So, how was Fortelling created? I used to be a highschool student daydreaming at the back of math class. One day, our school introduced tablets for during classes. I was that guy that learned himself to programm and built the first version of what has now become Fortelling. Over time, I kept adding features to solve all the struggles I encountered while writing: being overwhelmed by unorganized ideas, procrastinaton, and being unconfident in my writing.

Now the app has reached 600,000 downloads, and as a solo developer, I never imagined Fortelling would become this huge. My goal is to promote creativity and create confidence in what your wonderful mind can come up with.

Why is Fortelling growing so quickly? I believe in running a sustainable business that isn’t creepy. I respect your privacy and charge Fortelling Pro instead of selling any data, or hoping to be bought out.

There is no AI and never will be. Your data is safe in Fortelling and far away from any training center. There are no investors that can push the company in any other direction.

Is it really free? The default tools in our mobile app are completely free: create unlimited characters, locations, chapters, timelines, outlines, boards, and more!

What’s coming for Fortelling 5.0?

We’ve taken a big step together with the community to get closer to this next update. You’ll be able to create relationship trees. Whether it’s a family tree or a hierarchy, you’ll be able to build it in Fortelling 5.0.

For every new tool, there should be a clear example. That’s why the community has been creating characters for the family tree of Tely, the Fortelling mascot. It’s been great seeing all the OCs come in. Each one has its own lore and personality, and it really brought the tree to life. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Fortelling 5.0 will include the relationship tool along with other features that are still being kept private for now. Follow if you don’t want to miss the update.
