Somedays it's Hot
CW: frantic writing, repeated phrases, could be unsettling.
it's hot. heat has always been nostalgic in all the wrong ways. it's hot so I cant move. it's hot and the covers fell off me, and I cant pick them up. there was that sound again: a hit. but not just another hit. a thousand things it could be none of them "just other." it's hot, and it smells off. it smells like freshly opened journals, like ink pen, except it's too much ink, too much journaling, too many feelings. I use to like the smell of journal paper, but now it's too hot, and I dont know when I can wash this feeling away. this sticky feeling. this sweaty feeling. this feeling of exposition. eyes, but they dry out, they never stop watching, even when I close my own, i still see them. watching. feeling. i can feel them up against my bare stomach, legs, arms, I can feel myself existing in my own skin, too much, too many, too hot. I thought I was doing fine but I cant remember two days ago. sometimes I feel like a painting. one that wont dry. colors forever swirling around, mixing together, marbling on a canvas some might call pretty; but I've stopped trying to find beauty in disasters.
âthe center of every poem is this: i have loved you. i have had to deal with that.â

And in the Other, a Flame
bright was the day. bright was your smile. bright was the fire set to the floor as you walked. bright as the shock when electricity sparked.
like a light, like a light, like a light.
your tone layered deep, a puzzle I couldn't piece, muffling the air as it filled all I could hear. circuiting the wires from my brain to my ear.
like a light, like a light, like a light.
emotions kept guarded. oh, what I would give, to turn back the clock and be burned by your heart. to set my charcoal mind on fire till we can't be told apart.
like a light, like a light, like a light.
but your walls held strong. our worlds kept cold. sometimes you still smile my way as you shout, but your voice strikes too harsh so the wonder blows out.
like a light, like a light, like a light.
((One Hand Holds a Lilly || And in the Other, a Flame))
One Hand Holds a Lilly
morning light, love me, like the world turns round- slowly and without pause.
be gentle with me. let me hold your hand, roaming these streets without cause.
a record is your voice, eyes of a dark wood forest, and, filling up the air, your laugh's sincere.
meadow flower, love me, but at a steady pace. let me fall like moons throughout the year.
((One Hand Holds a Lilly || And in the Other, a Flame))
creative writingâs just like yeah sure i can deal with my issues i just need to cover them in several layers of metaphors first

Tips for Writing a Difficult Scene
Every writer inevitably gets to that scene that just doesn't want to work. It doesn't flow, no matter how hard you try. Well, here are some things to try to get out of that rut:
1. Change the weather
I know this doesn't sound like it'll make much of a difference, but trust me when I say it does.
Every single time I've tried this, it worked and the scene flowed magically.
2. Change the POV
If your book has multiple POV characters, it might be a good idea to switch the scene to another character's perspective.
9/10 times, this will make the scene flow better.
3. Start the scene earlier/later
Oftentimes, a scene just doesn't work because you're not starting in the right place.
Perhaps you're starting too late and giving too little context. Perhaps some description or character introspection is needed before you dive in.
Alternatively, you may be taking too long to get to the actual point of the scene. Would it help to dive straight into the action without much ado?
4. Write only the dialogue
If your scene involves dialogue, it can help immensely to write only the spoken words the first time round.
It's even better if you highlight different characters' speech in different colors.
Then, later on, you can go back and fill in the dialogue tags, description etc.
5. Fuck it and use a placeholder
If nothing works, it's time to move on.
Rather than perpetually getting stuck on that one scene, use a placeholder. Something like: [they escape somehow] or [big emotional talk].
And then continue with the draft.
This'll help you keep momentum and, maybe, make the scene easier to write later on once you have a better grasp on the plot and characters.
Trust me, I do this all the time.
It can take some practice to get past your Type A brain screaming at you, but it's worth it.
So, those are some things to try when a scene is being difficult. I hope that these tips help :)
