A/N: This may be heavily inspired by one of my favourite tv shows, and yes, it may be a bit overboard
— Roommate!Yoongi x reader, Social media/written au — Summary: Being an impulsive teenager was never really your kind of thing. At least, not until you stumble upon a craigslist ad for a cheap apartment in Seoul that seems almost too good to be true. Despite your family’s desperate pleads for you to stay away from the big city, you pack your bags and move across the country to find a roommate who isn’t everything you’d hoped for…
I lean back against the wall as a sigh of relief rattles through my teeth, “Thank you so much, I’ll see you soon,” I say and hang up.
Yoongi’s eyes catch mine, “Joon, huh?” he begins, crossing his arms across his chest, “Is that your boyfriend?” His voice is playful, but I can still hear the sarcasm dripping from your tongue.
“What is it to you?” I hiss at him and try to distract myself on my phone.
“I’m just trying to get to know my roommate better,” He replies defensively.
My eyes flick up to his face and I glare at him, “Oh really? I thought you already knew me?” I can’t help but push off the wall and move closer to him as I continue speaking, “I’m just some naïve girl, who’s always gotten everything she’s ever wanted, aren’t I?”
He looks down, but his facial expression doesn’t change.
I can feel the same anger that I felt when I told me I was naïve pulse over me. I clench my jaw, knowing that there’s no way I’m going to be able to hold back every single negative thought I’ve ever had about him.
“You thought you had figured me out before you even got around to really speaking to me,” I say, “But guess what,” I can’t resist the urge to poke his chest hard with my index finger, “I figured you out too.”
Our gazes lock, and for a second I’m lost for words, his brown eyes seem black in the dimply lit hallway as he waits for me to proceed. I shake my head, trying to regain myself, “You act all tough, like you don’t give a shit about anything, but really you’re nothing more than a boy who has a heck of a lot of mommy problems.”
He flinches at my words and I know I’ve struck exactly right. He doesn’t break our eye contact, but I can tell that he desperately wants to leave.
Sadly for him, I can feel all the words piling up on my tongue, forcing me to continue my rant, “What the hell happened to you to make you hate everything so much?”
I tip my head to the side, holding his gaze, “Did your mom never compliment your drawings and hang them on the fridge when you were a kid?” I ask, “Did she always forget to pick you up from school, so you had to walk home crying?”
Yoongi stops looking into my eyes as his back hits the wall with an echoing thump. “Oh wait, I think I figured it out, you didn’t grow any pubes until you were sixteen and you were bullied for it in the locker rooms?”
He snorts, but I can tell that I’ve continuously hit him where it hurts. The muscle in his jaw is throbbing and his mouth is pressed into a thin line.
“Whatever your little problem is,” I lower my head, “I suggest you get over it and start living in the real world.”
I turn on my heel and leave him standing in the hallway, feeling his eyes on my back until I’m gone.

Yoongi POV
From the moment I wake up, I feel as if someone is drilling a hole into my head. With a groan I rub my eyes, daring to slightly open one eye, but the brightness in the room makes me close them again. I blink until my eyes are used to the light and just stare up at the ceiling. I try to remember how many drinks I had last night, but they all blur together after we left the Metro and headed to another bar around one in the morning. Images of stumbling into the apartment and knocking over everything in my way resurface, even the memory of knocking on y/n’s door comes back.
I jerk when my phone suddenly begins to ring, the sound makes my headache even worse.
“What?” I say with a raspy voice as I pick up.
“You forgot didn’t you?” Jimin’s familiar voice sounds from the other end.
“I forgot a few things, I drank too much last night,” With slow movements I manage to push my legs over the edge of the bed.
“I know, I was there the entire time,” he sounds exasperated, “But we were supposed to meet at the studio today at eleven.”
I glance at my clock which is stuck on 14:32, as it has been for the past month or so, “What time is it?”
“Half past,” he gulps, “I even bought you coffee, but it’ll be cold by the time you get here.”
“I’ll be there in thirty minutes, okay?” I promise and stand up.
“Just hurry, it’s freezing and Tae has my key,” He pleads.
We hang up the phone and I head out of my room, ignoring the nausea threatening to make me dash to the bathroom.
The only thing that is even driving me to meet up with Jimin is the coffee he got me, doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold.
The door across the hall from mine is wide open, and the sun is shining through the open window. I walk into the room heading for the window to close it as the smell of peaches hits me. It’s subtle and sweet. I scrunch up my nose, what am I doing?
I quickly close the window and then the door heading to the kitchen to get myself a glass of water.
My phone begins to ring in my pocket just as I’ve downed the glass of water. Thinking that the caller is Jimin, I just pick up the phone and say, “I’m heading out the door now, calm your tits.”
“It’s me sweetheart,” a woman’s voice says, making my blood go cold.
“Why are you calling me?” My words are muffled because of my clenched teeth.
“You haven’t been replying to my texts, I was worried” she says.
“I’ve been busy,” I throw my jacket on and reach for the door handle, “Listen, I’ve got to go, I have something I need…”
“No wait Yoongi!” She interrupts, “I just need some money.”
I sigh loudly and neglect to reply. A pregnant pause stretches out and I can hear her distressed breathing through the receiver.
“Please, baby,” she mutters, “I really need it.”
I squeeze the bridge of my nose with my fingers, “You always really need money.”
Her breath hitches, but at this point I don’t know if it’s because she’s acting or because she’s genuinely scared, “This is the last time, I promise.”
“Mom…” My voice is low, barely audible through the phone, “You can’t keep doing this.”
I feel a burning sensation in my throat as I strain not to give into her request.
“I promise,” she repeats, “I’m getting my life back on track this time.”
I suddenly want to just scream at her, for all the times she’s done this and said these exact words. It’s been over ten years and she has only gotten worse.
As the minutes pass by, I slowly feel my self-control slipping away from me, “Just this one time, and then you promise you will try.”
She exhales, “Thank you, sweetheart.”
The beep rings through the phone as she hangs up without a goodbye.
I immediately transfer the money, hating myself every moment. Anger surges through my veins as I grip the door handle harder, pulling the door hard. I ignore the loud creak and slam the door behind me. The crunch of metal makes me glance over my shoulder, but I don’t care.

— Roommate!Yoongi x reader, Social media/written au — Summary: Being an impulsive teenager was never really your kind of thing. At least, not until you stumble upon a craigslist ad for a cheap apartment in Seoul that seems almost too good to be true. Despite your family’s desperate pleads for you to stay away from the big city, you pack your bags and move across the country to find a roommate who isn’t everything you’d hoped for…
As soon as the clock strikes 14:45, the first couple of students stand up. I quickly join them and swing my bag over my shoulder.
“Watch out!” Someone says from behind me as I move toward the staircase, I mutter an apology without looking back.
Hurrying down the staircase I dodge between students, doing my best not to stumble and fall. If I’m late at the interview, I’m going to make a bad impression, and there’s nothing like a bad impression to ruin your chances.
I’m the first student to reach the door, so I slam my body against it forcefully, making my wrists ache from the impact.
I don’t give it a second thought as I rush down the hallway to the back entrance. I can cross over the football fields, which will surely save me two minutes or more.
Constant apologies fly out of my mouth as I pump into people right and left. A sigh of relief escapes me when I see the exit marked with a vibrantly green fire exit sign above it.
I push it open and instantly I’m hit by the hard breeze. I stumble back. A very solid breeze.
My arms flail in the air and I grab hold of the first thing I touch. I clutch the soft material between my fingers, pulling it to me forcefully in a desperate attempt to catch my balance.
I hear a bewildered ‘humpfh’.
My eyes are squeezed shut and all I can think while falling to the ground is: “Is this Cashmere?”. The same instant iI hit the ground, I hear the unmistakable sound of tearing clothes. My mind flashes back to the time my soccer shorts had torn in front of my entire team during a school competition two years ago.
I begin to mentally prepare myself for going to a job interview with ripped pants, when I open my eyes and stare directly into the eyes of the last person I was hoping to see today.
The corners of his mouth turns down while his brown eyes shoot daggers at me. His body isn’t touching mine - he seems to have caught himself a few centimeters above me.
I glance down and see the torn hem of his sweater.
The tear reveals a the top of his chest and his entire collar bone.
Heat pushes into my cheeks as I continue to gawk at his exposed skin. I feel the heat in my face spreading through my body is a rush, leaving goosebumps on every inch. A feeling overcomes me, one that I’d never thought a person that I hate this much could bring out.
I shiver - out of disgust or something way deeper is beyond me.
After another moment I realize that I’m still underneath him, and that I seriously need to move.
I scramble backwards, accidentally knocking my knee into his stomach.
He winces and clutches his stomach tightly.
My eyes follow his every movement as he stands up.
Thoughts - unwelcome thoughts - keeps crossing my mind, and I catch myself staring at his bared collar bone.
I meet his intense scowl with a blatant look on my face, his look makes my skin crawl and my stomach coil.
“Stop being in my way,” he spits at me, shaking his dark hair back into place. The look in his eyes is full of loathing as he decides I’m not worth any more of his precious time. He steps over me, almost stepping on my fingers in the process.
I sit on the ground, my mouth opening and closing silently as I watch him walk away. I can feel the vibrations from his footsteps through the floor.
Everything about him - his posture, his walk, his bawled up fists - tells me that I’m no longer just disliked by Yoongi, he clearly hates me down to the bone.
“I’m sorry about Yoongi,” A voice says from beside me. My head snaps back and before me stands another guy. He’s rather petite, with a white silk blouse and faded pink hair.
I’ve definitely seen him before. Maybe we’re in one of the same classes.
“Don’t worry about it,” I push myself to my feet, brushing the dust off my pants, which are thankfully intact, “I’m already getting used to his flamboyant mood.”
The guy snorts, “The last word I would use to describe Yoongi is probably flamboyant.”
I grin at him, when I suddenly remember why I was in a hurry to get out the backdoor in the first place, “I have to go,” I announce and storm past him.
A long line of curse words explode from my mouth, words that would probably have earned me a week of house arrest if my mom had heard it.
I run until my entire body is aching and screaming for me to stop. My eyes are watering by the point I see the music store. A million excuses for being late run though my mind.
My body collides with the door that says “No strings attatched” in a scribbly font. The bell goes off as I enter, panting loudly.
The radio in the store is playing “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen and a grunt of laughter escapes me, how fitting.
Two pairs of eyes stare at me from across the room. I recognise Jin, but not the person he’s talking to.
I lift my hand and wave, still too breathless to speak.
I take a deep breath, “I’m..” I gasp for air, “y/n.” I try to put on my best “I’m-okay-even-though-my-lungs-seem-to-have-forgotten-how-to-breathe” smile and walk on over.
“Here we go,” I murmur to myself.

I step off the bus with a spring in my step, and begin to walk towards the large lawn in front of my apartment building. One of the perks of living in Seoul is definitely the public transportation, especially if you’re someone like me who failed their driver’s test... twice. My bag is swung over one shoulder and I can feel my astrology book dig into my side. I reposition it as I reach the entrance and type in the security code to unlock the door - not something i’m used to either.
It takes me about three minutes to reach my floor, and another ten seconds until I’m right outside the apartment. Once again the door is ajar, but this time I don’t even care that much. I close the door with a little force and when it clicks shut I let go.
I kick my shoes off and walk into the apartment.
“You forgot to lock the door,” Yoongi announces barely a second after I’ve entered the kitchen, “Again,” he adds with a tone that reminds me of a parent putting their child in place. I narrow my eyes at him, “I did lock the door,” I reply.
A look of indifference settles on his face, as if my tone has no effect on him, “It wasn’t locked when I came home.” It doesn’t even sound like an argument, he merely states a fact that says: why do you even bother?
“Maybe if you tried to open your eyes every once in a while, you would see that the lock is rusty as hell,” I fire back, walking to the fridge.
I stare into the half empty shelf that has my name written on it with a sharpie. I grab two cans of coke.
“Did you ever find the strawberry milk thief?” I ask, genuinely interested, even though the look on my face is expressionless.
He grunts and shakes his head, “Why do you care?”
I shrug and lean against the fridge, “Does it look like I care?”
We stare at each other for several long seconds until I can feel the air around us press against my throat, but I don’t back down, and apparently, neither does he.
I mentally create a list of the weirdest things I’ve ever experienced.
The time my sister and I filled the birdbath with honey and accidentally killed a bird (we were seven, give us a break)
Definitely this staring contest
“Oh,” someone says, “Am I interrupting something?” I completely forget about my list as Yoongi and I turn our heads simultaneously to look at the “intruder”
Standing by the entrance to the hallway, dressed in a red and white Christmas sweater, is Jungkook. The expression on his face is illegible as his eyes study us. He stuffs his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants and leans back on his heels, “I think I left the oven on,” he announces before hurrying back down the hall towards my bedroom.
I squeeze my eyes shut. For god’s sake.
I turn back to Yoongi, who’s drinking a glass of water. Our eyes meet and he cocks a brow questioningly, which makes me roll my eyes.
I open my mouth to say something sarcastic which will hopefully make him a little less cocky, but before I get to do so, I’m interrupted by his phone chiming on the table.
I look down at his screen, but I’m too far away to read the message.
Another text shows up, quickly followed by a third.
“Someone really wants to get in contact with you,” I mutter.
He ignores me and reads the messages a few times. His jaw tenses up and the muscle begins to throb.
“What’s wrong?” I ask, as I momentarily forget who I’m talking to.
“My life is still none of your business,” He says coldly.
I quickly interpret his mood change as a queue for me to leave, so I turn on my heels.
“I guess I’ll see you later then,” I say, glad to get away from this conversation.
“Unfortunately,” he replies.
I don’t bother to turn around or even glance over my shoulder, I simply lift my hand and flip him off.
