The Hero Has Returned
dcsidcrium:
“Same as always. Takin’ in strays, and trying t’ not get into too much trouble. You been alright, Link?”
“It’s been a little while, but I can finally say I’m back to my old self again. Turns out, this hero needed to save himself from staying too far in the past.”
The Hero Has Returned
dcsidcrium:
“I mean, time kinda does that, hero.”
“You’d think I’d get the hang of that thought, being the old Hero Of Time. How’s it been, Nikki?”
"Hero!" Link was greeted with open arms and a kiss to his cheek. Her index finger flicked his nose, but her grin still remained. "You have t' take me with you next time, okay?" How was she supposed to protect him if she stayed behind?
He missed her something fierce. Leaving behind family was like leaving a piece of himself behind. He wouldn’t deny it was necessary, but it was truly great to be back home. “I’ll pack your bags for you the next time! But I don’t plan on taking any extended adventures anytime soon.”
The Hero Has Returned
“You leave a place for a few years and they change everything.”
“Right here.” She’d taunt, holding up one middle finger. “Oh, wait… Wrong thing it’s RIGHT here.” And there she goes, raising up her OTHER middle finger at him. Like fuck she’d reveal her hiding place for anything dangerous.
“In other words it’s none of your damn business.” A noticeable cringe as he mentions Din’s Fire. “FUCK Din’s Fire. Tch, ‘sorry’ my ass you smart-ass. I’d LOVE to punch your face in with dagger or two right about now… Oh how I’d LOVE to.” The urge that was always there was strong. EVERY Link made her feel this way.
Gotta punch, gotta stab, gotta kill – Gotta, gotta, gotta. And she was itching for an ACTUAL fight. How long had it been since she last had a good, fun fight? Heck if she knew but she’d have to wait longer. Can’t risk anything right now.
“…Do me a favor and punch yourself in the gut with your sword.”
It was an odd thing to think about, but Link though he actually missed this particular Dark Link. She was very different from his own shadow, who was brutally honest in his own right but failed to sometimes to speak his mind to the hero he was a reflection of, speaking her mind without a care to his feelings or sensibilities. She said what she wanted the second it was on her mind. It was something to respect, was even refreshing in a smoggy different kind of way.
It was an odd thing, it never really made sense, but Link felt it.
“I really would, but the Deku Baba will need to be fed in about an hour. Jaws is still pretty young, so he needs a helping hand when it comes to his food.” His animals could be so needy when they were baby aged. “I’ll have to take a rain check. Maybe in about a hundred years or so?”
"Link...? Is that you?"
“No way, Aiden?” There was nothing like seeing an old friend after a long time apart. Lands and rivers created powerful barriers, but they were often nothing compared to the joy that ran through Link when he saw a familiar face. And, to be honest, he hadn’t thought he’d be seeing this one ever again. “You’re Hylian has gotten so much better!” he laughed.
“Actually, I came out here to burn your home down after I heard you had been gone for a while. Sucks to see you back. Looks like I’ll just have to burn you down along with your home. Okay now, get in there and prepare yourself for a VERY hot time.”
“Oh yeah, where’s the match?” Probably hiding in her pocket, or she may have intended to light a lantern, but he could pretend she was bluffing. “Or were you hoping my host would just preform Din’s Fire on its own?” His animals were in that house, having missed their home after weeks away, and he’d be damned if anyone was going to so much as blow smoke on it. “Sorry to ruin your plans.”
"Ew gross, YOU'RE back. Ew ew." {Ayeeee welcome back! u vu <3 }
“Aw,” he cooed. “I missed you too. I’m so happy you came out here to welcome me home.”
"How long you're going to keep that as a secret? "
Send me “How long you’re going to keep that as a secret?” For my muses reaction
Link took a while to answer. He was lucky Nikki was so patient with him, so willing to listen to the parts of him he kept hidden as they slowly seeping through on his own molasses time. “I don’t know.” He knew it was a sorry answer, but it was honestly all they had. “I’ve only dealt with being part wolf for a fraction of my life.” And what a very small fraction it was when you compared it to the years he’d taken breathes and opened his eyes. “I don’t know how to go about sharing it, or showing people that I don’t change much when I switch forms.” He curled into himself just a bit, showing his vulnerability in its purest form. “I just don’t want people to be afraid of me.” So, maybe a few more years of secrecy wouldn’t hurt. Just a few more.
When they’d met, Nikki hadn’t thought twice about revealing herself. She’d shifted from wolf to human with an instinctive knowledge that she could trust him, and Link had never done anything to prove her wrong. Easing his nerves and going through something as terrifying as revealing a part of yourself that you weren’t sure loved ones would understand was the least that she could do, and Nikki was more than happy to do so. Even now, sometime she didn’t understand why their bond had grown as strong as it did.
“It’s absolutely terrifying,” there were very few secrets she had that were of the same caliber that this was to her beta, and only one of them that the hero didn’t know. She’d be damned if her beta came to harm because of her, be it physical or emotional. “but you’ll be glad when it’s over, trust me.” Her gut was telling her this would end well. That he wouldn’t lose his family over his secret, and if she was wrong, he wouldn’t lose all of them, at least. She wasn’t sure what she’d do if she led him astray, but the two of them would figure it out. Together. “You ready, Link?”
Link wasn’t sure this was a moment he would ever be ready for, if he could rustle every ounce of courage to stand with confidence. Looking at an enemy was very different from looking into the eyes of someone a you had loved and lied to. Rejection from one was expected and even slightly welcomed, while it was utterly horrifying when coming from the other.
He would never be ready for this. But he hadn’t been ready for life as a hero either, and he’d still done a pretty damn good job at all of that.
“Let’s do this.” He let out a long, deep breath of air. As it left his body, so did the strongest doubts and the worst of his anxiety. “But, if my legs start shaking and I start to fall, promise to catch me? I don’t think I make a convincing point when my face if full of dirt.” he said, laughing lightly.
The tense left at that simple promise. Marilou didn’t know why she didn’t like crowds. She thought it was because her being from a small town. But something told her it wasn’t that simple. That something though was hidden deep with in her mind and truly she ignored. She fear it she didn’t one but she did. She could tell he didn’t trust which was normal for people maybe not for her but she did always see the best in people. Marilou could handle crowds when she need to like now when she needs info and food. But otherwise one this info was found she was going to leave into the forest.
“Thank you.”She was truly grateful to him for his help. Otherwise she still be lost. “I do mean it means a lot to mean that your helping me.” She could tell he didn’t trust which was normal for people maybe not for her but she did always see the best in people. Marilou could handle crowds when she need to like now when she needs info and food. But otherwise one this info was found she was going to leave into the forest.
Link took a moment to listen to the clocks of the town. Castle Town had an odd little quirk, something no one planned but Link swore was done on purpose by someone, and every clock ran on exactly the same minute and second time frame. When one began to tick, he knew the others would surely follow. To some that was a very small thing. To him, it could be the beginning of something important.
“Let’s get going.” His eyes darted to a clock on a nearby balcony. “I want to try and get in there before Castle Patrol decides to take their midday meal.” He smiled and turned left to try and find the path he was searching for. Once he found it, he offered his hand once more and motioned to an empty side street. “Shall we?”
"Do you know what love is?"
“I used to, once upon a time.” It was unrequited, but Link could still recall the warmth and happiness that even a painful kind of love could give. He was a sad hero when the one’s he loved fell for someone else, but just seeing them smile had been enough for him. “The meaning tends to stick when it’s real.”
The little scrub nodded and hurried to keep up, huffing in exhaustion as it had to jump over little branches and rocks. "We're going to see the princess? Woah I heard she's really pretty"
“Pretty doesn’t really do her justice, but you’ll see that she’s very kind and very wise.” He had yet to embark on a journey Zelda couldn’t provide him help with. If there was an issue with Hyrule, within the country she overlooked, she had a solution. “Just watch out for the castle guards. They can be a little unfriendly.”
*crashes into* "Friend."
Link grunted as the Poe connected to his side. “Talk about an enthusiastic welcome.” He smiled, patting Joelle on the head and even going in for s short hug. What could he say, he was in a good mood.
((I think I’ve got my muses back.))
((A wild Link mun appears.))

You need to understand this.
Although I have a lot of followers, I have a really good memory for people. If you sent me a sweet message, if you added a cool comment to one of my posts, or if you just reblog my stuff all the time, I probably remember your face/avatar/url and smile to myself every time I see you in my activity tab.
