SOI 46, Defence Colony

The small cafe with the backside entrance in the main Defence Colony market is a little tough to locate if you are not looking for it. The interiors resemble a living room but is still pretty neat. One of my friends calls it the place with the Cyber Cafe Stairs (I did not frankly understand it .... but wrote it down anyways).

The food there consisted mainly of Thai and Burmese with some common snacks available. The hookah was a special Arabian Nights Flavour, and it was amazing. Nice Smoke and a perfect blend of several flavours - it was a delight. Apart from the Sheesha we ordered Beer which was very economically priced considering the restaurant being in Defence Colony.

For the food we ordered, Veg and Chicken Pan fried noodles. The food was very appealing and equally delicious. There was another dish - Chilly Chicken which was also appeared very tasty by the looks of my friends snatching at it. The quantity was pretty good for 2 people (1 dish), and we got all that in under Rs. 1000.

Cafe WTF, Defence Colony

This weekend i visited Cafe WTF, Defence Colony with a couple of friends. The place was quite different whether it be the menu or the ambience. The posters on the wall were weirdly funny, and had some awesome quotes and some really different combination of foods. Its a great place to hang out, specially with friends.

We chose a BrainFreezer hookah and they got the hookah totally wrong. No Smoke, No Flavour and the guy came to tell me that the flavour had finished in like 15 mins. Seriously? Then he did finally fix the smoke, but still no flavour!

The next thing on our table was Veg. Caesar Salad, it was ok types (pretty much like all veg Caesars). We also tried a simple margarita Pizza. The pizza was good (very thin crust), could have been better had they added some more cheese.

Then after a cuisine wise disappointing afternoon we gathered some courage to give the chef another try with something different (our last order). We ordered Veg. Arrabitta in Penne. But when the pasta came, it made me forget all about the previous so-so dishes we had. The empty plate does justice to the delicacy.

And, I finally got all the three balls together in the centre. Yaay!

Bell Peppers, Ashok Vihar

On the recommendation of my friend, my college group visited this pure vegetarian restaurant in Ashok Vihar. I cant remember when I last went to a place that didnot serve hookah or alcohol. But still the food was very tasty.

We ordered Dal Makhani, Paneer Lababdar, Paneer Wajid Ali and breads. Everything was tasty, And the Dal was one of the best I have had in a long time.

The speciality was the Kandhari Naan, which was stuffed with pomegranate seeds, nuts, garlic and onion. 

The interior too was pretty neat and clean, smooth hindi music felt a good change from the normal Pitbull tracks. An ideal place for the family with a decently priced menu makes it a must visit.

Lajpat Nagar ke Rajma Chawal

The small stall in the Lajpat Nagar market, famous for its Rajma Chawal, Kadi Chawal and Choley Chawal is a surely a must eat if you visit the famous market. The Rajma Chawal were a delight with the spices and the onions and chutney extra making it lip-smackingly tasty.

The food was well complemented with the fresh fruit Juice from the neighboring shop. The best thing about the juice was that the juice was with the pulp, making it more healthy and tastier.

Hubble Bubble, Rohini

The shady hookah cafe on the top floor of a nicely built Rohini mall is definitely a must go for this one attraction which you cannot find anywhere else in Delhi (at least not in the many places i have tried). The solution through which when you blow the smoke of a hookah gives the amazing silver smoke bubble, which looks even more beautiful in the blue ambience of the place.

The food on the menu is definitely a concern with very few options available - Maggi, Sandwiches, Smileys, Potato Wedges and a few Non Veg items. The Service was pretty good and we were pleased with it both the times we went there. The staff was pretty fast to change the coal without much fuss about it.

And within budget the place makes it an amazing place for the nearby college students to hang out.

Have More, Prashant Vihar

The trusted old Chinese Van for us college friends(but only for the strong tummys). Have More is a chinese cuisine delight. Everything we have tried over the past 3 years has been tasty, be it the Chowmein, the Spring Rolls, the Dry Manchurian (the best) or the Momos (freshly made) or any other thing.

One of the best thing and the reason we started frequenting Have More was the freshly made momos, although they take like 10-15 mins to be prepared they are worth the wait with the amazing chutney. Plus they are very different from the usual ones you get at the roadside momo vendor.

The place is definitely a must try if you happen to be anywhere near the place. The food there is easy on the pocket and taste will linger on your taste buds for long. The location has been given on the map for you to check out.

Flavoured Milk Shake and Ice Cream Parlour, Pitam Pura

Previously named Keventers, Pitam Pura. The shop sold milk shakes and ice cream shakes along with other snacks like Grilled Sandwich, Paneer Kulcha, Pizzas, Garlic Bread, etc.

We tried 3 different Milk shakes - Butterscotch, Kesar Pista and Mango. Butterscotch and Mango were very good but the Kesar Pista shake wasn't upto the mark. We also had Garlic Bread (a Pizza Hut Imitation) which was decent in taste.

Overall it was pretty fulfilling and well within budgets.

Soya Express, Amar Colony

So after my friend has recommended a dish in Soya Express almost 10 times, I finally went there after being refused Nagpal ke CHoley Bhature and Lajpat Nagar ke Rajma Chawal. We were hungry like hell and the Makhani Platter did justice to our hunger.

  The Platter was so good, I could not understand why haven't they launched a full fledged North Indian Menu. The Menu mainly consisted of snacks like Tikkas, Chaaps, and other Soya products(Non Veg. substitutes).

Talking about the Afgani Chaap (My friend's recommendation). Generally we agree on taste, but this Afgani Chaap was devoid of any real spices(maybe its meant to be like that) but after the platter is felt almost tasteless. But my friend is a lot into health food and maybe soya was the reason he liked the dish.

But the surprise package was the Chatti Ki Lassi, which we ordered sweet. The sweet topping was just amazing and refreshed me after a hectic day out in the sun. Do try this if you go!

Manchester United Cafe - Restaurant and Bar, Vasant Vihar

It was my first visit to the Man Utd cafe, and I should start by mentioning that I do not support the team. I was a neutral at the Manchester United - Chelsea game which incidentally turned out to be a great game. The place has been decorated beautifully with great emphasis on the colour RED. The sitting was a little uncomfortable but nothing really to deter the supporters of the game. I went there early to catch the game before the Man U match. There was a problem that the cover charges were only applicable for the Man U game and we had to pay extra for the Tottenham-Liverpool game before that.

Now about the food, we ordered quite a few things - Pizza, Pasta, Garlic Bread, United Burger and United Nachos. Although some of the things were pretty good, others were disappointing. The Pizza and the Garlic Bread were very good, the Pasta, the United Burger and the United Nachos could have been better. The Beer and soft drinks were like always.

The Service was pretty decent during the match, and before the match it was excellent.

Although a tad bit expensive, the Cafe was good fun. And there was support for the rival team as well with equally loud cheering for that team as well. And if you are a Manchester United Supporter then its a must visit. The anxiety, passion and enthusiasm for the game was a delight to watch.
