and he's got! stuff! going!
ok so taking that storytelling method, we've got ourselves a court card! so pages tend to represent journeys, beginnings, and learning. they're curious and energetic, starting on the journey of personal growth, and also tend to symbolize invitations, a green light for new opportunities and ventures. and i deffff think those things do represent francis (he's ~figuratively young if not literally so ;D) but, tellingly, its reversed! these things are blocked!! this is also the page of wands, the suit of fire, of the ~spirit, so his v spirit is blocked, the fire of his will, his determination, his individuality, even. buuuuut its also in the third position so ive started at the end hahaha
ok so we've got a vii of swords, the suit of air/intellect; and a vii of pentacles, the suit of the earth/body. interesting, too, this repeated seven -- spirituality, reflection, discovery, knowledge, wholeness, perfection...but also determination: confidence, inner work, struggle, assessment, knowledge, and self-interest
he's also rocking three suits, so he's primarily concerned with intellect, body, and spirit -- at least he's apparently got his emotions in good order! ;D
vii of swords -- (upright) sharpness. a focused and determined attitude. concentrating on a clear goal and doing what it takes to reach it. winning a fight with the odds evenly balanced. (reversed) a narrow and over-concentrated vision. investing one's efforts and resources in a lost cause.
vii of pentacles -- (upright) acceptance. smth new is well received. help and protection. integrating into a system without losing one's individuality. (reversed) lack of independence, need to rely on help and acceptance from others
page of wands -- (upright) a creative potential which still needs processing. keeping a safe distance from events and waiting for the right moment. (reversed) a task too heavy for the qurent's strength. difficulty in controlling desires and urges. immature approach to sexuality.

ok so esp w being an ancient and immortal being, i think we're seeing actually different parts of francis' psyche at war w eo here!
ok so the vii of swords depicts a man carrying 5 swords, carrying them off somewhere, but he's looking back at the two he can't pick up -- someone symbolically focused on that which they can't grasp and thus neglecting everything held in their hands. a mind juggling too much to take more, yet greedy for more
the vii of pentacles shows a man who appears to be ready to harvest, yet leaning wearily on his plough. he's got sm more to grasp, yet he's too tired to reach out and do it, even though seven huge coins wait to be plucked. he is reversed. someone overcome by their burdens, separated time and again from success in his goals. someone wondering if he can go on trying anymore.
the page of wands clasps a staff in his two hands, admiring it. he is finely clad, his vestment depicting roses, a suggestion of passion and of luxury. the landscape beyond him is vast. he looks towards the sky. he is reversed. hope flickering. his gaze affixed to the sky is now, in so doing, turned downward. hopes crushed, flickering, diminished.
so this is def talking abt his struggles within the circus. he wants to start smth new, he wants to prove the goodness, but the truth he can't see is that he is in fact ~using ppl to do it. the weary ages roll past and he no longer believes, struggles to keep going. im thinking that, perhaps, alistair has won the past few ventures? and he's beginning to feel he's doomed to lose every time. and maybe he is, bc can you ever really prove honesty by deceit? can you prove goodness by a means which is not, in itself, bad? i don't think he fully grasps this, but i think smth like it is flipping over in his mind, beginning to suggest itself, perhaps, as he better comes to understand humans, tho i thinkhe feels sundered from them. too focused on what he doesn't have than what he ~does.
its the ~creating drama~ for me that's really bringing this out -- he's pushing these ppl into this battle and sure he's being kind abt it but he's still pitting them against others! ~he's creating drama! this is juicy MUAHAHAH
