Agnes - ADOPTED!!!
2y | Domestic Longhair | Spayed | UTD
Born in a hoarding house, Agnes was still a kitten when she gave birth to a litter of her own. The house later caught fire, stranding almost 30 cats with nowhere to go. Fortunately, a generous neighbor, who already cared for a local colony, offered her property and energy to them. While many have since found loving homes, she continues to care for those left behind today.
We began fostering Agnes in October of 2024 during Hurricane Milton. Despite the circumstances of her life, she remains a playful and loving companion. If you are looking for an energetic cat that appreciates toys and towers, look no further; if you are looking for a missing sock, then chances are Agnes stole it. Talkative and affectionate, she would enjoy nothing more than to follow you around and engage in conversation before climbing into your lap to cuddle. Agnes loves to be held, especially while being sung to; her favorite spot will always be on your shoulders if you let her, and maybe if you don’t too.
While she tolerates our dog, Agnes does not get along with the other cats in our home; though she has made some progress in recent weeks, she’d likely do best in a single-pet household. As a longhair cat, she has some unique grooming needs, but she gets antsy when it’s time for a brush. Please keep these in mind when considering adoption.
Gertrude & Georgie
2y | Domestic Shorthair | Spayed | UTD
Gertrude and Georgie are a pair of sisters ready for adoption. Due to their close bond, they MUST stay together.
We welcomed the sisters in 2023, making them our longest foster residents. I’ve never met cats with a tighter bond. Never apart for long, they spend their time cuddling, grooming, and playing, chasing each other through the house and up cat trees at top speed. Both know their names and come when called, especially Gertrude, who retrieves her sister on command if properly motivated. For these girls, everything in life is an opportunity for fun, and perhaps a bit of mischief too. They have a special fondness for attacking the sheets while you try to make the bed. If you are looking for a pair of cats that will always remain kittens at heart, please consider opening your home to these sweet sisters.
Gertrude gets along well with the other animals in our home. Georgie tolerates our dog and the other cats; while both would do well in a multi-pet household, they’d thrive being the center of your attention. They are high-energy cats that benefit from daily exercise through active play. They are bonded and MUST be kept together. Please keep these in mind when considering adoption.
Elias
8y | Domestic Shorthair | Neutered | UTD | FIV+
Ellas has walked a difficult path in life, but dedicated survivors alway keep growing, and that's exactly what he does. After at least one year of living in a Miami parking lot (likely more) he was left emaciated, dehydrated, infested, infected, and impacted. We became involved in November '24 when his photos were shared on Facebook. Initially, we assisted by contacting rescues for longterm placement. However, after days with no luck and Elias's condition worsening, we took him in as a medical emergency foster.
A group of amazing rescuers came together to trap and transport Elias 5 hours from Miami to Hastings, FL. Before returning home, we went to an emergency vet, who told us he's FIV+. There was mucus caked around his nose and in his nasal cavity that had to be removed with tweezers, caused by a severe respiratory infection from how long he went untreated. Elias had one of the worst cases of lice and ear mites the vet tech had ever seen, a sentiment I share. Only one badly damaged tooth remained in his mouth, and he was so hungry that he'd started eating sand and cat litter. Elias couldn't properly pass bowel movements, so waste was collecting in the fur and skin around his bum, but mostly inside his body itself; the vet had to work for a long time to remove it. There were old injuries that healed wrong, such as damage to his hind legs affecting his gait, likely from a vehicle impact; due to his age, his vet recommends foregoing the stress of X-rays and testing, as he wouldn't survive anesthesia for surgery regardless.
Elias couldn't eat, breathe, defend, or relieve himself for an unknown period of time, so his road to recovery has been long and winding; for some time, he could only have bowel movements when I assisted with expressing, and rarely left his bed behind the bathroom toilet. Today however, he is an entirely different cat.
Though he may have a perpetually runny nose, a notable swagger to his step, and a tongue with a mind of its own, the vet assures us he is not in pain, and that he's as healthy as is physically possible. Elias enjoys jumping and climbing, exploring and solving puzzles, cuddling his pet human and chasing their broom. We are currently acclimating him to a harness in the hopes of giving him time to enjoy the outdoors. He's the quietest cat in our home, but don't be fooled - Elias is constantly considering the world around him. He is HIGHLY food motivated. Most of all, he wants to be near you - If you're cooking in the kitchen, he'll sit by your feet; if you lay on the couch, he'll nap by your legs. You'll never grow tired of seeing his little tongue poking out, or his sad puppydog eyes when he asks for your love and attention.
While he tolerates our dog, Elias certainlv doesn't like him. He is uncomfortable with loud noises and quick movements, which, coincidentally enough, is our dog's middle name. We are still assessing his behavior around other cats, though so far he has not warmed up. Overall, Elias would likely do best in a quiet environment without other animals. To mitigate the eating of litter, we use a pan with a plastic grate. He struggles with using a litter box sometimes but uses a potty pad if offered. The combo has worked well. Additionally, all food must be mashed, ground, or boiled long enough to easily break with the pads of your fingers. Please keep these in mind when considering adoption.
