Getting ready for work 🍀
This week on Vivere 44 - spontaneous pet adoption?
Vreaz and his crew encounter a stowaway creature on their ship. This comic properly introduces Nurlot! (and fulfils my ulterior motive of fleshing out the crew more)
This is probably the most ambitious project I've done for this story. Don't know if I'll attempt something like this again, but I hope you guys enjoy it anyhow!
More on Sea Crawler pets here!
Slipper lobsters go seriously hard. No fr they’re so swag and full of merriment
What if I was a slipper lobster and you were an isopod and we were best friends and ate a carcass
this mud dauber wasp (Sceliphron caementarium) seemed distressed about something in her clay nest. Turns out it had been commandeered by a keyhole wasp (Pachodynerus nasidens), who was now aggressively asserting ownership
keyhole wasps, which hunt weevils and other small beetles, will opportunistically nest in any sort of small cavity (such as a keyhole). The existing literature on this species doesn’t say anything about taking over other wasp‘s nests, only that they sometimes refurbish abandoned nests, but I guess this one didn’t get the memo.
This isn't the worst of their mischief though- they also have a habit of building nests that clog up the airspeed measuring instruments in planes and have caused several fatal crashes.
(Florida, 10/6/21)
Look how the mud dauber moves at first, slipping up closer and then flinching back, like a cat investigating something new and potentially dangerous.
This is one of those videos that’s good for remembering, oh yeah, bugs are just little animals. With added features like cute tappy antennae that go faster when they’re excited.
anyone remembers the BargoQu's i've made a while ago?
well here they are
My entries for Mermay 2022!!
