Thoughts from the pines

The trees hear things. Here is some of what they remember.

Every day I’m more and more consumed by my yearning to become an old, wistful cowboy.

”She loves me and I love her. It’s that simple.”

It wasn’t.

“Nobody understands!” He cried.

“The woods know your suffering, though. Their trees understand.” She told him softly.

“That doesn’t make me feel better.”

“No? But you cried to the trees, and their roots told the mountains, and their branches told the sky. The whole world understands.”
