Dutch review about De Staat playing at Werpop, Leiden (NL).

Rockband De Staat heeft de reputatie opgebouwd een fantastische liveshow te geven. Dat lijkt vandaag een probleem te worden wanneer zanger Florim het podium opkomt met een wandelstok. Hij heeft zijn enkel geblesseerd. Maar tijdens het optreden is hier weinig van te merken. De zanger staat amper stil en zet het publiek aan tot springen en dansen: "want zelf kan ik het niet". Het heeft effect. Een klein groepje jongeren vormt zelfs een voorzichtige pit in de blubber. De beweeglijke deuntjes van De Staat steken boven de middenmoot uit dankzij de machinale klank en het gebruik van originele instrumenten zoals een koebel. Klapper is toch de afsluiter ‘Ah I see’, waarbij een autostuur wordt ingezet. De band gaat nu helemaal los. Rocco Bell beukt op de claxon alsof zijn leven ervan afhangt. Na het stuur ook even bewerkt te hebben met zijn hoofd, gooit hij het ding tegen een versterker. De Staat taait af, het getoeter komt nog steeds je oren binnen. (SI).
