Listening to Everything Stays from the Adventure Time OST and thinking about Gricko and Hootsie. Thinking about Gricko singing her lullabies when she's just little. Thinking about how one minute she's there at the Witchlight Carnival and the next she disappears out of his life, all because of one small mistake. Just gone. Vanished. Thinking about when they finally do reunite, the time that has passed has been far longer for Hootsie than it was for Gricko. She's had to grow up in ways that take him by surprise, because he couldn't know the circumstances she was in, because he couldn't be there. His baby girl and he couldn't be there for her, she's still similar enough but changed in little ways. She's still changing, even as the adventure progresses she's getting bigger, more independent, ever-changing because that's what happens when you grow up. And every time Gricko has to leave her for a length of time, when they reunite she's changed and grown just that little bit more.
