The dictionary definition of perfect is, "being entirely without fault or defect; flawless."
Is it possible for something to be perfect?
Yes.
Someone can get a perfect score on their math test. Someone can draw a perfect circle. There are perfect things in this world.
Is it possible for a person to be perfect?
No.
Everyone has their flaws. Whether it's something small, like biting their nails, or something much bigger, like the horrible thoughts that can course through their head. Every person that has ever existed has been flawed in their own way. A perfect person has never existed.
Some expect others to be perfect.
Some expect themselves to be.
The harsh reality is that this expectation can never be fulfilled.
Instead of striving to be that perfect human being and being flawless, people should learn how to do the opposite. They should learn how to embrace their flaws because there will always be something that just isn't right.
It's hard, I know. When so many people tell you that there's something about you that needs to be fixed, you want to fix it. You feel ashamed of that one thing that they won't shut up about, and eventually you start to believe it.
Some people are told that their ugly because they have acne, something they can't really control. They begin to give in to all the horrid words that are thrown at them. They completely and totally believe that no one sees beauty when one looks at them. They cry when they look in the mirror. When that one little flaw goes away, they continue to believe that they're hideous. The words plague them at night, and they hurt. Even when told that they're beautiful, they can never believe it, all because of those stupid, insignificant words.
They are flawed.
As time passes, one can learn that these flaws are not bad, but something good. They can show what a person is like, what they have been through.
The acne scars are no longer something disgusting, but rather something exquisite. The scars tell their own story, whether people choose to pay attention to it or not.
Will it take time?
Yes.
It's hard to embrace those imperfections that everyone ridicules.
What people need to realize is that what others say about them is not important. It's what they think of themselves that is.
