Deciding that it was too cold to sleep alone, Alexia got up and left her own tent for the one she knew has Eli in it. Stepping in quietly she dropped her own blanket and proceeded to climb into his bed and snuggle right into his warmth. It didn't take long for her to go back to sleep.
jinho felt something press against his body as he woke up. he slowly opened his eyes, only to find alexia snuggling up to his chest. well damn, how was he going to move now? his lips curled into a little smirk. he almost chuckled; he was aware that she enjoyed snuggling up to him. after all, what kind of woman wouldn’t want a personal heater? she was fast asleep, and it would be a shame to wake her up. instead, jinho watched her sleep. pressing his thumb against her forehead, he remarked, “hey sleeping beauty, you gotta wake up so i can move now.”  Â
Jaehyuk was sort of regretting asking for help from Jinho. Sort of. The younger male was definitely flighty and could appreciate something that appealed to his eyes—and Jinho was definitely hot in every sense of the word. But Jesus, he’s a little too much for Jaehyuk to handle when he became like this. Scrunching his nose, he let out a little sigh when the other took the dough from his hands and kneaded it on his own. Sure, he wasn’t the best at making bread—but dear god, Jinho was another level of extra. “Alright, Gordon Ramsay,” Jaehyuk drawled as he made to follow what he did and took the dough back. “What am I supposed to do after?”
stepping behind the younger male, jinho removed jaehyuk’s hands from the dough. “okay smart ass, you’re handling the dough too roughly.” as he spoke, his breath brushed against the other male’s neck. “don’t touch it so much.” jinho realizes that probably sounded a lot more sexual than he intended. he remarks, “i’m not going to take it easy just because you’re so cute.” jinho wanted to elicit some sort of response from jaehyuk. he thought it’s amusing. as usual, he proved to be successful. stepping aside and grabbing the bowl next to jaehyuk, the older male lightly played with the dough before carefully placing it inside and covering it with cloth. sticking out his tongue, he teased the other male, “pft, you’re hopeless.” Â
“You’re adding way too much salt,” Jinho remarked. “You’re only supposed to add a pinch.” Bread seems really simple to make, but it actually requires a lot of technique. The person he’s trying to help isn’t much of a chef themselves. In his opinion, they’re lacking the talent. “You can’t just place the dough on the cutting board without dusting it with flour first or else it’s gonna stick.” He’s not really the type to hover behind someone’s back and micromanage, but this is starting to get on his nerves. Being patient is harder said than done. “Just watch me...” Dusting the flour onto his cutting board, Jinho sprinkles more flour onto the dough. He gently moves his hands around the dough so that it becomes a soft, round shape. “See? Like this.”Â
Jinho really tried to forget, but he couldn't shake the thoughts of the circus from his head. This was what people meant by being unable to escape their past. How could he tell anyone that he was part of a band of freaks? He led a "normal life" after leaving the circus at the age of 18. He made friends after moving to Seoul, friends he wouldn't trade for the world.
Hyori's disappearance shocked him, even if it happened several years ago. She was like a mother to him. In fact, she was like a mother to all the other freaks. Had he betrayed Hyori when he decided to leave all those years ago? In his eyes, it wasn't betrayal; it was more like he wasn't going to stay under her wing forever. He was becoming a man, and he needed to figure things out for himself. There was nothing that would've come out of being sheltered. He still stands by his decisions.
He remembers that they didn't exactly see eye-to-eye on things. She never wanted the other freaks to leave the circus, claiming she created a safe haven for people like them. Jinho initially hated those words "people like them." Sure, he's different, but that didn't mean he needed to stay with the circus forever. Throughout his rebellious phase, he thought of her as a tyrant. The other freaks didn't seem to have a problem with it, defending her in blind faith.
He was even suspicious about her disappearance, thinking she may have been up to something all along. The other freaks believed she's out there to search for more freaks. He can feel it in his gut that it's lie. Yet, he felt sympathy for those who had nowhere to go. He had his doubts but in the end, she wanted what was best for him, right? She was the one who cared for him and defended him when no one else would. She pulled him out of the hellish orphanage and raised him. He will be forever grateful and indebted towards her. He just regrets not being able to be there when she needed him the most.
After all these years, he returned to the circus because if he can't be there for her, at least he can support the other members of the circus.
