Kim Young Min is no longer the CEO of SM Entertainment.

As of March 31, 2017, Kim Young Min is something called “총괄사장“ (my best bet at this time is “general manager” in English) of SM Entertainment Group.

He is now also listed as chairman of the board of directors at SM.

Since I’m no expert in Korean corporate hierarchy or organizational practices I can’t really tell you more about his new position. Just know that he is a bigger boss now.

As for SM’s new CEO, it’s actually two people! Han Semin and Nam Soyoung are now co-CEOs.

“SM Entertainment to jointly develop tourism attraction around Mt. Hua in China“

South Korea’s leading entertainment company SM Entertainment Co. inked an agreement with China’s state-run Shaanxi Huashan Tourism Group Co. to collaborate on developing cultural contents and tourist facilities at one of China’s favorite tourist destination Huashan Scenic Area in Shaanxi Province, mid-western China, the company disclosed on Saturday. Two companies signed the contract at a hotel in Xian, China on Friday.

Under the terms of agreement, SM Entertainment will operate a concert venue in Huashan Scenic Area and develop neighboring regions. Also, it will provide various resources on Korean pop culture such as three-dimensional holographic pictures and contents on Korean celebrities to Shaanxi Huashan Tourism Group as well as support the Chinese firm with designing and developing tourist facilities. The Chinese group will oversee construction of tourist amenities and lead marketing events

[SK Telecom] has signed an agreement with SM Entertainment to apply its IoT technology at the recently opened SMT Seoul, an upscale five-story restaurant, located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, southern Seoul. Customers visiting the restaurant will be able to get menu recommendations via their smartphones and can also place specific orders to the chef in the kitchen on how they would like their food to be served. As well, they will be able to see how long it will take for their dish to arrive and, while waiting, they can access various music and videos of their favorite boy or girl bands.

The project is meant to “help teenagers and children in difficult environments explore their dreams through music” by receiving “professional vocal and dance training from professionals and SM artists such as TRAX and Red Velvet who helped enhance their skills for three months”. The concert then gave the youths a chance to perform on stage in front of an audience.
