with an affirming nod, he reached into his bag for the bottle which still felt cold to the touch as he handed it to her. āyeah, oh, um, weāre quite unstable to be honest, all of us are a bitā¦weird. and weāve got, like, a billion dogs so, every dayās an uncertainty. apart from frodo, heās uh, always sleeping. are your parents separated or? shit, wait, sorry, you donāt need to answer that.ā he shook his head dismissively, realising how intrusive the question was. āuh, sort of, onlyĀ ācause my brother asked me to, but i kind of like it at home, so, iām in no rush.ā
āwoah, wait,ā she took the bottle from him,Ā ādo you know pretty much everyone in this town? and every dog?ā tessa took a sip, smiling and feeling a little bit more energized despite the still scalding heat.Ā āthis place must be smaller than i thought. but frodo seems like heās got his life down pat. he is your dog, right? not your brother?ā she grinned up at him, reassuringly.Ā āand donāt worry about it. my parents arenāt separated. i just had to move around a lotāby myself. lived in massachusetts then michigan then colorado thenāohāeven canada for a bit. itās allĀ ācause of skating. i gotta got where the best coaches are and thats pretty much taken me around the country. but i can understand liking tallow as a home... itās veryāuhāquaint and pleasant. at least when youāre not physically melting.ā
sajad-nanda:
Coming out of the hardware shop, Sajad seemed to fall into step with Tessa and hearing her words.Ā Ā āIf youāre not used to it then itās pretty much like living in a volcano.Ā I had a bit of hard time adjusting when I got here a few months ago too, which is weird because my entire childhood was spent in Pakistan where itās blistering in the summer.Ā Get hooked on smoothies and youāll be good.ā
āhonestly. i mean, objectively, i shouldāve expected summersĀ in arizonaĀ to be hotter than a summerāwellābasically anywhere else. the spring weather was fine, much moreĀ bearable,ā sheās been here for four months and has yet to find anyĀ āregularā restaurants or hangouts so she asks:Ā āany recommendations on where to get good smoothies?ā
louvrcs:
āoh, uh, i donāt know?ā james shrugged, not sure how to answer her question.Ā āiāve been here my whole life so itās justā¦i donāt know. donāt get me wrong, it is ridiculous, but iāve not known anything else to be honest. um, iāve got some ice water in my bag if you want? i mean, it started that way, now it might just be regular water but itāll be cold still.ā
āyes please,ā tessa held her hand out of the water, relieved that it would be cold enough to still be considered refreshing.Ā āyour whole life, huh? that must be nice... stability and all that jazz, you know?ā honestly, she couldnāt relate, having moved around a bunch since she was twelve.Ā āhave you ever thought of moving out? maybe going on an extended vacation?ā
bcbyfaced:
ā that seems to be the general consensus, but i figured a house, pet and plant bundle for four weeks was worth more than three hundred, so when she offered i figured i might as well give her a chance .ā sheĀ laughed at the admission, still cringing at the sad sight of what once was a fern.Ā ā i have a bit of a green thumb, so i might be able to resurrect a few, but this guy has definitely photosynthesized his last mealĀ .ā
āoh,ā tessa chuckled,Ā āyou decided to go with the value pack. respectable choice, but at the cost of all these lives... ā she trailed off, glancing around the area at a couple other plants that had met their untimely fate.Ā āiād be seriously impressed if you could revive some of these. theyāre pretty, well, dead. how long were you gone again?ā

āoh boy.ā she was talking aloud to herself as she walked down the street. it was ninety-eight freaking degrees out, which was a stark difference from the chilly temperatures of the skating rink tessa was just in twenty minutes ago. āit literally feels like iām walking down a path through the pits of hell.ā tallow was definitely much hotter than all the other towns she had moved to before, and she hasnāt quite yet gotten used to the climate.Ā āhow the heck do people live here?āĀ
plsisadora:
isadoraās brain had stopped focusing on the tasks at hand and had switched to auto-pilot. for the last half an hour, sheād been loading bouquets of flowers into the shopās van for the upcoming deliveries. struggling, she had lifted the final, and largest, arrangement and was attempting to take it to the van but it was so large that it obscured her vision. before she had time to react, sheād walked straight into someone on the sidewalk, and the momentum had sent her to the ground. āfiglio di puttana!ā the blonde exclaimed, aiming her swearing towards the person whoād been walking. if she hadnāt been at work, she mightāve continued her tirade but she didnāt want to get a complaint and decided upon a pout.
tessa was out on a jog, needing to get her miles in for the day. she had her earbuds in, listening to her running playlist but when the slow melody of a sam smith song started playing, tessa stopped in the middle of a sidewalk in front of a van and store and began swiping through her apple watch to skip the song. she felt another mass bump into her and watched as a blonde girl and a huge bunch of flowers fall to the floor. she heard words that she most definitely did not understand but it couldnāt have been nice.Ā āoh fuuuu....ā tessa pulled out her earbuds.Ā āsorry?ā
voicenxtes:
nate looked down at the mess of papers on his desk, his head held in his hands as he tried his best to read through them.Ā But his mind had a different idea, instead playing through the events of the horrendous date he experienced.Ā How he probably lost the only person that he might possibly have considered a close acquaintance, how hopeless he was, how once his father hears about it nateāll become a disgrace to him.Ā Ā āfuck!ā he yelled out, one of his hands swiping at the whiskey glass that sat properly on a coaster on the edge of the table, sending it flying into the wall next to him.Ā the glass shattered from the impact against the wall, a small piece coming back to hit him in the cheek.Ā Ā āfuck.ā he cussed again although much quieter as he hand went to his cheek to feel the blood beginning to seep from the wound.Ā It was only a couple moments later that he heard a knock on the door, he let out an exasperated sigh before getting up to open the door.Ā āWhat do you want.ā
tessaās strongsuit was never cooking, but she knew she couldnāt survive on doordash and uber eats. she had a food subscription box sitting on her counter and was about to make teriyaki sauce for her tofu when she realized she didnāt have brown sugar. tess knew she could make the trip to the grocery store but she was not feeling it, so she got off her ass, grabbed a bowl from her cupboard and headed out into the hall. she hadnāt particularly made friends with anyone on her floor so she picked a door at random and knocked politely. the tentative smile on her face slipped right off when the guy in front of her, who in her opinon looked a little beat up, answered. she held the bowl out in front of her.Ā āi need some sugar...ā she let that hang as she finally saw the nick on his cheek.Ā āhey, are you okay? do you need any help with that?ā tessa had dealt with an unfathomable amount of cuts herself.Ā
bcbyfaced:
ā i just⦠canāt BELIEVE i paid my little cousin three hundred bucks and i still came home to dead plants .ā the brunette lamented, examining the limp vine of a clearly deceased fern that had survived a cross-country road trip with ease, but hadnāt lasted the month and half sheād bee absent from the tallow ranch.Ā Ā ā sheās seventeen not seven ā and all the animals are fine, THANK GOD, which is inarguablyĀ the more difficult task ā¦ā
āyou should just hire ā i donāt know ā a professional plant sitter. those exist right? i bet i can find you one on indeed.com or somthing...āĀ Ā tessa walked over and joined her, peering at the dried, brown remains of the plant.Ā āi wouldnāt blame your cousin though, iāve had my fair share of dead succulents.ā
( zoey deutch )? no thatās ( tessa militsch ) the ( twenty two ) year old ( competitive figure skater ) who has been in town ( four months ) and reminds everyone of ( the shave of ice that sprays up after an abrupt halt of blades, sweet pears, and receiving a standing ovation ). Maybe it has something to do with the fact the ( cisfemale ) is always ( overly critical & reticent ) or ( principled & dedicated ). either way ( she/her ) is apart of the town. Why should I apologize Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā for the monster Iāve becomeā¦
⦠when no one has apologized                                             for making me this way?
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā who weĀ Ā AREĀ and who weĀ Ā NEED TO BEĀ to survive Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā are twoĀ Ā V E R YĀ Ā D I F F E R E N TĀ Ā things
