Noel: ''I was a fine arts student at a college which also admitted engineers. The engineers were basically thugs with spanners who were forever chasing us weirdo arts students through the streets for looking different. Eventually, I got to an all-arts college - where I saw Julian performing at a comedy night. He was the first comedian I'd seen who I could relate to totally. That led me to do some comedy myself."

When Noel was at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2002, he was invited to perform with the Ladyboys of Bangkok, along with fellow comic Spencer Brown. I did a post about it but hadn't been able to find a photo. But yay! There was a photo in The Scotsman and some quotes:

"The Ladyboys have taken a shine to funny boys Spencer Brown and Noel Fielding. Flicking through the Fringe guide, the Ladyboys thought they were so attractive they insisted the comics join the show ... for a night, anyway."

Noel: "We were selected by the performers as the most feminine comedians."

Spencer: "I've never wanted to do it before, but Noel's just been going on and on about it. I thought he needed some support. I'm doing it just for him."
