You have to resist the impulse to try and make yourself more sympathetic through debasement. When you've been wounded, there will at times be a powerful temptation to show your belly to the ones who wounded you and to plunge your fingers into the wounds and say "Look at me, look at what you have done, are you not ashamed," and you need to not do that because the answer to the question is no; if they were so ashamed, they wouldn't have done it. You will never, ever get anywhere by humiliating and sacrificing yourself in an appeal to ppl who already hate you. Don't do all that mess.
#how do you resist. what is the alternative.

25 years ago, in April 2001, at the high point of the movement against capitalist globalization, anarchists from around North America converged in Québec City to oppose a summit intended to establish a “Free Trade Area of the Americas” (FTAA).
The clashes during the FTAA summit arguably represent the apex of the powerful anti-capitalist movement of the turn of the century, at least in North America.
In this narrative, a participant in the resistance in Québec City recounts the street battles and explains the ambitions of those who fought in them:

[Image ID: A screenshot of a tweet by Mohammed El-Kurd (@/m7mdkurd) that reads: "What Israel is doing in Lebanon is unambiguously genocidal against Shias. And it is unambiguously an attempt to reoccupy and even annex a huge part of the country. It's infuriating that we're pretending that there's a ceasefire. And even more infuriating that Western media continues to turn a blind eye to Israel's endless colonial expansion and insatiable hunger for Arab land." /End ID.]
"if we can't remove people from a space based on sex or gender, how do we make sure people in the group stay safe from assholes?" if you can have an enforceable "no men" rule in a queer space you could probably have an enforceable "no assholes" rule instead. it's pretty easy actually. it's actually easier to tell if someone is an asshole based on their actions than their gender, in my experience.
HEAVY TRAFFIC (1973) dir. RALPH BAKSHI
it really says a lot about a bakshi movie that i remember many weird things from heavy traffic but completely forgot the protagonist gets shot in the face

On this day 45 years ago, April 18, 1980, the Southern African country of Zimbabwe gained independence with the end of British colonial rule. These photos depict guerrillas of the Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army, one of the two main liberation movements that spearheaded the anti-colonial struggle.
Under British rule, Black Africans in Zimbabwe faced severe oppression, enduring apartheid-like conditions. They were denied access to essential services while being forced to work on farms and mines for minimal wages, all while their white oppressors enjoyed a life of luxury.
During the liberation war, ZIPRA and the ZANLA fought against colonial forces, ultimately compelling the white government to negotiate.
Rhodesia, later renamed Zimbabwe, was governed by Prime Minister Ian Smith, who once boasted that “white rule in Africa would last for 1,000 years.” However, the struggle of the Zimbabwean people led to independence in 1980, with Robert Mugabe becoming the country’s first Black Prime Minister.

If you're wondering how things are going on bluesky, this brain genius is one of the engineers holding the site together.
People are yelling at him because he admitted been vibe coding the site for months and now he's having a meltdown about it. Things are great.
Honestly incredible. If I had actually bothered to go into the industry I got my education in, guys like this would be my peers and my bosses and I frankly think I'd end up on the news if I had to spend most of my waking time around these guys.
This is correct.
