I love it when someone that's notably famous has the same interests and tastes as me, its validating

The photo taken for the cover of Fevers and Mirrors shows my friend Jamie taking the picture. (Sheās in Tilly and the Wall, by the way) She was reflected in the mirror, and you can see the camera on a tripod with a cable release. This was before digital cameras, so it was all old school film.
My dad helped me hang that wallpaper on one wall in my basement, and I got the mirror at the thrift store I worked at at the time. A couple of years ago, I used a saw and cut the drywall off that wall, so I could keep and display the wallpaper. Part of that section of wall with the mirror is now on display in the Saddle Creek record shop.
The promo poster for Fevers actually used this image with Jamie. I like that itās kind of ghostly.
Conor and I went to the wallpaper store and picked out this pattern. He liked that it shows a guy playing guitar to a woman. I should have bought extra rolls⦠I think it would be cool to wallpaper an entire room with this, but I donāt think they make it anymore.
My friend Matt (drummer for Desa) was playing drums with Bright Eyes at the time, and he was living with me. They had band practice in this room of my house where the wallpaper was hung, while they were getting ready to go on tour. I think thereās a brief clip of it in the Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek DVD⦠itās my laundry room :)
āSometimes the things you want the most donāt happen and what you least expect happens. I donāt know - you meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet one person and your life is changed forever.ā Love and other drugs (2010)
Starting off with my most cherished, my *unfinished* Bright Eyes collection. Conor Oberst is my biggest musical inspiration and the first musician I ever got into. His lyrics are pretty much my bible and without his art I wouldnāt be who I am today.
top to bottom:
- Fevers and Mirrors (1999) I consider this album to be my all time favorite. This was the first record I owned (given by my cousin), the first album I ever felt that feeling in your gut over. Itās a masterpiece through and through *sparing you of the gory details for now* - Every Day and Every Night (1999) Purchased at Amoeba LA, so glad to have found it. All 5 songs are great. Listen to A Perfect Sonnet when youāre mad at love - Iām Wide Awake, Itās Morning (2005) The most iconic intro ever āWeāre going to a party! It.. Itās a birthday party. Itās your birthday party! Happy birthday darling, we love you very, very, very, very, very, very, very much.ā - Digital Ash in a Digital Urn (2005) Easy. Lucky. Free. is definitely the most underrated single from him - Noise Floor (Rarities: 1998-2005) Amy in the White Coat is the only song (until discovering Your Fathers Eyes by Marching Church) that I genuinely sob over when I hear it. It hits deep. DEEP. - The Peopleās Key (2011) Given to me yet again by my cousin, probably the coolest gatefold/trifold in an album I own. Best last album ever.

Saw Conor tonight, front row, once again so amazing! Will post photos and videos soon!! š
I wish everything could be as simple as this picture. My life has been nothing but dull as of lately. I'm doing a pretty good job at holding it all together but I don't know how much longer I can do it. Trying to trust myself that I won't make a bad decision but I'm always one to jump in to something without weighing the consequences.
I can still hear the sound of the waves! š
