another jjk opinion i have is i don’t believe that momo deserves the hate she gets. i do see how she was annoying however her conversation/fight with nobara came off very meaningful to me. when a character brings a sort of significance that adds to the story it makes me like the character or at least not have such a negative perspective on them regardless of them being deemed as useless in fights.
i believe this was either the first or one of the first times misogyny in jujutsu society was brought up. momo defends mai after hearing nobaras negative comments about her. momo also talks about the struggles of being a woman in jujutsu society and how this has impacted mai, especially because she comes from one of the three major clans. i have more opinions on the conversation with nobara about nobaras end of it but this is a momo post so maybe i’ll save that for another time.
these kinds of things i really appreciate because it kind of sets things up perfectly for when characters like naoya and the zenin clan are introduced. it gives us some insight before seeing the actual thing. i also loved that although mai did not want to go to jujutsu high she was able to experience friendship and have some sort of happiness and not be completely miserable i’m sure.
