One of our founders had this experience. 💔 A cat in his society was killed by a car which belonged to a person staying in the opposite building. The owner got down & asked the driver to run away in front of his eyes. We filed an FIR with the nearest Police Station. Based on that 2-day experience, we would like to note down the process in case anyone ever comes across something like this (hopefully you won't). The following process was important and can benefit in situations like these: 1. Call 100. They came ASAP 2. Ensure body stays where incident happened and have someone be there present at all points of time 3. Take videos and pictures for the records 4. Check for CCTV footage if that is possible 5. Go to the nearest police station and record your statement 6. Police has to visit the site to do Panchnama and take 5 witnesses. Residents and shopkeepers were very helpful. (In this case the laundry woman who saw the actual incident came) 7. Once an FIT is filed, the body should be taken to spca for postmortem else your case gets weak 8. Cremate the animal post the postmortem 9. Very important - Follow up with the police on the action. Keep all documents with you. In our founder's case, we are awaiting the postmortem report and we will be following up on the same. We are hoping that justice will prevail. Hope this helps.
