Maybank QRPay X Riuh in The City in Sentul Depot.
REXKL Downtown KL used to be the heart of the city. It was the centre for trading, entertainment, banking and government administration. It was buzzing and full of life. But like many other places, as the city grows and expands, the earlier settlement often gets left behind and eventually forgotten. The past glory turned into ashes (literally during the great fire of KL Chinatown) and the locals vacate where their forefathers used to live.REX Cinema in Chinatown was once the most popular cinema in town. It marked the peak and witnessed the fall of Downtown KL. After the fire, the building has been occupied for various purposes. Until, a group of architects rediscovered it and decided to explore the possibility of rehabilitate this iconic site by inserting a community-based program which aims to incubate creative local entrepreneurs and help traditional trades within the vicinity.Local creative communities need places to come together. And by re-inviting the local community back in downtown KL, we are looking forward to increase the livability of this deteriorating part of town. So this makeshift project was created to provide affordable and inspiring space for independent businesses, artists and local entrepreneurs to work, grow, trade and learn. 60,000sqf of the former cinema will be turned into a cultural destination that showcases its community / members and connects them with the general public and international audience. REXKL is a grassroots enterprise founded by locals for local people, the space is constantly evolving and developing as the community grows. Come join us and get involved. The Botak Liquor Bar, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - new joiner to the emerging Malaysia hidden bar scene, located in the heart of the city, Petaling Street, also known as China Town. The bar is on the 2nd level of the Cho Cha Restaurant, by the same owner, both Cho Cha & Botak Liquor share similar vintage & colonel heritage vibes, however, Botak Liquor Bar does make itself stand out (or hidden), by incorporating more green plants, creating a garden like ambience - journey to the bar on the second floor was like a mini tropical expedition. Drinks were pleasant, the bar do serve mocktails (non alcoholic), forgot what we order that evening, but was definitely pleasurable.
