When people argue that Kevin was just "born that way", they always bring up scenes from when he was already being abused (emotionally). Yes, Kevin probably has some neurological stuff going on that is not Eva's fault but he only got so far because he was neglected and abused.

I also want to mention that children are much MUCH more emotional aware than we think. If you hate your child, they will know very early on. They also need a lot of social interactions. Babies die if they aren't held/touched and can develop a lot of disorders/fears/anxieties.
