the only way twyla's hair stayed semi-respectable was twisted in a long braid down her back. she always kept it that way unless she was bathing. even now as she wakes up, the blonde braid remains with frizzy locks coming out of the plaits. twyla's eyes stay closed as a smile makes its way onto her face. "maybe 'm just lettin' you do all the work," she mutters, voice still deep with sleep. her eyes open as she sits up, the soreness in her back flaring up. "are we late for a special occasion?" twyla smacks her lips, her mouth feeling dry. "did ya make any coffee yet?"
She was a lovely looking woman who made a lot of men let their guard down. Made it real easy for the gang to catch people with their pants down and rob ‘em blind. Of course, that hadn’t worked this time around, but setbacks were just one of those things you had to expect sooner or later and make sure you had an exit plan ready. They all made it out, which was all one could be thankful for. But now he had to deal with the mouthy blonde who was even more sassy when she didn’t get a good night of sleep in a soft bed.
“Sounds ‘bout right.” He scoffed, though there was a smile behind it. “Well seein’ how I was up first and busy making sure we was ready to ride out, musta skipped my mind. I’ll get some goin’ in just a minute, don’t you worry, ma’am. Maybe I can whip the lady up some breakfast as well? Hunt and slaughter some bacon up for ya?
open starter m/f/nb plot idea: y/m and felix's parents are close friends - and they would love if they got together (maybe they have history? maybe their best friends? open to ideas! starting them attending another family friend's wedding perhaps they are both in the wedding party??)
"You know my folks would be really jazzed if they got to throw a big wedding like this for us, you and me." Felix nods to the newly married couple laughing together with a nearby table of guests. "That would be something huh?" He laughs shaking his head before looking back to them. "That would be... that would be something huh?" Felix felt there might be an attraction there but it's not something he's acted on. At least not yet.
Weddings were always so awkward; Waverly couldn’t understand why old people loved them so much. You had to look nice, but not prettier than the bride. You had to bring a nice gift off a list of expensive things that would never be used. You had to be social with people who you hadn’t seen in ages but who felt entitled enough to ask you deeply personal questions about your life. Most awkward of all was being seated next to the guy that seemingly everyone was pushing you towards. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Felix; he was a good man, and never pushy, but the pressure everyone put on them was always so off-putting. All she could do was nod along. “Pretty sure my mom already has a dress and venue picked out. That and a script about how she was right and always knew, blah blah blah…”

“ you know you’re insufferable, right? ” it had been only three days on set, and it had taken less than that to find out that the rumors were true. frustration rumbled in her chest, and typically warm brown eyes grew icy as she glared daggers. “ the only way we’re going to get along is if you shut up. ”
"Wow. Pot, meet kettle." Felix chuckled. He was a nepo baby, it was true. He felt comfortable around famous people and on sets having grown up there. Being known on the inside made things easier, it was true, but that didn't mean he was lazy or untalented. But Devika had seemingly made up her mind about him before even getting to know him, and he was thick skinned enough not to mind and a good enough actor to play the part she gifted him.
"I think the only way for us to get along is for you to pull the stick out your ass and stop being such a diva. How you passed a chemistry read is beyond me."

No lights or signs? Theo's face pinched faster than he could fully register what the woman was saying. What kind of town doesn't have streetlights and signs? He'd visited small towns in North America - in fact, Philadelphia was surrounded by nothing but little Amish towns. Last he could see … with his own two eyes … this wasn't an Amish town.
"Your offer is far too kind but I really just want to get back on the road to get home. Nothing like sleeping in your own bed again after several nights away, ya know?" There was something about her demeanor - the way her eyes shifted as if looking for someone or a way to escape the conversation. "If you don't know, that's okay. Maybe someone in the diner can help me?"
He began moving - slowly - toward the diner steps. "Bit of a weird feel in the town, no? How long have you lived here?"
Glory wrung her hands when she was nervous. It was an obvious tell that she had always hated, but she wasn’t supposed to be in this position. He looked rightfully confused; she could see the suspicion in his eyes and the gears turning in his mind. He was obviously a smart man and wasn’t buying her nice act. Glory was nice, of course, but there was normal nice and that saccharine nice that tiptoed around the uncanny valley and would trigger anyone with sense to feel uneasy.
That was how she felt at that moment.
“Oh, I hear that. My family and I used to travel a lot and something about going home to something familiar…” She trailed off. Her words were a painful reminder that she would likely never go home again. That this man wouldn’t… Glory shook her head and tried to put a smile on, letting the words die in her throat. It’s just this way, come on. Our Sheriff should be back soon and he’ll be able to help you.” She offered as she walked alongside Theo. “ Me? Um…” She took a long pause. Too long. “ I think it’s been five months now...” She finally said, the sadness obvious in her voice. “ The town is… I-it’s unique. You’ll sort of get used to it after a while.” She said without thinking.
@frecklcfaced continued from here! / thank you!!
"I have to let you go, I'll put in the orders later. Have a good one." Indigo hangs up the work phone and places it down on her toolbox. "No worries at all, usually have an open door policy." Even though she usually liked people to go through the front desk. "I think I know what car you're talking about, I haven't brought it in yet but let me drive it up and I can look at it." Things have been crazy for her recently. Her brother, the shop, life itself. She was juggling all of that together. And she ran the WHOLE shop.
Walking over to a car logging book, she looks down at it. "Waverly? Yeah, okay. I got it." There was currently no car on the rack so, with that, she grabbed the keys and would eventually drive up onto the metal tire bars and get out. "So, you say it's funny sound." Typical. "I've had about twenty cars come through since this one so I'm sorry that I'm just now getting to it. It shouldn't be a big fix."
Waverly gnawed at her lip as she waited, feeling awkward about interrupting, but that wasn’t enough to override her hatred for Uber. She missed the comfort of her own car and the control that came with it and more than that she missed driving. “Sorry if I came here too early — they just said today.” She shrugged.
“Yeah, Waverly.” She added with a nod. Even if it wasn’t all written down, Waverly knew her card would be hard to miss. It was a bright pink Nissan Cube that to be fair, could only belong to Waverly. The woman loved her pink. Her dress was pink, her purse was pink, and frankly a funny as it would have been to be driving a Jeep or have the Cube belong to some burly construction worker in her head, Waverly knew that one look at her would make any mechanic worth their salt be able to pick out her car without a slip.
“Yeah, like this kind of grinding, scratching sound? It was weird; I was picking up something from Marketplace and it was kinda far so you can imagine driving on this creepy stretch of road and hearing this horrible sound. I thought there was some ghost or something under my car.” She laughed.
* 𓅪 ─── 𝓛. 𝐺. 𝐵. now how she got tangled up with this bunch, the feisty bird didn't know... one thing led into another when she didn't mean to be caught with them robbing a bank but it ended up being too late to get herself out of that situation before being framed with them so she had to roll with them. and even worse, couldn't stand not a single one of 'em, especially this one she's woken up to. he was mouthing either her or someone else while the sun burned her eyes after getting little sleep and wasn't up for letting it pass by that easily either way. sleep's still hanging in her voice & lack of it is having her real irritable bright and too early. "hope you ain't speakin' to me with a mouth like that. can find you a bar of soap to wash that out real quick." well soap might be out of reach, but her fists ain't. "'sides that... are we really lazy? or are you just that greedy. can't imagine why the hell you're awake already."
A smirk curled at the right corner Abe’s lip at her response. She had a mouth on herself and was no delicate flower, but that was needed when you rode with outlaws. Still, even though she wasn’t soft, he still found amusement in teasing her. “ Oh now pardon me, Miss Lucy; you see I meant everyone here but you. I would never dream of disrespectin’ a lady such as yourself.” he snickered. It was met with snickered from the posse, but not many. They truly didn’t disrespect women. Most of them were sons of unwed women, grew up in a brothel, or were downright whores themselves. Abe was an exception, but he didn’t need to be raised around women to know to respect one.
Even if that respect was more relaxed than it should have been.
“By all means, sleep in. I’m sure Pinkertons would love it if you stayed here to make it easier to find ya.” He added as he tightened the last strap of his saddle. “ ‘Course I’m greedy. Can’t speak for any of y’all, but I wouldn’t mind a hot bath, a stiff drink, and a soft bed to sleep in for a night or two. And all them things are needin’ money to get ‘em. Fine lady like yourself can’t possibly enjoy sleepin’ on ground, does ya?”
Today got away from me but replies are coming tomorrow!

open to : f / nb ( 30+, fcoc preferred , trans muses welcomed ! ) muse : carter moore. heterosexual. he / him. plot : jameson and your muse are about to finalize their divorce ... but what if either one or both are second guessing ? * please do not like my starter !
carter sucked on his teeth , lips pursing as eyes stared at the documents ; pen twirling between his fingers. " so we really doin' this huh ?" he rubbed his chin and glanced at the other. " the end of an era , i suppose."
Glory had prepped for this... If a bottle of wine and a list of reasons why everything would be better going forward was 'prep'. The sad part about watching a love grow cold is when you see the comfort turn from something you feel safe in to something that seems stale and boring. It makes all the thoughts that would could do so much if only untethered seem like the only option. But the reality of the papers before her was scarier than she thought.
"End of an era... Right" She echoed as she stared at the words until the starting to blur together. "But that's the point, right? Out with the old? Shake up life..." She said with a sigh, trying to convince herself. " What can you do when you don't know who you are without someone anymore?"
would you mind canon muses responding to your starters? or oc's preferred only?
I welcome any and all muses of any gender so long as they aren't using fcs that are drawn/cartoons
Year: 1887 based on the setting of Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2. Open to all
They had spent the night sleeping rough. Their little posse had been on the run for about a week after their last attempt at a robbery went to hell, and with what little money they had left to their names, the gang didn't think it all that wise to waste their last few dollars drinking and renting a room where folk were should their faces be on a poster somewhere. A pretty bastard like Abe was hard to miss.
While his mother named him for the president she adored, Abe was anything but honest. His mind was always on filling his pockets, so he had barely slept while thinking about their next big score. He was ready to move when he saw his partner stirring in their bedroll.
"Bout time you got up. I aint never seen a lazier bastard." He chuckled as he tied his things to his horse.
plot: two roommates watching TV when news of a zombie outbreak interrupts the show. Open to all @indiestarter
"Hurry up, you're missing all the good stuff. I'm pretty sure he's about to kiss that bombshell. God I hate that you got me hooked on this show." Waverly laughed. She felt like garbage, which meant that all she could really do was keep herself warm in her layers and binge watch brain rot television until she fell asleep. Thankfully, she had a great roommate, who could have been out at the bar but chose to hang out at home and possibly catch a cold from proximity.
"Ugh, never mind, they're interrupting it with news. What could be so important that they— Oh God, not again. Get in here; they're saying there's some new thing going around. I swear to God that better not be what I caught cause I can't miss my presentation Monday."
open to: anyone! ( male for romance! females for friends! ) plot: your muse's car is at indigo's shop and well, she's taking her time.
"Hey, hello - I'm looking to price some engine parts and I need ... " The tap on her shoulder makes her stop speaking turning to look at her customer with a curious look, leaning on her tool box. "Hold on a second please," she said calmly into the phone before saying, "What do you need?"
"Um, hi?" Waverly laughed softly. The person standing before her was a tiny thing, which said a lot given Waverly herself was pretty short. She also had a young face, which didn't match the overall aesthetic of the shop. "Yeah, hi, sorry... The door was open so I just... I left my car here on Tuesday, I think? Something under it was making a funny sound and it was kind of jerking whenever I tried to drive after idling a bit like at a stoplight. I was told to come in today so..."
