Fairy Tail Ao3 Stat Breakdown Part 2: Monogamous Romantic Relationships

I chose to do the top 20 ships because I didn't realise how long I'd have to look to find the top 20 M/M and F/F ships. This is due to the discrepancy in the amount of F/M ships compared to the others. This was a little surprising, since I heard that Ao3 was usually overtaken by M/M ships. Admittedly this is one fandom, and hardly representative of every single fandom out there.

By going through every relationship tag, I picked out the top 20 of each category and calculated the percentages by dividing the total number of fics by 100, then dividing the number of instances the tag appeared in by the result.

Then I put the specific number of fics into excel to make a graph, which shows that the top 20 F/M ships have more fics than the top 20 M/M and 20 F/F fics combined. I then took the averages and the medians*, which are as follows:

This represents the average and median amount of fics per ship in each category.

*The median is the number in the middle of the data set, which is often used to determine to what extent the average is being affected by statistcal outliers.

I detest this idea that Snow did not/could not love Lucy Gray because he was simply too twisted to REALLY love someone, as if love is this all good, pure, untainted thing that can only be done by morally sound people. I get why this is a discussion in the first place, people who are unlike Snow put themselves in his place and could never imagine doing the heinous things that he did to people he supposedly loved.

But Snow is neither meant to be a good person nor a mustache twirling evil villain. He is a culmination of the worst of humanity exactly because he is inherently human and had the human capacity for both good and bad. He had the capability to love Lucy Gray, and he did; maybe not in the same way you and I would love a person, maybe not even as a person moreso an object, but it was love regardless, and making it anything otherwise undermines the way his character is crafted and how that ties in to the ending of TBOSAS/Lucy Gray’s fate. The control freaks’ tight grip slipped because love, and by proxy the object of that love, was the one thing he would never be able to regain control of.

The presence of that love does not erase every awful act he committed towards Lucy Gray, but the same is true the other way around. Love CAN coexist with cruelty and Snow did not lack in either department. That’s exactly what makes him so terrible, because he is inhumanely evil while also being unquestionably human. Denying his capacity for love somewhat sanitises him and makes him a lot less disturbing.

Wendy and Mystogan’s relationship will always feel so incredibly incomplete to me… we’ve basically had nothing meaningful from them since the oracion seis arc and Mystogan wasn’t even there for it 💀Idk they set up this really heartbreaking story where two lost, lonely kids find family in each other and then have to part ways due to circumstance, and you’d expect their reunion to be this long awaited, heartfelt moment but it feels so anticlimactic and rushed for the sake of the plot… and then any further development between the two of them literally ends right there like its radio silence going forward ❓❔❓⁉️

Yesterday my country was attacked by israel. It only attacked a base and it didn’t spread more but it resulted in deaths!

This is the second time i faced a “war-like” situation and honestly? I was SCARED for my life. This time the explosions were far from my house and i only saw it through the news. The last time it happened was extremely near to where i live and we saw the missiles shooting through the sky and the fear i felt is really hard to describe even if that one lead to no casualties.

Of course, the US knew of this attack. They claim to have informed us but it’s an outright lie but that is not the point.

These two incidents really made me think of the people of Gaza, the people of Palestine and i realized that they face this like a 1000 times every single day. It made me think of how it is the children of Gaza today but it can be anyone of us tomorrow if the Israel and the US aren’t stopped. I’m just a normal Uni student, a 19 year old girl, and i can’t explain all the emotions i felt in my head yesterday or the day the first attack happened and i don’t know if this post will reach any one but i know my intentions.

I’ve seen people under posts commenting about how the poster is an “attention seeker” for using Gaza in their posts and yes, i am an attention seeker. i want everyone to know and reconsider just who they’re supporting!

Please do not stop Boycotting! Please do not stop Supporting Palestine, or any other country going through a similar situation! And Please, even if you can not donate, raise your voice against the genocide wherever and whenever you can!
