Summer Sun
Unrestored scan from a negative I found on Rue Caulincourt Paris, Date and location unknown.
I know I have been away a while, something I hope to resolve soon. To kick start this place back into life an example of an image I haven’t attempted to restore yet, and fairly typical of many in my collection. I found this negative on Rue Caulincourt in Montmartre on a rainy November day, it had been trodden on many times and was very much the worse for wear. I’d imagine this is somewhere in the Alps, late 50s or early sixties.
Found negative, lay on the street in Montparnasse.
Bathing beauties. Scan from negative found on street in Montmartre
A very young Christian Bale in Spielbergs Empire of the Sun, another scan of an original 4x5 publicity negative found in Paris.
Something slightly different today. I purchased a box of around 30 4x5 negatives, unseen for €5 at a Paris flea maket. When I got them home I discovered they were original publicity stills for some very well known movies, most of which I recognised, both film and cast. This “set” image has me stumped though, anyone recognise the guy?
Location unknown, very damaged glass plate from a box marked “du 5 juillet 1938 au 4 juin 1939, purchased from a junk sale in Paris
Family group, glass plate from a bunch I bought at a junk sale in Paris, the box is marked June 1931.
Damaged negative of woman with perambulator. Found on street in Paris
The Piano room
Found negative
Young girl with bicycle
Found negative from another packet I found in the Montmartre rubbish pile, this one marked “Kodaks” and again it appears to belong to the family Bonniel
Horse drawn sleigh on snow, date and location unknown
This is a glass plate from a collection of several hundred I purchased unseen in Paris at a junk sale. The seller offered me a large box of “photographs” for €20. Imagine my surprise when I found the plates.
From the same packet as the previous post, though with considerably more damage. Three young men, studying.
I have looked at the packaging again and I think the name handwritten on it may be Bonniol
In a rubbish pile in Montmartre I found a packet marked Studio BELVEL, 16 Ave de la Gare, Nevers. It contained 7 large format negatives of what appear to be writers and musicians. This is the first scanned, a young man writing at his desk with what appears to be a photo of his sweetheart in a frame. Her style of dress hints at the twenties or thirties.
I have looked at the packaging again and I think the name handwritten on it may be Bonniol
Negative found on a rain swept Rue Ordener, Paris. Woman with four children in what looks like an Alpine setting. The woman is holding a French magazine.
Scan of a print I found among discarded rubbish in Montmartre. First day at school?
