Fred shrugged lightly. "I'm sorry," he apologized again. "I've been worrying about Alice. It made me kind of think about you. How you're handling still about what happened at the hospital a while back. How you would handle someone if you caught someone who was involved in that attack."

"This is not a new habit," Alice retorted as if that made it better, "And it's not r-really a habit, it's a stress thing," she explained, again not making it any better. She sighed and put out the cigarette, "It was a D-Death Eater involved in the hospital attack, he k-killed my grandmother," she pointed out, "Don't tell me you wouldn't have d-done the same thing."

"No, I probably would've," Fred said. "But we both know it wouldn't be the smartest thing or the nicest thing either. It's reasonable for you to feel that way, to want revenge on that person because of what they did, but you do know that as an auror, you're held to a higher standard, you're in a position of power." He let out a soft sigh. "And from what I can tell, it didn't make you feel any better about losing your grandmother, did it?"

Alice sat on her front door stoop. Taking a sabbatical from work was not on her list of things to do in 2029 and she was stil reluctant to get the help she needed. Was it so bad that she wanted revenge on the people who killed her grandmother? She lifted a cigarette to her lips, a new habit she'd picked up to relieve stress. She didn't even bother trying to hide it when she spotted Fred walking up to her door, "Hey," she said simply.

Fred raised his eyebrows at Alice, "I leave the force for how long, and you pick up smoking, and some other unspeakable things?" he said. He took a seat next to Alice. "You know, a lot of people are worried about you," he stated, cutting to the chase. This was Alice, almost like another sister to him, and he wasn't going to beat around the bush and bullshit each other.

Veronica was a bit on edge after her message from the Gossip Witches. Her secret was safe but that didn't mean people close to her wouldn't question her about it. As a result, she had probably taken one too many potions that night. Fortunately, she could play it off as being buzzed and she used it to feel more like herself, "Oh no," she said when she spotted her friend making a beeline for the door, "I hope you're not planning on sneaking off without me," she continued, looping her arm around his, "You know damn well I'm not letting you ring in the new year and your birthday alone especially not on such a milestone birthday."

Fred made a face, "Ugh, don't remind me. Being thirty feels like so old," he complained, mostly joking.

Fred raised his eyebrows at Alice, "No, Alice, I just wanted to spice up the store, and let them all roam free, maybe have a couple escape, let them burrow in the walls, maybe die a hamsters death," he said sarcastically.

"Hey, you n-never know," Alice said, raising her hand in surrender, "You Weasleys are al-always coming up with crazy ideas, I didn't want to assume," she teased.

"Okay, says the honorary Weasley," Fred replied with the laugh. "I seem to remember you and Frank pranking me quite a bit growing up. Come here you little sucker," he said, grabbing at a purple pigmy puff.

"It makes it... worse?" Frank furrowed his brows at that. "Now what kind of charm is that? Like what could that possibly be useful for? Just to prank you?"

Fred smiled guiltily. "Kind of, yeah. We thought it would be the ultimate prank on someone you don't like. However, I did not foresee myself doing this. I mean... it's kind of ingenious if it worked correctly, hm?"

"So what's the protocol with this?" Bekah wondered as he stated the possibilities. "Like if it's faulty you can't sell it... but could you still get it repaired back at the production factory or something?"

“We could probably turn it into something else,” Fred replied. “I’m just trying to come up with what exactly.”

"Don't give up hope yet– maybe it's not totally ruined. Maybe we can still salvage it with some magic," he tried to offer up supportively when Fred seemed defeated by the state of his shirt.

“You see, the things about this is, I helped my Dad enhance it last year, so that it’s charmed when you try to use magic on it, it actually makes it worse,” Fred said with a guilty smile.

"Hey you," Halley grinned as she saw Fred sat at the bar waiting for her. Their last couple of rendezvous' had been in a slightly less public place, for obvious reasons. "What's up? What did you wanna talk about?" she asked, signaling to the bartender to pour her a beer.

"Whoa!" Alice looked down at her feet, bending down to scoop up a pink ball of fluff that nearly got passed her, "I take it this was an accident?" she asked, laughing.

"By telling me not to laugh you're making me want to do exactly that," Frank pointed out to him in amusement, barely stifling his chuckle at the sight of Fred. "Do you need some help getting that all off?"

Fred let out a small laugh combined with a sigh. "Yes, probably," he replied. "Speaking from previous experience, this stuff is hard as fuck to get out. This shirt is ruined honestly."

"Uh– that's not supposed to happen... is it?" Bekah pulled a face when she'd watched the accident happen, trying to come up with a solution to fix the situation. "Do you need a hand with that maybe?"

"Probably... always," Fred commented at Bekah's question. "I don't know what's going on with them, they've been going off all morning. Either this is a fun prank from someone, or we somehow made a defective batch."

Fred was half covered in paint, a result of a kid setting off something at the shop. When he walked into the flat, he saw Frank there. "Do not laugh," he said softly.
