Everyone whoโs ever quoted this needs to remember the context of the quote: that the Joker was WRONG and that Batman, Barbara, and Commissioner Gordon all proved him WRONG. Because he made them suffer. He made them hurt. He gave them the worst possible day he could give them. But they chose not to be evil. They chose to still do good, always. Proving that Jokerโs idea of โOne Bad Dayโ was a choice he made, and this quote is what he tells himself to convince himself other people are inherently evil like him, rather than acknowledging that his actions were his own, and his suffering never justified them.
One must also consider those who live many bad days in succession, have more bad days in their lives than good - but are still good people who do not visit violence or harm on others.ย
We live in a psychotic world now, as Joker puts it, yet so many of us choose to try to be better and help each other.ย ย Joker proves himself wrong, and Alan Moore writes it right on the page.
People can choose to be good.ย
He just didnโt, and heโs deluded himself into thinking thatโs how humanity is, that he can shift blame of his actions harming others onto the world.
