I really, really miss writing Freddie.
"True, I could be." he said with a smile. He never had really considered it but he liked the idea. "What do you plan on being?" asked Jesse.
Freddie paused for a beat before answering. "Uh, being a mechnic would be good. That's really the only talent I have, so why not use it, right?"
Cross My Heart || Hayley
Hayley was more taken aback by the soft tone to Freddie’s voice as he corrected her than she was by the act, would he need to use such a gentle touch when correcting anyone else? She was so sure that she was just being paranoid, that her own boyfriend didn’t feel like he had to approach her carefully lest she bite his head off. Clearly she had more of an attitude than she had previously realised, especially if such a little thing could make the hair on the back of her arms stand up. Quickly Hayley finds herself lulled out of her thoughts, her mind brought back to attention as roaming hands tease her skin through the fabric of her dress. “But you forget one thing he doesn’t have,” with a dangerous glint in her eyes Hayley smiles up at Freddie, already plotting and planning away in her head “he doesn’t have me. You do.” With her high links to the political world, she could destroy Nick’s chances of ever getting major in the industry within seconds, all it would take her is a phone call and it would be done.
The words dangle on the edge of her lips, she wanted to express the idea out loud, but somehow knew that Freddie wouldn’t approve. “Then I will meet your sister, if just havng her home makes you happy lets do it that way” She may have been talking but her mind was far too preoccupied with thoughts of the damage she could do, her hands slowly rising up to cup Freddie’s cheeks as she smiled back at him. “Arrange it with your parents” her lips curve into a nervous smile, even more aware of the vile person that she was than usual “and I will get up to date on my manners and such.”
It was astonishing how so few words could have such an effect on Freddie's attitude to the trip, but his immediately brightened, his smile became less strange, and he tittered quietly with happy laughter. "That's true. That's very true. I have you. Uh - not that I own you, of course." Freddie corrected himself quickly, his cheeks colouring a little. "I just, uh, get the privilege of spending time with you. And being... this close to you." he murmured, pressing his lips lightly to her forehead and leaning back once more, looking far more comfortable than he had only a minute or so ago. "I'll call my parents and tell them we'll be coming at some point. I'll fix it with a time Casey's home... and if Nick's there as well, then that's fine. We don't get a lot of family time, after all." The reassurances of the plan were more for his own benefit as he set out his tasks in his mind. Confident, his eyes returned from where they had been blankly examining the ceiling and met Hayley's gaze.
"So... do you want to go for a walk, or something? Or a drive? Or we can watch a movie and, uh, cuddle or whatever. Your call." Freddie suggested, shrugging his shoulders. All he wished for was to have Hayley's company, the presence that buoyed his self-confidence so, and the actual activity was of little importance to the young man. He took Hayley's hands in his once more and squeezed her fingers, an earnest expression on his face.
"True, but you’ll figure it out. I know it." he nodded then shrugged. "Maybe, authority figures and rules aren’t really my forte. I take after my power in that way." he said.
"You could always be the cool kind of teacher?" Freddie suggested, his eyebrows raised lightly. "You know, the kind everyone likes because they don’t enforce many rules?"
"You’ll get the hang of it someday powers aren’t easy to master or control. Take it from me. But once you find out how to master, and control your powers. It will feel like the easiest thing in the world." he smiled.
"Well, it’s a little hard to master something that just, uh… doesn’t happen. Or very rarely." Freddie replied hesitantly. "But, thanks, Jesse. That’s good advice! Maybe you could be a teacher here with that kind of talk."
Walking aimlessly around the fair while figuring out what to do, her eyes started to notice a figure that was in a way curled down. Her curiosity taken over, she strolled over to the male. ”Freddie?” She called out, after taking a closer look at the person. ”Is there something wrong?” Her voice and expression coated with worry.
His head seemed to be filled with cotton wool, such was the distraction of the nausea and illness that had resulted from his ride. It took Freddie a few seconds to realise the voice was speaking to him, and then another few seconds recognise Angelique once he had looked upwards. "Oh...hi." he greeted her weakly. "I, uh, took a ride on the rollercoaster. Really not my thing." he explained.
"Ugh... I don't think rollercoasters are for me."
Freddie groaned, leaning against the solid structure of a bench and looking decidedly pale. His legs were shaky, and so he slid slowly to the floor and tilted his head down, attempting to resist the nausea that rolled in his stomach.
"No, no I’d have been able to tell if she was lying she definitely said you took initiative and saved her life" Ripley retorted, wagging her pencil from side to side. "I know you’ve got some leadership skills in you somewhere."
The blush didn’t fade, and Freddie smiled humbly at Ripley’s words. “Alright, you’re not going to change your mind, are you? I’ll stop arguing. I’m not sure what I did counts as leadership, though…” he trailed off, glancing down at his lap. “Some people just aren’t meant to be leaders, you know?”
Cross My Heart || Hayley
"A road trip with just me, you and Lottie, it sounds rather appealing." Falling into Freddie’s touch, Hayley slides her arms to rest around her boyfriends neck gazing up into his hazel eyes. "Just to warn you I can be quite the bitch on long journeys though" her fingers nervously play with tufts of hair at the nape of his neck "a sweaty Hayley without a shower for a long time is a very cranky Hayley." Slowly Hayley slips her hands down to rest on his shoulders, "Arrange it with your parents, maybe you should try and get everyone home at the same time." Although Hayley herself couldn’t really imagine what it was like for Freddie to actually have a relationship, however rocky he felt it was, with his family.
"Charlotte. I don't like the name Lottie." Freddie corrected her in a gentle voice. His hands began to make a light, intimate circuit of her body, beginning at her waist and following the curve of her back upwards: then across her shoulders and returning to her hips in a steady motion. He smiled at the proximity - but the expression quickly faded as he considered her suggestion. "I don't know... I don't want everyone home at the same time. It's selfish, I know, but..." The young man confessed, his eyes focused on some point over her shoulder. "I don't like being at home when Nick is. He's just to used to drawing attention that I always feel a little, uh, forgotten. Especially when Mom's home too. He's her golden boy. Smart, successful, confident, first born... I can't compete with that."
The expulsion of these insecurities was tiring, and Freddie sighed lightly before turning a deliberate smile back on and meeting Hayley's eyes again. "But, you can meet Casey. I like having her at home." he concluded, wishing for a positive note.
"What do you mean, worked properly?" he asked intrigued. "And sort of like energy, its much more..chaotic though." he smiled. "It’d be cool to meet them." he nodded.
A short sigh slipped from Freddie’s lips and his feet shuffled lightly. “Well… it’s hard to get the mimicry working properly. I really can’t do more than my hands unless it’s an, uh, emergency.” He replied. The subject of other students was far preferable to him. “You should look out for Angelique. She’s really nice. And has an energy-type power.”
"So… I don’t think I own anything orange. What am I supposed to do?"
"Yeah, cool powers though." he nodded with a small smile. "Simply put, I can create and manipulate chaos…and its effects" he said, his best way to put his multi-colored red and green eyes and his ability of fire. He only wanted to use it when circumstances required.
A sheepish smile crossed his lips at the brief compliment. “Thanks. They would be, if they worked properly.” Freddie admitted, then moved quickly on. “So… that, uh, seems kind of broad. Is it an energy thing? Because I know a couple of people here who can manipulate energy… not that I really understand that, either. Sorry.” The young man said, his voice dropping to a mutter.
"Nope, was by accident and that’s not so much mean as abuse." said Jesse with a small smile and a teasing tone. "So, what is your power by the way I’mnot sure if you told me?" he asked curiously.
"Uh... metal mimicry. And a little bit of manipulation, too. A, uh, a fair mouthful, huh?" Freddie joked weakly, a light chuckle escaping his lips. His eyes flickered around quickly, not quite landing on Jesse for any considerable amount of time. "How about yours? Uh... explain it simply. I don't get a lot of the powers in this place." He shrugged his shoulders sheepishly.
"Its not bad thing, I’ve just never really met someone like that before. Usually people aren’t this nice…what’s the meanest thing you’ve ever done…?" he wondered.
"Really? But it's nice to be nice..." Freddie murmured, before an abrupt blush came to his cheeks at the question posed. "Uh... well, I once knocked my brother out with a steel pipe. By accident. He suprised me and I was practicing powers..." The young man explained, somewhat hesitantly. "Tha's pretty mean. Or maybe not, in your book?" He raised his eyebrows, his voice steadying.
"Few scares, some tricks." he smirked. "You don’t have a mean or angry bone in your whole body, do you?" wondered Jesse. It wasn’t a bad thing. It was just that he’d never met someone so nice before.
Reassured, Freddie nodded and returned Jesse's smile. "That's alright then, so long as nobody got hurt. And, uh, I try not to have. That's a nice way of putting it, anyway." He chuckled lightly. "It's not a bad thing, right?"
Vida giggled at the boy’s nervous behavior and jumped up and down. “How about a pretty kitty?!” She suggested. “I love cats. Like, I once had a pet lion, well, tried to get one but my parents didn’t think that it was such a good idea for me to have one but I really wanted one.”
The girl was almost peppy to an extreme, and Freddie’s eyes widened at both her behaviour and her words. “You really nearly had a pet lion? Wow. That’s, uh, not something a lot of people can say! H-how was that even possible?”
Jesse shrugged, not quite sure how to take experienced a lot. Jesse wondered if he knew about his past. “No actually, my last school didn’t have them. I just messed with people on Halloween.”
A pause followed, as Freddie atempted to determine whether or not it had been meant as a joke. “Uh… in what way? Nice pranks, I hope.” he asked, rather lamely, and he rubbed the back of his neck with a hand in his discomfort.
