𝐏𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐘’𝐒 𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐅𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐒 , yet her smile never cracked. not even when she was sent careening into the bar by one of the leaky cauldron’s more unruly customers. to the other wait staff , she rolled her eyes but didn’t let another minute tick by before she had drinks in hand and was off delivering them to a table. the customer already drunkenly stumbling to the door.
poppy had memorized the rhythm of the inn and pub , having spent much of her childhood listening to its creaking joints and rowdy crowd. the late night shift was nothing new to her , though tackling it with a mere four hours of sleep was. her energy was slipping , but she tried not to make it obvious — silently shooing away thoughts of her bed just down the street. the door rang out with a new distraction customer , and one that she recognized.
“ SHIT , how have you been? can i get you a drink? ”
about the only thing giving fred the energy to push through the door was the image of his friend on the other side. a pick-me-up after a long day of teaching the youth of hogwarts about how to get a broom off the ground. insert two crashes and at least one handle to the face. worst were the cocky ones. fred’d sooner take the fearful sum. ultimately, it all lead to now— needing and wanting a different energy.
fred nodded softly in response as he slowly approached the bar, taking a seat at one of the vacant stools. “in desperate need of your company.” a truth. arms slouched on the counter, a lopsided smile pressed across his features. a very tired one at best. “and a drink, honestly. tall one? honestly, surprise me. so long as it knows how to erase the damage of ‘bout a dozen eleven year olds then sign me up.” fred paused, giving her a glance. “can i buy ‘ya one? that allowed?”
