Reasons why Academy Era is the best thing since sliced bread in my own head:

The beginnings of two of my favorite bromances in the universe

Gaila

Jim and Nyota having an epic academic rivalry

Spock and Uhura doing a very bad job of not falling in love

Gaila

Jim persistently trying to guess Uhura’s first name even because even though he gave up seriously hitting on her after the first couple times he’s taken upon himself as a personal challenge to figure out her first name

"Did you seriously just call me Bones?” “Mmmhmm. So hey, what did you get on question four?”

Jim develops a huge nerd crush on Uhura this is canon fact and you will never convince me otherwise (and it totally stays there forever and ever)

Jim and Gaila having a friends with benefits relationship and revelling in annoying Uhura together

Spock and Gaila weirdly hitting it off and debating Starfleet’s concessions for non-human officers

Did I mention Gaila because Gaila is fantastic
