i like when a story has multiple major characters who are extremely important to the plot and close to the protagonist but rarely talk to eachother. like its just relatable to me. who hasnt had a 'best friend of my best friend' relationship. a 'guy whos in all my group chats but i genuinely dont remember their name sometimes' relationship. now imagine going on a quest to save the world together. incredible vibes.

I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friend’s parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friend’s parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.

Paris visiting plans for leftists under a heatwave (based on my 1 week there with my bestie last week, note I was born and grew up in Paris)

Day 1. Sleep in a lot and then go see the Père Lachaise cemetery, where you will be able to pay your respects to the likes of Nestor Makhno, Félix Guattari, Paul Éluard, various memorials to French Resistance fighters, Holocaust victims, Commune Revolutionaries, and international volunteers in the Spanish revolution. Go eat French food at a Bouillon restaurant.

2. Enjoy the centre of Paris: the Louvre and the Photography Museum, but keep an eye out on St Michel bridge for the memorial plaque to the October 1961 Algerian victims of police repression. Notre Dame is in the background and all the tourists pass by the plaque not noticing it. Refresh yourself in the Paris Great Mosque with mint tea and gazelle horns.

3. The Right Bank (north of paris) is where it's at. Chill out in the Belleville and Buttes Chaumonts parks, eat banh mis and other Asian food, maybe take the chance to visit the cent-quatre art centre. It's really really hot: go swim in the canal St Martin with about a million teenagers. Drop by the Square Louise Michelle in Montmartre and read the Commune Wikipedia page there while overlooking Paris. Have a couscous in Ménilmontant and catch a football game in some bar.

4. You don't have much time left but since you're in the East, check the memorial plaque for the February 1962 massacre in the Charonne metro station and then head over to Montreuil see if anything is on at La Parole Errante. Buy a crepe, buy an ice-cream, go have a nap.
