Scarlett Johansson for Dolce & Gabbana Beauty
I think America has become obsessed with dieting rather than focusing on eating well, exercising and living a healthy life. I also think that being ultra-thin is not sexy at all. Women shouldn’t be forced to conform to unrealistic and unhealthy body images that the media promote. I don’t need to be skinny to be sexy.

“ I think that I sort of see other actresses are kind of proud of the way they look and show it off. That’s never really been my style. I really don’t think that it’s disgusting or wrong, if you’re 18 you’re 18, it’s your body, it’s your right to show yourself, however, I don’t really take a part in that. I like to look nice, but I think that there’s ways of doing it that are more tasteful than just wearing a bikini wherever you go.”

“You can catch yourself when you fall back on the things that make you comfortable [on screen]. It’s a lot of work to get rid of those little tics. Yet part of those little tics are why we like specific actors individually, because they’ve got that little thing. We warm to the things that we recognize in them. But they can hinder the audience’s ability to just fall right into the story. I probably should continue to work more on that too. And I do. I’m aware of it. It’s an actor’s work to do that. But the other part of that, there’s nothing you can do. That’s just there.”

I guess as an actor you’re not always reacting to things that are right in front of you or that are really tangible. Sometimes you’re already kind of existing or free-floating in a story that you’ve constructed for yourself and the character. I mean, it’s always nice to have the actual tangible thing to react to, but you’re already coming from a place that doesn’t really exist. Your emotions are there for what you created for the character, but it’s a “make believe world,“ in a sense – that’s a silly way of saying it, but it’s true.
“I’ve learned the importance of having open communication with myself and in my relationships with people. As I get older, I see the value of being up-front and honest about the way you feel, even if it’s painful to admit. The truth is really the best way to strengthen your relationships with yourself and others.” – Scarlett Johansson
