Whoo shit
ooo bitch!
THICK WOMEN. ITS BEEN ABOUT YOU.
The Net Neutrality issue summarized
You (or your parents) pay approx $40-$100 or higher for internet.Ā
So that you can all use youtube, google, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, etc. etc. etc.Ā This isnāt limited to social media.Ā Ā
Net neutrality says,Ā āOkay, since you already paid x amount of money for the month, you donāt have to pay for each asset individually. Enjoy your internet.āĀ NO net neutrality means that your service provider (comcast, at&t, verizon, whatever it may be) gets to sayĀ āACTUALLY, it lines our pockets so give us an extra $5.99 for Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. Oh, but that doesnāt include Tumblr; that comes with our premium package. Thatāll be $5.99 on its own as well. Now about your Google docs and emailā¦Ā
Thatās why itās important. Thatās why Iām spamming Net Neutrality crap. If youāre using the internet, itās YOUR problem.Ā
-Email your congressman (text resist to 50409) Itās easy, you donāt have to talk to anyone.Ā
-Tweet the FCC.Ā https://twitter.com/FCC
-Tweet THIS guy.Ā https://twitter.com/AjitPaiFCC
-CALL.Ā https://www.battleforthenet.com/
-This site does the heavy lifting for you.
-Sign this.Ā Ā
-Sign this.Ā
-Email your congressmen (thatās what Iām doing)Ā https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
-Swim the #NetNeutrality tag on Twitter. Seriously, itās helpful.Ā
And lastly, GET THIS TRENDING. Itās trending on Twitter but it needs to trend here too. This is everyoneās issue.Ā
Researchers have used Easter Island Moai replicas to show how they might have beenĀ āwalkedā to where they are displayed.

Finally. People need to realize aliens arenāt the answer for everything (when they use it to erase poc civilizations and how smart they were)
(via TumbleOn)
Whatās really wild is that the native people literally told the Europeans āthey walkedā when asked how the statues were moved. The Europeans were like ālol these backwards heathens and their fairy tales guess itās gonna always be a mystery!ā
Maori told Europeans that kiore were native rats and no one believed them until DNA tests proved it
And the Iroquois told Europeans that squirels showed them how to tap maple syrup and no one believed them until they caught it on video
Oral history from various First Nations tribes in the Pacific Northwest contained stories about a massive earthquake/tsunami hitting the coast, but no one listened to them until scientists discovered physical evidence of quakes from the Cascadia fault line.
Roopkund Lake AKA āSkeleton Lakeā in the Himalayas in India is eerie because it was discovered with hundreds of skeletal remains and for the life of them researchers couldnāt figure out what it was that killed them. For decades the āmysteryā went unsolved.
Until they finally payed closer attention to local songs and legend that all essentially said āYah the Goddess Nanda Devi got mad and sent huge heave stones down to kill themā. That was consistent with huge contusions found all on their neck and shoulders and the weather patterns of the area, which are prone to huge & inevitably deadly goddamn hailstones. https://www.facebook.com/atlasobscura/videos/10154065247212728/
Literally these legends were past down for over a thousand years and it still took researched 50 to āfigure outā the āmysteryā. š
Adding to this, the Inuit communities in Nunavut KNEW where both the wrecks of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were literally the entire time but Europeans/white people didnāt even bother consulting them about either ship until likeā¦last year.Ā
āInuit traditional knowledge was critical to the discovery of both ships, she pointed out, offering the Canadian government a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when Inuit voices are included in the process.
In contrast, the tragic fate of the 129 men on the Franklin expedition hints at the high cost of marginalising those who best know the area and its history.
āIf Inuit had been consulted 200 years ago and asked for their traditional knowledge ā this is our backyard ā those two wrecks would have been found, lives would have been saved. Iām confident of that,ā she said. āBut they believed their civilization was superior and that was their undoing.ā

āOh yeah, I heard a lot of stories about Terror, the ships, but I guess Parks Canada donāt listen to people,ā Kogvik said. āThey just ignore Inuit stories about the Terror ship.ā
Schimnowski said the crew had also heard stories about people on the land seeing the silhouette of a masted ship at sunset.
āThe community knew about this for many, many years. Itās hard for people to stop and actually listen ⦠especially people from the South.ā

Indigenous Australians have had stories about giant kangaroos and wombats for thousands of years, and European settlers just kinda assumed they were myths. Cut to more recently when evidence of megafauna was discovered, giant versions of Australian animals that died out 41 000 years ago.
Similarly, scientists have been stumped about how native Palm trees got to a valley in the middle of Australia, and it wasnāt until a few years ago that someone did DNA testing and concluded that seeds had been carried there from the north around 30 000 years ago⦠aaand someone pointed out that Indigenous people have had stories about gods from the north carrying the seeds to a valley in the central desert.
oh man let me tell you about Indigenous Australian myths - the framework they use (with multi-generational checking thatās unique on the planet, meaning thereās no drifting or mutation of the story, seriously they are hardcoreĀ about maintaining integrity) means that we literally have multiple first-hand accounts of life and the ecosystemĀ before the end of the last ice age
itās literally the oldest accurate oral history of the world. Ā
Now consider this: most people consider the start of recorded history to be with Ā the Sumerians and the Early Dynastic period of the Egyptians. Ā So aroundĀ 3500 BCE, or five and a half thousand years ago These highly accurate Aboriginal oral histories originate from twenty thousand years ago at least
Aināt it amazing what white people consider history and what they donāt?
I always said disservice is done to oral traditions and myth when you take them literally. Ancient people were not stupid.
A male colleague was making fun of the #metoo movement a few days ago, and many more (Iām one of 5 women in a department of 200 men) joined in. So I raised my voice and said I was glad women were speaking up about sexual harassment and assault and that I hoped that everyone who perpetuated this toxic behavior got taken down.
āYeah but itās a trend now, lots of them are just saying it for their 15 minutes of fame.ā He then continued to say that he didnāt know anyone who had been harassed or any man who had done it.
I asked him if he had a daughter. He did. I asked him how old she was. She was was 17. I told him Iād bet my rent money that his daughter had experienced sexual harassment.Ā
āThatās impossible.āĀ
āDid you ask her?āĀ
āNo.āĀ
āWell then, do it.ā
The next day, he came in the office with five bouquets of flowers for all the women in our department, including me. He publicly apologized for making fun of sexual harassment and for making our lives harder by doing so. He said that he simply hadnāt known how widespread it was. Apparently, his daughter deals with it very regularly. She hadnāt told him because of the way he spoke about assault cases that were on the news. She thought heād think less of her if sheād mention it. It was her idea that he should make a public announcement. He said he felt like a bad father.Ā
I said:Ā āYou were. Same goes for everyone who laughed with you. Be better, now you know better. And educate other men that still think the same way you did yesterday. And next time someone tells you about an experience they have, donāt automatically assume that because you havenāt seen it, itās not true. That kind of willful ignorance is why we still deal with this shit.ā
He also offered to pay my rent as that was part of the bet, but I told him Iād rather have him put effort in being a person his daughter and wife could be proud of.Ā
In conversation the other day my mom stopped and asked my dad about what percentage of women he thought had experienced sexual harassment. He said about 20-30% maybe. My mom told him that both of us had been harassed multiple times at work (same goes for both of her sisters) and that she had actually been assaulted by a groper on a public bus. I have never seen anyoneās face go slack so quickly before as he realized that literally every woman in his family had experienced this. And while Iām glad he believed us and has changed his view on that subject I still canāt shake the frustration, the anger, that it required being sat down and spoonfed these incidents that we didnāt particularly wanted to relive. This is something that women have been saying for years, but men just never listen. Not even when theyāre forced to sit in mandatory harassment in the workplace training seminars.
this post needs more attention
this Thanksgiving, you should all be thankful for having the internet the way that you do, and not like this.
however, if you donāt vote, this is the future thatās in store for you.

is that all on top of a flat rate just to have service?
IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911 BUT ARE SCARED TO BECAUSE OF SOMEONE IN THE ROOM, dial and ask for a pepperoni pizza. They will ask if you know youāre calling 911. Say yes, and continue pretending youāre making an order. Theyāll ask if thereās someone in the room.
You can ask how long it will take for the pizza to get to you, and they will tell you how far away a dispatcher is.
Here is an example video
Reblog to literally save a life
Iāve done this.Ā Iām alive because of this.Ā
My flat-mateās date for the night was almost as drunk as her.Ā She had passed out in her room and locked the door.Ā He refused to leave because he wanted to have sex.Ā He also demanded food because he was dealing withĀ āwhiskey dickā.Ā He didnāt like the lack of food in the fridge.Ā I called 911, did the stuff stated above, and he was getting PISSED about how long theĀ āorderā was taking.Ā He took my phone, demanded theyĀ āhurry the fuck upā.Ā Police arrived two minutes later, arrested him, and helped me file a police report.Ā Pressing charges wasnāt necessary because he had warrants on him from THREE different states for the very thing he planned to do to me.Ā Several months after this happened one of the officers informed me he was charged with two felonies because he crossed stay lines, and will be serving no less than 35 years in prison.Ā The officer ripped into my flat-mate about her bringing home complete strangers, while drunk, knowing full well this shit could happen.Ā
This was 14 years ago.Ā Ā
Do the pizza order, do it as calmly as you can.Ā The dispatcher I spoke to said things like this:
āIf heās drunk say you want mushrooms.āĀ I said I want extra mushrooms.
āIf heās threatening you with sexual assault say you want onions.āĀ I said I want onions.
She went like this with different toppings and sauces for a description of him, like pineapple if heās blonde, black olives if heās tall, extra large if heās tall, etc.
Theyāve heard this sort of coded call before.Ā Theyāre trained for it.Ā They will understand what youāre saying.Ā Order the pizza.
Really though. Iām in training for dispatch and this was one of the first things they taught us. Pretend youāre talking to a friend or relative, pretend youāre ordering pizza, weāll figure it out. Weāll word questions so you can answer in an easy, casual way. Please, just make the call and we will do everything we can to help you.
