Frida Kahlo was born on July 6th in 1907 in Coyoacan, Mexico City to a Hungarian father and Mexican mother. at the age of 20, Frida was the victim of a bus accident that changed her life forever. almost on her death bed, depressed and alone, she began to paint. She painted how she felt, how she looked, how she changed, her psyche, and flowers. she always paid special attention to detail in her flowers, and treated them delicately as if they were real in all of her paintings. While perusing an education, Frida Kahlo met Diego Rivera, they began having a mentor/mentee relationship and four years later they were married, and though Frida herself was a bisexual and had women in-between her and Diego's roller-coaster relationship, she stayed with him for the rest of her life. She referred to him as her happy second accident. During her time as an artist, Frida participated in female activism, became a national and global recognized artist, muse, and model, and became a face of the moderna mexicana woman.  She traveled with Diego and did some art pieces with and of him, and vice verse. While in the united states, Frida had a miscarriage and almost lost her life in the process. This in tern caused Frida to have another dark period in her life, and it is reflected in her paintings. She also struggled with the terms of who she really was and wanted to be. When she was not with Diego she would wear what she wanted, even men's clothing and be with women. When she was with Diego he had Frida dress in Mexican Traditional  women's clothing, makeup, and hairstyles. On July 13th, 1954, Frida Kahlo died of pulmonary embolism, though its speculated an overdose. Frida was never afraid to tell her truth through her paintings, and that is why she is one of the best female artists in history to me. Well that and the eyebrows of course.Â
