xhwitchy:
Oh, and there it was, the effervescent reminder that she could barely stand him on a good day that clung to the tone in his voice that only stood as just enough to grind her nerves as it had been all too many times in the past. âJokes on you, everyone in this town is thick.â Sheâd moved on from the disaster months before, and everyone would claim she was taking to life without her parents a whole lot easier than they might have thought she would. âYou let me wallow, that was what you did.â And perhaps it hadnât been a terrible idea at the time, but she wasnât sure even now that it had ever been a good thing as a whole. âFor the record, Iâd already been introduced to at least two of those before then, Godfrey.â She corrected with a chiding smile, though a little unsure of why he might have been back here, if at all aside from the very obvious. âSo..ââ Savannah started, already well on her way in heading in the right direction, âYou kind of just⌠disappeared.â
âTrue, but it just seems so obvious. Though I guess they could be so self absorbed in their own suffering theyâre just really bad at seeing othersâ.â Godfrey sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets. âFine, Sav. I let you wallow. I gladly encouraged you to take the weight of this town off your shoulders every night and pretend to be a regular human for a few hours.â He wasnât sure why heâd even brought it up. She was never going to see eye to eye with him about it, it was why sheâd walked away in the first place. âLet me pretend the combination was special to you, okay?â He replied, trying for a joking tone, but fell a little flat again. Maybe he couldnât do this. âYeah. Well. Didnât have a lot going on here.â The witch gave a half hearted shrug as he followed Savannah. âStill not sure coming back was the right idea, honestly.â
