I’ll try again because that’s what people like me do,“ she said. “I get broken down and beaten but I’m strong and this unknown force among us will not break me but when I fall down seven times, I will stand up eight, no matter what happens.
c.m. (excerpt from a book i’ll never write #003)
Almost dead yesterday, maybe dead tomorrow, but alive, gloriously alive, today.
Robert Jordan (via wordsnquotes)
“Hey. Hey let go of me. Put me down. You think just because I’m small that I can’t take care of myself or that I’m gonna let myself become zombie fodder or bait? I don’t think so!”
Ravi didn’t mean to bother anyone. He was just…running. It was what he did best. He was searching for Luz, for safety, for anything really. And now he found himself in an empty classroom. He stood there in the silence for a minute, wondering what to do next. Should he go to his dorm? Should he continue to try and find Luz? And what if the killer came looking for any stragglers. Here he was, all on his own. The thought made his blood run cold and he ducked down behind a desk - only to find someone else was there. He yelped and fell back. “Please – don’t hurt me!”
Hearing another voice Marnie held her breath trying not to alert the stranger to her presence, hoping that they’d just leave thinking the room was empty. Her heart was in her throat as she waited to see what would happen, hoping that this wouldn’t be her last moments. Her eyes widened as she watched a shadow loom closer to her hiding spot causing her to close her eyes in fear and cover her head as she bit back the tears. It was only as he tripped over her that and she heard his words, that the blonde’s eyes flashed open in alarm. “I-- You’re the one in my hiding spot! How do I know that you’re not going to hurt me?” The sophomore whispered harshly, not wanting to draw any more attention.
There was no word for it, Marnie was terrified. No matter how much bravado and lack of caring attitude she tried to give off, she had no idea how to handle any of this. Those bodies that were just hanging there, so lifeless and young only to have their lives ripped away from them. She couldn’t escape and she couldn’t speak to her parents. The blonde had been hiding behind a desk for a while now, not wanting to risk bumping into whoever was behind those deaths. It was at that moment that she began to wish that she was with Ingrid or that she at least knew she was safe even if they didn’t get along on most days. She’d give anything to change that right now.
Ingrid Sergeant, alone at a dance? What a fucking surprise. Of course, it’s not actually a surprise ; quite the opposite, really. Pretty enough to be the prom queen but off to the sidelines, just like countess times before, probably forever. Ingrid tried to drown her sorrows in a plastic cup full of punch, only to feel even more pathetic as green, near watery eyes roamed over people dancing, kissing, having fun ; all things she never got to do, convinced herself she didn’t want to do. Sitting there, with everyone’s fun staring her in the face, however, was only making her feel worse. Literally counting down the seconds until she could leave ( she didn’t want to come in the first place but figured the rumors that would’ve sprung out of her not coming were worse than the rumors about her being alone — now she was really regretting that decision ), there was a sudden presence felt in the empty seat next to her and Ingrid was instantly put on the offensive. ❝ Sorry, I’ll go sit somewhere else. ❞ No one would want to be seen with her, of course.
The small blonde wasn’t even sure how her friends had managed to get her into the dance, one minute she was out sulking by her locker and the next she was being thrown over a shoulder with the threat of, well several threats that all seemed to blur into one if she was honest. Seeing the sight of all the happy students was enough to make her fake gag, it all just seemed so fake to her. She just found it all to be so stupid and no point of it, all school dances ever seemed to do was cause drama and make those that were slightly more quiet feel isolated. all the girls seemed to care about were their outfits or getting dates and all the guys seemed to care about was who they could sleep with that night or who was the hottest in the room. Scoffing at the sight of yet another kissing couple, she barged through the crowds in hopes of grabbing a drink. As Marnie poured herself a drink she spotted in the corner of her eye Ingrid, as usual sitting on her own. Gnawing at her bottom lip she was having an internal debate as to whether she should go over to her. Letting out a deep sigh, the blonde found herself wandering over taking a seat next to her and placing a drink in front of her sister. “Sit. What’s with the face?”
“What am I? Hm, that is a good question..” She paused for a moment for effect. “Let’s see if this gives it away, after all I wanted to go for the complete opposite of myself.” She plastered an overly fake smile on her face and stood in the first position of the cheer leading team. “1. 2.3. Go Team!” Her voice was laced with overly enthusiastic cheerfulness, though after a few seconds her facade slipped and her sarcastic sneer was back in place as she shivered in disgust. “Now beat it. I’m not going into that room and I’m not going to that stupid dance, the only reason I dressed up was to rub it in the stupid cheer coach’s face.”

“Stupid, corny, and true. But if you don’t like that word, perhaps wonderful describes you better. And if that doesn’t suit your fancy either, maybe magnificent or superb. Any of those doing it for ya?”
“You don’t know me. Stop saying these things. No. No. No.” She kept repeating shaking her head, hating the positive things he was saying, not able to believe that any of them could be true especially not about her.
“Yeah, well, I’m sure you’ll find one that could describe you fairly accurately — considering that you have all the time in the world to decide on something. Do you need a dictionary to help you with that?”
“Nope, I’m perfectly adept at thinking of something. Just as I am at thinking of ones to describe you accurately. I could give you a list if you’d like?”
“Yeah, I’m really not seeing this angel side of you. You remind me more of Satan’s spawn.”
“Well you’re just rude. No wonder you don’t see it, why would I show it to someone of the likes of you. Besides, didn’t you know... even he was once an angel.”
“Yeah, you really look like it.”
“You’re obviously as blind as a bat.”
