The beginning of everything

I believe in mastering the foundations of everything. I think it is important to root down those foundations well. Without a firm grounding of everything that I am, I learn, and what I believe in, I can get lost easily. It is only when I come back to the basics, am I able to then embark on a journey. Stronger in mind, body and spirit. Bringing energy, faith, love & happiness to all those around me, and most importantly not forgetting, to oneself.

What a good time to reflect..

Sitting here in a little corner in Cafe Nero, York Coppergate. Half way through sipping my English Breakfast Tea, and half eaten scone homemade by Hyein. I feel very peaceful. 

Never really sat in coffee shops for very long before, but today I thought I would give it a go. Who knows if I will be able to bury my head down in the computer and crack on with some learning outcomes, or just listening to some lounge music in the background and surfing the net. Eitherway, I thought I would relax. Past two weeks has been quite hectic, life filled with anxiety and worries, less than 8 months till important end of year exams, I think it would be nice to try and get life sorted and living on top of things, don’t you? 

Life as a medical student is hard! Late night on-calls, constant competitive peers bickering at by your side, different teachers, different expectations, no time to relax for the entire weekend without thinking about the dreaded Monday morning to come where I have to face the reality again. Pressures of being a medical student is immense and I am not quite sure if I am the right person to be in this place. But what I do know is this is what I wanted to be, a good doctor, I aspired to be a successful one. Behind that intelligent, wise and reassuring doctor that knows exactly what s/he is doing, is a life full of deadlines, endless exams and STRESS of daily living! 

I wanted to be that individual that is able to handle all these complications of life. I must say I am not really keeping up. I love to wander off topics, lose my concentration and focus, and just be a bit lazy at times and not think about anything. I was never like this in my early twenties!! What has changed?? I should still be carefree and young, should I not? Why do I care if my boyfriend goes out and forgets about me? Why do I can what competition is around me? Why do I care what worries I have…Eric is right about something, I am tied down. Why do I care about all these things anyways. It did make me stop to think, why do I care about anything else other than myself? 

When you care too much about other people and things, you lose a bit of yourself if you are not careful…and I think this is probably the situation I am in now. A part of this has become my personality ingrained in me. It will take a very long time to change the way my brain perceives things. To go back to be truly happy in myself, will take some time and patience I think. So faith is what I need now. Faith to guide me to myself. Faith to keep me grounded. Faith to be able to let go and still be content. Faith to be just me. 

Well guess what now? Time to hit those books and learning outcomes! As promised I will be doing some work, whilst Hyein finishes her shift at work, that way when we meet up later, everything will just be fine.

Its been a lovely Saturday morning so far, smell of freshly brewed coffee and relaxing music and a peaceful mind, is just what I needed. :)
