seemingly inevitable attack.

“You got skill,” Plagg approves, nodding thoughtfully. “I’m no art connoisseur–” ( unless cheese consumption tasting is considered an artform ), “–but I’m impressed.”
Shy, huh? –He wouldn’t be the first candidate to be so, therefore, wasn’t immediately disqualified. Ideally, it would be merely shyness, and not cowardice. A strong, brave heart was absolutely key to a good hero.
Then again, Plagg was getting ahead of himself. Barely communicating with two sentences isn’t enough to properly assess the young artist’s personality. Luckily he didn’t seem too opposed to a continued chat, ( ha! he can make puns too ) so the kwami plopped himself down next to his new friend, peering curiously at the, admittedly, rather lovely drawing he’d been working on.
“Superheroes, huh? Sounds like a pretty cool show,” he says, emulating what he believes is Normal Teenage Talk™, “Don’t think I could do the things they do, ( in spite of my otherwise amazing talents ) like that Ladybug girl, but I’m a,” he fumbles for appropriate, nonchalant wording, “er, superfan of ‘em.”
Nailed it.
★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★
Oh, hello there—
He was sitting next to him now. And still looking at his drawing. This was a thing that was happening now, but Nathanaël had to admit that he didn’t quite know why. What had happened to cause this guy to approach him in the first place, let alone decide to take a seat beside him to continue the conversation? It was kind of weird.
Still, he offered a small smile of thanks at the compliment, shoulders visibly relaxing. And with the mention of a certain local superheroine, he perked up even more. Boy oh boy, if there was one way to get Nathanaël to open it up it was to mention a similar interest, and when it came to the heroes in his own backyard he was kind of obsessed.
“Really? You’re a fan as well?” His earlier hesitation in letting him see his art all but vanished as he shifted the sketchbook in his hands, going to flip backwards a few pages until he found a drawing suitable to show (read: make a good impression on a fellow fan). Ladybug was the prominent picture on the page he stopped on, though there were also a couple of other heroes sketched out taking various poses as well, all with the same amount of loving detail put into them.
“I really like Ladybug too…Honestly, they all are pretty great.” He smiled, eyes scanning over the page. “Is Ladybug your favorite then? I know for a lot of people she is.”
(Happy Munday! Please enjoy a picture of one of my snakes being her own scarf.)
Just a prediction. Bonus:
I join the chaos
when you cry a little because there are 8 more miraculous and you just KNOW that means 8/9 classmates are gonna help out in the final battle and Nathaniel won’t be invited to the party
So I have a couple of drabble ideas sitting in my inbox from this really old prompt request. I thought I could use some of them to help get me back into the swing of writing. Though this one was originally supposed to be Nino and Nath competing for Marinette’s heart and instead turned into boyfriends having a mild debate over what they should get a really dear friend for her birthday, so...Whoops?
Word Count: 580
“Dude, I’m telling you. We have such a similar taste in music. Letting me pick up a CD or two for her is totally the way to go.”
For what had to be the third time that hour, Nathanaël couldn’t help but roll his eyes a little at his boyfriend’s insistence on yet another music-related gift for one of their friends. Nino was an incredibly talented DJ of course and he really did have a knack for picking out things that would suit an individual’s tastes. But this present was supposed to be from both of them. He really wanted to be able to contribute more than just money to the idea.
honestly , don’t ship with me unless you’re willing to accept that i will be in your IM’s or ask ( or other forms of contact ) yelling and screaming in capitals. or that i will be sending every meme i see , or answering every starter and liking every starter call. or that i will reblog things that remind me of our ship or thread or verse and tag you in it. or that i will send you links to things that remind me of our babies. i am always super excited about my ships and i’m not afraid to show it.

⋙ CLAWS OUT ⋘
When it comes to understanding human etiquette and culture, Plagg will be the first to claim he’s almost entirely lost ( and this is readily admitted by a kwami who thinks more than the world of himself ). With various cultures having assorted, unspoken rules like ‘ don’t lean over people and look at their things, ‘ or ‘ keep your nose to yourself, ‘ Plagg would likely forever remain oblivious and rude.
Peering over the shoulder of a young man parked on a bench, likely no older than sixteen, he decides to offer his unwarranted and unrequited opinion on the nearly completed drawing resting in the teen’s lap. After all, how better to meet potential heroes than to just shove your head directly into their business?
“Looks nice, kid – but too, ah, what’s the word? ‘Anime’-y?” he murmurs thoughtfully, fingering the brim of his ear cage hat.
( The last hand to bear his ring had a remarkable adoration and knowledge for the topic of Japanese animation – unfortunately, that was the part of him that Plagg had managed to retain. )
★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★・・・・・・★
It was safe to say that even without the stranger’s catlike grace and silent way of walking Nathanaël would have remained unawares of his presence even with the shadow that fell over his sketchbook. He was hard at work sketching out the drawing that would momentarily be critiqued, eyes occasionally darting up to take in the scenery before him as reference. After all, what better way to practice drawing accurate backgrounds for a scene than to go to the actual setting itself?
Regardless, it was incredibly fortunate that Plagg had chosen the moment that he lifted his pencil from the page to speak up. With the way Nathanaël had leapt at his voice, there was no doubt that had the pencil still been in place it would have made a nice mark across the whole page.
“—Pardon?” The question was quiet, almost shaky as he attempted to calm the beating of his heart. Suave artist he was not, though considering that an ambush while he was drawing was the favorite tactic of certain people could he really be blamed for nearly jumping out of his skin?
He shifted his positon on the bench, turning to peer up at the young man who approached him. Kid…? This guy looked to be his age, or if not he couldn’t be more than a couple years older than himself. Certainly not enough to warrant the designation of “kid” to Nathanaël’s person. But that was besides the point.
His brows knitted together as he looked back down at the picture in question, a slight flush of pink gracing his cheeks with the “critique”, if it could even be called that. It was an apt one, he supposed, considering what he was drawing was based on this super hero anime he had recently watched. Being the sucker that he was for things hero related, he of course had to try and draw his own hero in the style of the show. Oh gosh, he hoped the stranger wouldn’t ask him who he was drawing—
“It’s…based off an anime, so that makes sense?” He ducked his head a little, wondering if it was too late to try and cover his picture from prying eyes. He really did hate when people looked at the unfinished product. It made him feel like he had to defend what he was drawing.
“It’s a show about people with powers and superheroes, so it’s going to look a little over the top and…y-yeah. It’s the style...”

Pixi watched Fox’s movements out of the corner of her eye, deciding it was probably a better idea to keep most of her attention on their foe. She couldn’t really tell what he was up to—was he trying to use his shield as a sort of spy glass? It didn’t look like it would be nearly reflective enough—but whatever it was, he quit it after a moment or two.
Nevertheless, she listened attentively as he described their objective; destroying or at the very least separating the jewel monster from his ruby lined up with what he’d mentioned about these akuma things earlier. She still wasn’t sure she understood everything about the things, but for now, the basics would be just fine.
At his proposal, Pixi bit the inside of her lip. She wasn’t super fond of plans where other people had to be bait, but Fire Fox had a point—he and the akuma had gone to blows before, so hopefully experience would prove to be a good teacher, and he wouldn’t get thrown across Paris again. Besides, worst came to worst, she could always catch him again; Pixi liked to think that she could fly fast enough to reach him ( or at least provide a softer landing in the form of a large sunflower or the like ) in order to cushion his fall in case he became a flying fox again.
“…Okay. I’ll hang back and look for a good place to jump in—element of surprise and all that. If I can, I’ll try to restrain him or something; judging by, ah…previous experiences, he probably won’t be staying down for long, but all we need is a good second or two. If he’s immobile, that’ll make snatching the ruby all the easier, right?”
That was the ideal plan, but Pixi was well known for her talent in improvising back home. Sometimes it was good to have to think on your feet—they wouldn’t always get the chance to hide out and discuss what to do. She grinned at Fox.
“Whenever you’re ready. I’ll be waiting to pounce.” Pixi tried to look somewhat threatening ( or at least serious ) at that, but she couldn’t help the small giggles bubbling up behind her lips.
His smile only grew at her barely contained giggles. How cute. She seemed to radiate sunshine and good feelings, and he couldn’t help but wonder if that was part of her magic or just her own natural charm.
“Pounce? What an excellent idea. I think I’ll try that out myself.” His attention turned back to the akuma below, which had by now moved further down the street—though really it hadn’t made it too far considering the heavy, lumbering steps it took to move. They really were lucky this guy was pretty slow, huh?
Dropping his expression into something more serious, he slowly gathered his legs underneath him, eyes locking in on his target. Attention focused? Check. Distance judged? Check. Bonus of facing north accounted for and applied to calculations of success rate? Check and check. Really, with how things were set up now there was no way he could miss. What kind of fox would he be if he flubbed such an easy leap?
He gave another adjusting wiggle of his haunches before launching himself off the roof. And when he said he was going to pounce he pounced.
Practically straight up in the air he went, almost absurdly high compared to the distance he needed to cross, body arching as if he were making a dive into the water. Yep, what Pixi had witnessed was a bonafide fox pounce, courtesy of his kwami Sykke. Though thankfully, instead of going nose first into the descent as an actual fox would he had enough sense to throw out his arms, catching the akuma around the neck as the force of his leap swung the hero’s body around until he was perched on the villain’s shoulder.
“Hello again! I was wondering-since our dance earlier got cut short, I was wondering if you’d like to exchange a few more moves?” He quipped cheerfully, a wide grin on his face despite the potentially precarious situation he was in.
The akuma was really just as surprised as anyone else who might be watching to find a fox on his shoulder, and it took a moment before he responded. He let out a loud bellow of anger, a heavy hand rising to try and grab the colorful annoyance off of his person, but by then Fox had already dismounted and darted over to the side where the ruby was on. He wasn’t about to make the same mistake twice—flying through the city was utterly terrifying when one didn’t have a plan to land.
“I’ll take that as a yes then? Or is it actually a no? Kind of hard to tell when you don’t use your words.” Another swipe had him ducking quickly towards the ground, the rocky arm just barely brushing over the tips of his ears. “—Nope, still don’t know what you’re trying to say. Mind running that by me again?”
And so it went. Indeed, it kind of did look like a dance, with Fox weaving out of the akuma’s grasp, sometimes going under the grasping hand or actually climbing on the creature to leap over it. He was annoying him for sure but, as Fox couldn’t help but notice, he still wasn’t willing to commit into moving his other arm from his side. Any attacks that were made were using the free arm, even if it meant the akuma had to turn around awkwardly to face the nimble hero to do so.
Yeah, okay. Maybe he needed to try something else? Or maybe Pixi was cooking up some plant magic goodness on the sidelines?

🥀- A SHIP YOU WOULD NEVER DO
Mmm…barring some ships that deal with obvious #squickytopics, I don’t believe there’s currently a ship out there within the kids atleast that I can say I would never do.I do like trying out all kinds of ships, and a lot of the time if a roleplayerof a certain character is writing in a way that’s clicking with how I portrayNathanaël I’m all for it.
That being said, I do have to admit that Chloé/Nath wouldprobably be one of the more difficult ships for me to write if I were justdoing a drabble myself about it. As it stands on this, the 18th dayof January 2018, I cannot find enough substance in just the canon depiction ofChloé to be confident in my ability to write it as a ship. That doesn’t mean Iwon’t ship with Chloé roleplayers because goodness knows there are some fantastic writers I’ve seen of her, or that I don’t enjoy drabbles or art of the ship, just that with how she is in the show right now ChloNath is not one of my favorites.
💌- WOULD YOUR MUSE WRITE A LOVE LETTER
Answered here!
🎁- IS YOUR MUSE PICKY ABOUT GIFTS
Nathanaël is not picky about gifts given to him, but boy-howdy let me tell you he ispicky as anything when it comes to gifts given to his friends. Especially if those friends also happento be-gasp-one of his crushes. He is genuinely afraid about not being able topick a good gift for people. Doesn’t matter if he’s known them for one month orten years, gift giving is a cause for anxiety if someone doesn’t explicitly saywhat they like or may want. Even if he just ends up drawing something for the receiver, that brings with it a whole new need for what he draws to be “perfect”.
But when it comes to receiving gifts, he’s pretty much happyas long as there’s some thought behind the gift, even if it’s not something heparticularly likes. As long the gift isn’t given with malicious intent he’llaccept it and thank the giver for thinking of him.

💕- HOW AFFECTIONATE IS YOUR MUSE
Nathanaël is incrediblyaffectionate. He is warmhearted and all but wears his heart on his sleeve whenit comes to those he holds close in romantic or platonic regards. Physicalaffection does tend to still fluster him regardless, but depending on how closehe is with someone he won’t be above initiating small bouts of it himself. He’sall about brushing shoulders, knocking knees, touching fingers with some slightinterlacing, and even leaning his head against the other person, just to name afew.
💘- WHAT IS YOUR MUSE LIKE IN SHIPS
It’ll vary from ship to ship of course, but in general whenhe falls, truly falls, for someone hefalls hard. He pretty much crash lands into a sea of fluffy feelings andadoration. He puppy-dogs hard, becoming super observant when it comes to hiscrush and things about them, even if a lot of his admiration is done from afar. He genuinely likes to see the people he’s fond of be happy, even if theirhappiness doesn’t involve him, and if he can help them out he’d be hard pressednot to.
That doesn’t mean he’ll find talking to them to be easy, especially if they don’t have an established friendship first. Interactionswith his crush (and sometimes even his partners in the beginning of theirromantic relationships) really do help him live up to his nickname of “tomatochild”.
💌- WOULD YOUR MUSE WRITE A LOVE LETTER
He would, though I can’t guarantee that the letter won’thave drawings in the margins of it-or that it won’t come as some sort of comicor drawing instead. He’s not as comfortable with his words as he is with hisdrawings. He feels he doesn’t have the necessary finesse to write romanticprose all by itself, though he does find it easier to convey his feelingsthrough writing them than just saying them out loud. There’s less stuttering intext (most of the time).
Regardless, he thinks they’re nice and if he doesn’t write aletter he’d definitely do something else to help convey his mushy thoughts.
