Dogs serve as a kind of virtue eater for Americans to pour all of their kindness into without the risk of improving society or being nice to someone with any agency
(In a Werner Herzog voice) The perpetual references to Lassie in popular culture, an archetypal savior of the family and its children, positions the dog as an enforcer of the status quo. Beneath those watery irises is an endeavor to sequester the latent kindnesses of society into a furry, lovable vessel rather than allow individuals to direct it towards each other. Lassie is an evil, borne from our innate cowardice towards the prospect interacting with one's fellow man. Perhaps it is easier for the American to die than to reach out a hand in fellowship. Under the prevalence of canines, cruelty is a preferential morality.

Physical Therapy for when walking and standing hurts
this is my reminder to me about what helped after a month+ of work, but if this could help others who have the same weakness as me, i'd be glad
note: these build up muscles (my thighs were particularly weak) so initially i got new aches. they're numbered by weeks assigned but stack, so by week 3 i did all these exercises twice a day. now that pain is just soreness -> once every other day for maintenance
week 1. strengthen feet/calves
10 reps twice of raising heels to point of stretch, not hurt (i have high mobility in my ankles and the pain focuses at the front, so 70% of the way up at first)
30 second hold (3 times each leg) of gastroc stretch: push down on the heel and bend forward knee to feel stretch in back-leg's calf back
2 minutes (each) rolling a tennis ball along the arch of my foot
week 2. strengthen thighs/hips (can have resistance band around thighs just above knees on all stretches here)
10 reps twice supine bridge, engaging butt muscles for lift
10 reps twice each side clamshell, feeling resistance bands on thighs (use a pillow. put hand on hip to find point hips may turn and stop leg raise there; you want to feel it in butt, not back, muscles)
week 3. relieve upper back pain
20 reps of open book, from on side: hands clapped together, bring upper arm up onto the other side, following the movement with head and feel stretch in upper back (modified to keep knees together and reminder to use pillow to avoid neck pain)
other things that helped: switching to shoes with more cushion (tho now i can return to my regular dress shoes), hand massaging feet with moisturizer focusing on tight spots, "toe yoga" (raise the big toe alone, then switch to raise the small toes alone; engage arch and don't press down hard), and adjusting how i walk to engage worked muscles (hips more forward to be under my lower back, rather than popped, and rest back on heels when i remember)
HAPPY NATIONAL MOTH WEEK! Celebrate with moth art! Moths of North America poster Saturniid Moths of North America poster
every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. i’m so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you don’t have to think about it anymore while the people who’s lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
rbing with other places you can donate to to support those impacted by the fires!
true north aid (an organization aimed at providing support to remote/northern indigenous people in canada)
canadian red cross wildfire fund
ontario spca and humane society (links to their donate page specifically aimed at supporting pets and animals in areas impacted by the fires)
and the anishinabek nation’s page where you can donate to support the namaygoosisagagun nation who had their land destroyed by the fires is still accepting donations

"Own a piece of history! The Arcade is the first indoor shopping mall in the country and an architectural gem. This bright micro-loft is filled with natural light, and the bedroom offers views of the city and a vibrant downtown mural an added bonus since every unit does not enjoy an outward-facing view."

Explaining that the prominent iced coffees and chocolate-glazed Munchkins were essential to director Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of the ancient Greek epic, actor Matt Damon defended Tuesday the placement of Dunkin’ Donuts products in the upcoming film The Odyssey. “Look—for a voyage that long, you’d need 50 sausage, egg, and cheese croissants, at least,” said the actor, who added that he spent countless hours consulting with historians while preparing for the starring role of Odysseus to get a sense of what the hero might have ordered from the Massachusetts-based chain in Greece during the Late Bronze Age.

Apparently there was a jewelry trend in like, the 20s-40s to have an onyx ring with a small diamond "floating" on the onyx and I could never afford one but I think they're so cunty. Especially when the diamond is off center. Reminds me of Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark

Here at Clotheshorse World HQ (aka my office) we have some important policies:
❤️ Fuck AI generated slop
❤️ Doomerism is boring
❤️ Fake fruit is magic
❤️ Cat dinner is served at 6pm sharp
❤️ Pink and red are the best color combination
❤️ Hearts are the best shape
So here's my roundup of some of my favorite pink and red posts from the past few years.
When I first started working on Clotheshorse, I knew what I wanted it to look like/feel like: vintage imagery, cute details, and lot of pink, red, and artificial fruit. But I was also like, “UM...but will anyone take me seriously if Clotheshorse actually looks the way I want it to look?”
My life is full of anecdotes that involve men telling me that there was no way I could be smart AND like cute things. Like, a guy told me “There’s no way you read any of the books in your living room if you also have a Hello Kitty alarm clock.” REALLY DUDE?! Don’t challenge me to a literary criticism competition because I will defeat you!!!
But the fact is, many of us also internalize that line of thinking, regardless of our gender. Some of us naturally prefer a more tone-downed, minimalist aesthetic. But others (myself included) have felt that in order to be taken seriously, we have to express ourselves via neutral color palettes and a lot less ruffles and bows.
Reclaiming pink and cuteness is a pretty radical act in a society that pushes navy and neutrals as the “respectable” alternative. In a culture that considers anything “feminine” to be lesser. And years ago, one of the main reasons the Clotheshorse blog fell apart is because the team working on it felt that it should move into a more neutral aesthetic. That felt like a step backward for me and for all of the people who had found themselves being seen by what I was doing with Clotheshorse.
So I’m just going to keep posting cute stuff that is also thoughtful and researched. That’s what Clotheshorse is...authenticity, community, compassion, care, and...cuteness. And everyone is invited, no matter what you like to wear!

Raising the alarm about an issue that could have long-term consequences for American youth, researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, published a study Wednesday that found the majority of Generation Z telepaths lacked the attention span to read even a single mind. “In prior generations, telepaths would spend whole afternoons scrutinizing another person’s thoughts, but these days the average young mind reader loses interest in 15 seconds or less,” said cognitive scientist Daniel Merrill, emphasizing that the advent of TikTok and other short-form Internet content had eroded the ability of people under the age of 30 to truly engage with a target’s deepest desires, fears, and insecurities.
